It's perfect that they only let the sword actually cut the skeleton in Ripper mode. Usually the vibrablade has no trouble cutting through most normal things, but in the game Ripper mode's mechanic is specifically to instantly cause armor breaks. Incredible fight,
Yeah but this was very unrealistic, Wolverine usually goes for the vital spots especially if he sees that attacking other areas wasn't enough, so Wolverine would have won quickly if he cut off Raiden head instead of attacking his mid section which he wouldn't waste his time doing

Hulk's skin is able to withstand Hyperion's heat vision and remember it took hulk strength to break a severely weak version of adamantium called second adamantium. Wolverines claws are true adamantium which is able to slice through the invulnerable , even juggernaut can be hurt by them
Raiden was introduced in like the 2nd or third game of msg. Then in 2013 they turned him into a cyborg super swordsman for the spin off game(don't know if it's cannon) if you're a true fan then you know these things
What i really liked about this one is that whenever Raiden slowed down, or stopped attacking for even just a second, he got closer and closer to losing, much like in the actual videogame. His best defence is offense.

They literally just didn't have the ability or the budget to animate the tearing of the clothes at this time.
I mean, Raiden himself said that Jetstream Sam, who had a robot prosthetic arm AND a cybernetic suit, "barely had any cyborg enhancements" ...so honestly, Wolverine might not count as a cyborg in the MGRR universe. Especially so if, according to the art book iirc, nanomachine('s son)-filled Senator Armstrong isn't even a cyborg
@@adumbchicken8022 both actually, Sam was able to see the speed Armstrong's nanomachines were moving at and predict when to strike. Raiden had exhausted Armstrong's nano machines from the fight, which had them moving slower and hence he was able to cut faster than them.
I kind of like this fight better than raiden vs Excalibur , well not only because Raiden wins lol. But because the older death battles seem to utilize and incorporate actual moves from the games to the chorography.
@@C1ph3r420 the new one had little to none, they utilized multiple effects to cover the action. The concept of moving so fast the eye can’t see with a multitude of great captivating camera angles. But that’s it, the action and animation had no moment of actual flow
And that wasn't even Raidens whole kit. I doubt Mistral's polearm would have been of much use here but Sundowner's pincer blades and Monsoon's Sai would have been very useful here for brute cutting force and long range shock attacks. Also, Raiden carries both electrolyte and nano repair packs to heal himself and recharge his fuel cells when there are no other cyborgs around whose spines he could take.
Do we also add the Armor Breaker to his kit? Doktor mentions that whit the Patriots data from the Left Hands he can begin creating his masterpiece and the Sword is your reward for collecting them.
It literally doesn't even matter. Wolverine will never tire, murasama could only succeed in damaging adamantium to an infinitesimal degree at best, Wolverine's claws destroy murasama in a single blow, and Wolverine will not tire as Raiden needs to go for an oil change.

Anyone else here after hearing about Raiden’s return to DB? Even after all these years, this one still holds up in animation quality; let’s see if Jack’s bout with Excalibur can breach the bar this one set.
[SPOILERS] well the animation was excellent, but imo....topping this episode's 3D fight is nigh impossible, ultimately it's just Torian's style that gave it (and other 3D fights in the earlier seasons) so much life.
One thing I really like about this fight that isn’t really talked about is that despite Raiden’s numerous advantages over Wolverine(including strength, speed and Raiden’s blade being able to cut through adamantium), it wasn’t until both were pushed to their limits that Raiden was actually able to kill him. Just shows how tough Wolverine’s skeleton is.
@@BoozyBeggar And yet, just like Misty Knight's artic Vibranium arm, the HF Blades, especially the more powerful ones like the Foc Blade, Pincer Blades Machetes Bloodlust, and V-T7 Murasama Blades can in fact cut through adamantium, but not instantly, kinda obviously because adamantium is far stronger than even carbon nanotubes, which is stronger than titanium, but Raiden has multiple VERY unique HF Blades like the Stun Blade, Armor Breaker, HF Longsword, etc, which can rival and even surpass the likes of the Murasama, and Jack's arsenal is more vast then this, because he has, pistols, machine guns, assault rifles, sub machine guns, rocket launchers, homing missiles, snipers, EMP/regular/special smoke/etc/grenades, etc, all with infinite ammo, from Snake's bandana, his Infinity Wigs, heck, Jack can even canonically save and load, has infinite stamina, multiple ways to heal himself, characters like Praying Mantis can even break the forth wall, etc, but the legendary bladed member of the X-Men is NEVER going down easy, and can even win in some circumstances, its just Jack has the means to pull it off more often then not, the Iron Wolverine gave it all and this fight was quite berserk, no matter how you Dimensionally ALIVE it, Jack has the Marvelous Gear to finish the mission, the winner is Jackson "The Ripper" Raiden.

Adamantium is supposed to be indestructible, but the comics have made it quite destructible in many cases, so it depends on how much you quibble on their inconsistency.

I only wished that Raiden had said “Playtimes over” right before ending the fight, but, amazing fight and analysis. I mean, Raiden already beat Senator Armstrong, who is just Wolverine minus the claws. Nice detail of Wolverine getting increasingly staggered as Raiden built up a combo.
+Gnoggin two words, Silver Samurai. his ability charges his blade to cut through anything but apart from the disaster of a movie i won't name he's never been able to cut adamantium, Misty Knight's arm dissolved metal upon contact which is on a whole different level to HF blades.
wolverine did sever raidens arm at some point, and during the fight, raiden took several hits from wolverine. now I know you want them to show all their abilities, but wouldn't raidens injuries kill him before he could slice wolverine into bits? Or is it because raiden is a cyborg that he can survive long enough? Reason for thinking is that at the end it says that wolverine has more battle experience, so I think wolverine would go for the quick kill... course, it would've been a short battle then. on the other hand, one good hit with that sword and wolverine is dead, but wouldn't he have lost his arm the first time raiden struck his shoulder? No, Wolverine with an Antarctic vibranium coated skeleton and claws would be far less durable. AV is *anti-metal*, not anti-all-materials. It's far weaker. Adamantium is universe-level strong, murasama is not, and murasama doesn't work anywhere near the same way that AV works. AV has to merely TOUCH metal and starts liquefying it. Murasama is made of normal Earthbound metals and vibrates to cut thru molecules, but adamantium is completely resilient at the molecular level, and can normally only be damaged by a piece of molecularly sharp adamantium (excepting AV, of course). Thor, at his BASE level, could destroy an entire galaxy. That's many billions of stars and probably 3-7 times that number of planets. Thor, wielding Mjolnir, which contains Tempest, an ancient elder god who has existed since the dawn of time, can *slightly dent* adamantium using *all his might* Wolverine's skeleton cannot be damaged to any great extent by murasama, and Wolverine's claws could cut thru murasama like a hot knife thru butter. Raiden would eventually tire, weaken, and need to be refueled, regardless of how strong or fast he is; Wolverine would just have to wait for that to happen. There's no scenario, when taking the actual in-lore descriptions of adamantium, enhanced murasama, Raiden at his most powerful, and Wolverine at his most powerful, where Raiden comes out of a fight with Wolverine alive. Wolverine with his adamantium claws literally has the ability to destroy entire 3D universes if he so chose.
Consider the Following, Raiden threw a metal gear Ray, then minutes later got dunked on by good ol Jetstream Sam, the Weakest brazillian Man. Sam did this with no cyber augments, it was all thanks to the fact that he was runnin that stank ass windows 95 puter

That was one of the most amazing fights ever. I was ready for either one to win, but I was rooting for Raiden. I loved that ya'll had fitting music for the fight. It didn't even feel like this was fanmade stuff, it just felt legit. Nice job.
One thing I feel like they overlooked when measuring Raiden's strength is that he didn't just toss Metal Gear Ray...he tossed it WITH THE WORST POSSIBLE POINT OF LEVERAGE That would almost certainly increase the strength requirements than if he actually had good leverage to toss that thing by no small margine
Torque in a lever can be found by multiplying the force applied by length away from where the force is being applied. So, essentially take the weight of metal gear ray (over 1000 tons in this case) and multiply it by over a hundred due to the poor lever and you have raiden's strength. This would be a feat of 100,000 foot/tons of torque (they used weird units). Not only can Raiden flip a metal gear, but has the force to flip OVER A HUNDRED AT ONCE assuming 1:1 leverage. This is all in the un-upgraded cyborg suit.

in the comics, wolverine healed and regenerated from a single drop of his own blood. Wolverine explained to Horde (the guy who ripped his heart out and killed him) that his healing factor, and therefore, his will to live inhabited every cell in his body.

Twenty-Fifth Well, he has the Infinity Gauntlet if we’re giving him time. As he didn’t just OBTAIN this thing. Granted, Raiden didn’t just BECOME a ninja badass...but it’s not exactly an item. The Infinity Gauntlet, on the other hand, took time and effort to assemble. And Thanos, from what we have seen, is indeed physically quite powerful...but Raiden is no pushover. Such as when he throws around giant mechs the size of large buildings, one of which is probably small town level (Excelsus). And he’s without much doubt faster, just overall (Such as his introduction feat at the very start of MGR’s Intro Mission, with the shipping crates). So, without the Infinity Gautlet, I really cant see him defeating Raiden. It’s just a matter of Raiden’s overall speed and precision that would make this fight much less interesting. However, if we’re talking about COMIC Thanos, then yeah, Raiden is screwed both ways.

One significant problem Wolverine's healing factor is stronger than Deadpools so even with his head cut up into little bitty pieces he would still come back
The spine is comprised of multiple vertebrae held together by several ligaments, so even if Raiden's sword couldn't cut through adamantium, he could still separate Wolverine's head from his body by cutting between his vertebrae
Raiden's blade, Muromasa, targets things on a molecular level, which makes it able to cut most things, so I guess you could say Raiden *cut him down* to size. 1 year later edit: wow. lots of typos in this comment. and lots of drama in the comments, lol. and all it took was a cheesy joke.

Adding to Raiden's speed, during the Monsoon fight rain drops STOPPED completely while in blade mode and ripper mode, meaning he likely moves faster than light its self in ripper mode!
The raindrop exhibit doesn't give him FTL properties, I believe. It just gives him speed that is very much beyond the speed of sound. Still, that's VERY DAMN FAST.
I never played the other Metal Gear games, but he even says “Not Again!” When he got it cut off by Sam, so I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the first time he lost his arm.

I had a sudden thought, how can Raiden take Wolverine's blows and not be cut apart or disarmed sooner? Does he also regenerate? If the machine parts get damaged I would assume Wolverine can outlast him just as well as he can get decapitated. Though then again while the claws are indestructible and sharp I guess the physical power behind them has some limits until Wolverine went into berserker mode, like that episode in Samurai Jack where he needed a tech gauntlet to augment his swinging power
He carries repair nanopaste (basically nanobots that repair his body when he uses it) also yes Wolvie's claws only have the striking power of Wolvie's arms

The biggest thing to remember is that Raiden was able to kill Armstrong who was basically the same minus the claws of course
He did that by overwhelming the nanomachines with repeated strikes so he could get to the source. With Wolverine here, he just needed brute force.

Also, Raiden carries both electrolyte and nano repair packs to heal himself and recharge his fuel cells when there are no other cyborgs around whose spines he could take.
Do we also add the Armor Breaker to his kit? Doktor mentions that whit the Patriots data from the Left Hands he can begin creating his masterpiece and the Sword is your reward for collecting them.
Sundowner's pincer blades are absolute damage-dealing monsters. You can easily chew through entire phases of bosses with a single charged strike.
It literally doesn't even matter. Wolverine will never tire, murasama could only succeed in damaging adamantium to an infinitesimal degree at best, Wolverine's claws destroy murasama in a single blow, and Wolverine will not tire as Raiden needs to go for an oil change.

One thing I really like about this fight that isn’t really talked about is that despite Raiden’s numerous advantages over Wolverine(including strength, speed and Raiden’s blade being able to cut through adamantium), it wasn’t until both were pushed to their limits that Raiden was actually able to kill him.

Adamantium is supposed to be indestructible, but the comics have made it quite destructible in many cases, so it depends on how much you quibble on their inconsistency.

Reason for thinking is that at the end it says that wolverine has more battle experience, so I think wolverine would go for the quick kill... course, it would've been a short battle then. on the other hand, one good hit with that sword and wolverine is dead, but wouldn't he have lost his arm the first time raiden struck his shoulder? No, Wolverine with an Antarctic vibranium coated skeleton and claws would be far less durable. AV is *anti-metal*, not anti-all-materials. It's far weaker. Adamantium is universe-level strong, murasama is not, and murasama doesn't work anywhere near the same way that AV works. AV has to merely TOUCH metal and starts liquefying it. Murasama is made of normal Earthbound metals and vibrates to cut thru molecules, but adamantium is completely resilient at the molecular level, and can normally only be damaged by a piece of molecularly sharp adamantium (excepting AV, of course). Thor, at his BASE level, could destroy an entire galaxy. That's many billions of stars and probably 3-7 times that number of planets. Thor, wielding Mjolnir, which contains Tempest, an ancient elder god who has existed since the dawn of time, can *slightly dent* adamantium using *all his might*
Wolverine's skeleton cannot be damaged to any great extent by murasama, and Wolverine's claws could cut thru murasama like a hot knife thru butter. Raiden would eventually tire, weaken, and need to be refueled, regardless of how strong or fast he is; Wolverine would just have to wait for that to happen. There's no scenario, when taking the actual in-lore descriptions of adamantium, enhanced murasama, Raiden at his most powerful, and Wolverine at his most powerful, where Raiden comes out of a fight with Wolverine alive. Wolverine with his adamantium claws literally has the ability to destroy entire 3D universes if he so chose.

One thing I feel like they overlooked when measuring Raiden's strength is that he didn't just toss Metal Gear Ray...he tossed it WITH THE WORST POSSIBLE POINT OF LEVERAGE

Torque in a lever can be found by multiplying the force applied by length away from where the force is being applied. So, essentially take the weight of metal gear ray (over 1000 tons in this case) and multiply it by over a hundred due to the poor lever and you have raiden's strength. This would be a feat of 100,000 foot/tons of torque (they used weird units).
Not only can Raiden flip a metal gear, but has the force to flip OVER A HUNDRED AT ONCE assuming 1:1 leverage.
This is all in the un-upgraded cyborg suit.

Yes, a writer can make up whatever they want. But when they have re-established power levels and events, the writers have to start playing to a canon. This is why Spider-Man and his all powerful Spider-Sense can still have trouble directly fighting Captain America or Wolverine: his personal code and personality makes it hard for him to go all out. Which is why when Doctor Octopus takes over Peter's body and calls himself the Superior Spider-Man, he can absolutely lay out Wolverine with no effort or ability for Wolverine to fight back. Just as Doc finds out the hard way by nearly killing Scorpion in one punch how much Peter holds back in combat for the safety of his enemies.
in the comics, wolverine healed and regenerated from a single drop of his own blood. Wolverine explained to Horde (the guy who ripped his heart out and killed him) that his healing factor, and therefore, his will to live inhabited every cell in his body.

Tergart Cunninghan MCU thanos technically has had the infinite gauntlet.
Plus, even without, MCU thanos scales to beings who are stronger then small town level.

Well, he has the Infinity Gauntlet if we’re giving him time. As he didn’t just OBTAIN this thing. Granted, Raiden didn’t just BECOME a ninja badass...but it’s not exactly an item. The Infinity Gauntlet, on the other hand, took time and effort to assemble. And Thanos, from what we have seen, is indeed physically quite powerful...but Raiden is no pushover. Such as when he throws around giant mechs the size of large buildings, one of which is probably small town level (Excelsus). And he’s without much doubt faster, just overall (Such as his introduction feat at the very start of MGR’s Intro Mission, with the shipping crates). So, without the Infinity Gautlet, I really cant see him defeating Raiden. It’s just a matter of Raiden’s overall speed and precision that would make this fight much less interesting.
However, if we’re talking about COMIC Thanos, then yeah, Raiden is screwed both ways.

The spine is comprised of multiple vertebrae held together by several ligaments, so even if Raiden's sword couldn't cut through adamantium, he could still separate Wolverine's head from his body by cutting between his vertebrae

Raiden's blade, Muromasa, targets things on a molecular level, which makes it able to cut most things, so I guess you could say Raiden *cut him down* to size.

Adding to Raiden's speed, during the Monsoon fight rain drops STOPPED completely while in blade mode and ripper mode, meaning he likely moves faster than light its self in ripper mode!
The raindrop exhibit doesn't give him FTL properties, I believe. It just gives him speed that is very much beyond the speed of sound. Still, that's VERY DAMN FAST.

I had a sudden thought, how can Raiden take Wolverine's blows and not be cut apart or disarmed sooner? Does he also regenerate? If the machine parts get damaged I would assume Wolverine can outlast him just as well as he can get decapitated.
Though then again while the claws are indestructible and sharp I guess the physical power behind them has some limits until Wolverine went into berserker mode, like that episode in Samurai Jack where he needed a tech gauntlet to augment his swinging power
He carries repair nanopaste (basically nanobots that repair his body when he uses it) also yes Wolvie's claws only have the striking power of Wolvie's arms
You guys didn’t even mention that if he replaces his hair with a red wig he gets infinite Riper mode also he has a shock blade that stuns and he has sundowner, mistral and monsoons weapons
