Thanks for the good tips. Although this is nice for visualizations purpose, Architects need LOD (Level of Detail) control. i.e.: You can create a very detailed profile with lots of voids and geometry... Good for details... But when you go render this monster it will take ages!... This is why we need to simplify stuff according to the need of the view. BIM Software developers need to take this in account. Hope Sketchup is working on this.

I hear you, but I think implementing a feature like this would end up overcomplicating things in SketchUp. I would be good with some simple features... like hide lines in LayOut (without all the scene updating and tag/layer trickery). It would be really slick to be able to select an edge and override it's line weight too. It will be interesting when I wrap this project up and shoot some interior elevations. Given the way it's modeled, I think it will be fine at 1/2" but a little muddy at 1/4. We will see!

      Thanks for the feedback Mike.
Yes. It would be hard for current users to change the current mind set. But I think it would worth.
Regarding LOD, I always say "If you can't see something in a view/render/section... Then why the hell should it be included in the geometry calculations?!" I already suggested the PROFILE BUILDER guys to implement a LOD system within profiles. Like some kind of "LOD layers" that we could set for different LOD needs. i.e. in the LOD 500 layer I would draw all the details of a multi material wall with voids and sheets... and in the LOD 200 I would just draw a single perimetral profile/geometry with individual surface materials. This concept could be applied to objects: A single object could have a set of LOD versions that could be displayed according to the need. Imagine highly complex IKEA furniture that could be displayed lightly in a section... Yes it would be difficult to implement... but we desperatly need. What do you think?
