The best Chinese drama of the year even though it was quite melancholy. The soundtrack was so beautiful. A stellar cast, unforgettable storyline and the cinematography was amazing.
This is one of the my reason why I love cdramas esp historical.. Very extravagant.. Fascinating.... Colorful... No one ugly allowed.. Great costume design.. Perfect

Excellent performances! ❤️💯 From casting, costumes, music, script, I truly enjoyed it. Well, a little violence. But that's not much compared with modern day drug movies. Hope you like it 😊🎥📸🎼

Even this song brings back their painful story back into mind; Wonderful actors and storyline I will watch it again, when i need a good cry in the future. I think they've made a short continuation of this drama of them being reincarnated in the modern time. That's how this drama left the audience with a broken heart, that they needed to add a little extra scene of them having a happy ending. Behind the scene clip at the ending, even he couldn't stopped crying despite the director said cut, he was still crying. Peng Xiaoran consoles Chen Xingxu, you could tell he put a lot of passion in his lead character story.

To be honest, I gave up not even halfway through the series because the male lead exhausted me with his selfishness. I have seen snippets and read a lot about the ending and it makes sense why Xiao Feng (the girl) ended up doing what she does in the end because in this world, there was just too much pain and wrongs keeping them from ever being truly happy together and she chose her own path to be free of him so he could stop chasing after her. However, there are also 4 short special episode videos that were released after the series finale (which are also on RUclips) that show a happy ending for the couple in their reincarnated lives in modern day, which I have mixed feelings about. I suppose it's good that in another life, they can be together without the burdens of their pasts hanging over them.

I remember I stopped watching this drama because I became affected with it and I couldn't even sleep, my parents noticed that my daily life was changing and counselled me. When they found out the reason, my phone and laptop was taken from me and they made appointments with my doctor
Aiza Taray yup it was a really very very sad ending I couldn’t help shedding lots of tears though the title alone could have been a reminder how sad the ending would be. But when I started watching it, I could not help but just to continue watching that I seemed to forget the title “Goodbye....” that’s why i really did not anticipate it’s sad ending. I had to watch a ROM COM just to get my mind off that drama. LOL
But LCY reallly loved her too much too that in the later episode he become obsessed with her and even killed his own cousin. Like LCY jump after XF twice, the second one he was being held by general pei. Its all abt misunderstanding for me n stories not told properly 😭. Had LCY didnt treat XF so hostile n confessed his love for her (even before the marriage he already love her) , XF wouldnt be so determined to go back to her home. It was because she felt lonely n not receiving love from her husband that she missed home so badly. 😭. I hate it that general pei didnt say to LCY that he was xiaowu n he has lost memories with XF.

The OST is also really beautiful and the cinematography is really nice. Also fun fact, the 2 main leads had to learn horse riding for I think 2/3 months so dedication hahah
This drama makes me accept an unhappy ending drama and lead me to appreciate the whole scene they have made of a drama. Makes me now realize that the ending is not everything. I used to wait a happy ending and get disapointed when the drama met unhappy ending. But this drama change my view. It is worth to enjoy the whole story whatever the ending will be.

But this Chinese dynasty is fictional. It doesn't exist in history. Although regarding the marriage, that is true. And one of the reason polygamy was common in ancient China, it really mostly for political alliance. It makes more sense to have multiple princesses married directly to the crown prince. Sometimes they even have sisters marry the same prince. Another reason is that the Emperor needs a lot of sons to ensure somebody wise to be the successor (you do not necessarily need to pass the throne to the eldest son in ancient China.) Ancient China sees the Emperor as a public servant, despite it is a dictatorship government system. It is very different from Europe that sees the country as rightfully the King's and the concept of King is god's given right. So, the Emperor needs a lot of wives, in most dynasty they have rules, to prevent Princes from abusing this privilege. For example, in the Han dynasty, the Emperor can only have twelve wives and a prince can only have 6. But the interesting thing is, you think women marrying into the royal family, be OK about it, due to already know what they are getting themselves into, but not always the case and some still marry into the royal family with those "Cinderella dream come true" attitude and only get a reality shock, when her husband take on a second wife, which in that instance it is...And that is also why in ancient China there was also a saying "A smart woman won't marry a prince" because you need to be OK with polygamy and to a certain extent, it was the duty of a prince to have multiple wives, because it is about keeping the bloodline, to always ensure there are princes that are educated and capable to serve as a backup. So, even the prince doesn't want to practice polygamy, the society will condemn him for not fulfilling his royal duty.

才知道小枫的故事是有原型的：
秃发皇后（也译作拓跋），十六国时期南凉（梁）景王的女儿，西秦文昭王乞伏炽磐的皇后，叫秃发皇后并不是因为她没有头发，而是她姓秃发，具体名字暂且不详。秃发皇后能够留名青史的原因可不是因为相貌如何，而是因为她的却是个重情重义的女子!这个乞伏炽磐，就是李承鄞似的人物。名字很男主，行事也很李承鄞。房玄龄说他“叱咤风云，见机而动，牢笼俊杰，决胜多奇”。
秃发皇后生于十六国时期，中原地区陷入分裂的局面，在这十六国之中，西秦太祖乞伏炽磐应该算得上最有作为的了。
乞伏炽磐是西秦武元王乞伏乾归的长子，西秦第一次亡国后，乞伏炽磐被送往南梁为人质，在南梁为质期间，南凉国君秃发利鹿孤将弟弟秃发傉檀的女儿嫁给了乞伏炽磐，也就是后来的秃发皇后。突发皇后的父亲虽然不是老大，但深得哥哥信任，军国大事都由他来处理，所以乞伏炽磐以人质的身份娶了秃发氏，100%赚到了。
但乞伏炽磐是个不安分的人，“牢笼俊杰”嘛！两人成婚后第三年(公元400年11月)，乞伏炽磐计划逃跑，投奔在后秦的父亲乞伏乾归，不过，很不幸，他被捉了回来。国君秃发利鹿孤本下令将他杀死，不过弟弟秃发辱檀向来为人宽厚，不愿亲人受难，更何况乞伏炽磐是自己的女婿，于是出面向哥哥求情，方才保住乞伏炽磐一条命。两年后，乞伏炽磐再次抛弃秃发氏独自逃跑，并且成功的逃到了后秦国都长安。此时已经成为南凉国君的秃发辱檀再次不计前嫌，将已成为公主的女儿秃发氏送到了后秦乞和女婿团聚。真是南凉好岳父！
等到乞伏炽磐的父亲乞伏乾复国称王的时候，就立了他为太子，秃发氏就跟着他一起回到西秦，做了太子妃。本来一切都好，谁料乞伏乾没多久就被自己的侄子乞伏公府杀了。乞伏公府趁着乞伏乾归出去打猎，设下埋伏，把乞伏乾归和他十几个儿子全杀了。但这一次乞伏炽磐并没有同自己的老爸和兄弟们一起去打猎。于是他一收到老爸被杀的消息，马上就让人率3000人马杀了过去。
乞伏公府瞬间慌了，连忙跑路。结果他跑到夏国，乞伏炽磐的人就杀到夏国；跑到叠兰城，乞伏炽磐的人就杀到叠兰城；跑到嵻崀南山，乞伏炽磐的人就杀到嵻崀南山。最后把乞伏公府一家子都被抓回来车裂了。
由此可见，乞伏炽磐是个狠人。父亲去世后，乞伏炽磐继位，大赦天下，改年号为永康。正式称王后立妻子秃发氏为皇后。
成为国君的乞伏炽磐一心想成就一番伟业，先后收复了一些周边的部落，同时，也将目光放在了邻国--南凉的身上，正好遇到南凉闹灾荒，秃发傉檀举全国之兵跑去吐谷浑的乙弗部落打劫，一路劫得非常顺利，抢了牛马羊四十余万头。乞伏炽磐看到南凉国内兵力空虚，瞅准时机，亲自率领2万精兵袭击南凉，不到一月就攻陷南凉都城乐都，把老婆全家都抓了过来，逼岳父投降，让南凉亡国。
刚俘获秃发辱檀的时候，乞伏炽磐念在当初种种对他也算尊敬，并封为“骠骑大将军”，毕竟当初没有他求情，自己早就狗带了。但没多久就开始嫌弃岳父“老而不死”，秘密把他给毒死了。从头到尾，乞伏炽磐都对老婆秃发氏“待之如初”，十分宠爱。将秃发辱檀毒死后，乞伏炽磐对秃发皇后依然宠爱有加，仿佛没有发生过这件事一样。即使后来秃发皇后的哥哥秃发虎台企图与北凉一起叛变败露，乞伏炽磐乞伏炽磐看在秃发氏的面子上选择不追究，并依然宠爱秃发氏，反而还将自己的女儿嫁给了秃发皇后最小的异母弟弟秃发破羌。
但秃发皇后是个有情有义的人，她不可能看见自己的父亲被杀，国破家亡而无动于衷。所以，她表面接受着乞伏炽磐的宠爱，心里却对乞伏炽磐杀父灭国充满了仇恨，因此，忍辱负重，决心复仇。
说到这里，还有一个人就不得不提了，她就是秃发皇后的亲妹妹，乞伏炽磐的左夫人。秃发皇后的妹妹在南梁国灭的时候也嫁给了乞伏炽磐，并且也很受宠，因此被封为左夫人。不过，这个亲妹妹，可不如姐姐一般有情有义，她一心所想都是如何取代姐姐，成为皇后，丝毫都没有将自己国破家亡的事放在心上。
经过8年的准备过后，秃发皇后觉得自己已经培养了很多死党，便想联合哥哥秃发虎台刺杀乞伏炽磐。此次谋划自然没有瞒着妹妹左夫人，却没想到，真是亲妹妹将他们送上了黄泉路。一心想取代姐姐的左夫人认为这是个千载难逢的机会，于是出卖了哥哥姐姐，将刺杀计划密告乞伏炽磐。乞伏炽磐来质问秃发氏，秃发氏见图谋败露，索性大骂丈夫忘恩负义、狼心狗肺。炽磐恼羞成怒，将秃发兄妹及其同党十余人全部处死。

But LCY reallly loved her too much too that in the later episode he become obsessed with her and even killed his own cousin. Like LCY jump after XF twice, the second one he was being held by general pei. Its all abt misunderstanding for me n stories not told properly 😭. Had LCY didnt treat XF so hostile n confessed his love for her (even before the marriage he already love her) , XF wouldnt be so determined to go back to her home. It was because she felt lonely n not receiving love from her husband that she missed home so badly. 😭. I hate it that general pei didnt say to LCY that he was xiaowu n he has lost memories with XF.
I also feel sad for her. Imagine being constantly yelled at when she did nothing wrong n having to witness her love doting another woman (although it was only an act),, but stilll.. aaarrggghhhh

wishyou werehere It’s called Goodbye my princess and it came out in 2019. hmm if ur up for a super emotional and melancholic type historical drama then this is for you but don’t worry it’s also quite funny. The OST is also really beautiful and the cinematography is really nice. Also fun fact, the 2 main leads had to learn horse riding for I think 2/3 months so dedication hahah

But this Chinese dynasty is fictional. It doesn't exist in history. Although regarding the marriage, that is true. And one of the reason polygamy was common in ancient China, it really mostly for political alliance. It makes more sense to have multiple princesses married directly to the crown prince. Sometimes they even have sisters marry the same prince. Another reason is that the Emperor needs a lot of sons to ensure somebody wise to be the successor (you do not necessarily need to pass the throne to the eldest son in ancient China.) Ancient China sees the Emperor as a public servant, despite it is a dictatorship government system. It is very different from Europe that sees the country as rightfully the King's and the concept of King is god's given right. So, the Emperor needs a lot of wives, in most dynasty they have rules, to prevent Princes from abusing this privilege. For example, in the Han dynasty, the Emperor can only have twelve wives and a prince can only have 6. But the interesting thing is, you think women marrying into the royal family, be OK about it, due to already know what they are getting themselves into, but not always the case and some still marry into the royal family with those "Cinderella dream come true" attitude and only get a reality shock, when her husband take on a second wife, which in that instance it is...And that is also why in ancient China there was also a saying "A smart woman won't marry a prince" because you need to be OK with polygamy and to a certain extent, it was the duty of a prince to have multiple wives, because it is about keeping the bloodline, to always ensure there are princes that are educated and capable to serve as a backup. So, even the prince doesn't want to practice polygamy, the society will condemn him for not fulfilling his royal duty.
