  • We can use dot plots to analyze a data set, especially with regard to its center and spread. The frequency of a data value is the number of times that it occurs in the data set. The distribution of a data set shows the spread of the values. And outlier is a data value that is far from the others. We analyze a given dot plot and describe its shape, center, and spread. We calculate the mean, median, and range of the data values.
