I have a Choc controller and I love it. I know it looks like they're trying to market them more on weird, hipstery aesthetics (which I happen to like the looks of but that's very subjective) than functionality, but they actually work well considering how cheap they are. I wouldn't use it as my main Switch controller and I honestly use it more for emulation on my phone phone, but it's very small and very flat which makes it good for portability

the fighting gamepad is that some people enjoy D-pads better than stick and it totally has some advantages... dashes for example are so much easier to do on a D-pad and for most things the travel distance is shorter than with an arcade stick
I don't they are really into fighting games so I forgive them not getting it, but yeah Hori and Mayflash are basically the 2 biggest names in fighting game controller manufacturers. That said, I do kind of agree with them given smash is made SPECIFICALLY with analog inputs in mind for movement. If it was like one of their OCTA controllers where it has an octagonal L-stick + a standard 6 button pad it would probably be fantastic for smash, but regular saturn layout isn't gonna work for most platform fighters, and most people into the traditional fighting games that are on switch are gonna play on PS4/5 and PC. So that controller is kind of useless unless you use it on PC (which you can thankfully). However, Hori's Switch Pad and Switch Pad+ are easily two of the best 3rd party controllers I've ever used for ANY console, despite both being significantly cheaper than 1st party options. The only downside is that they don't have rumble... which is like a feature nobody has cared about since the early-mid 2000s. We just kind of accept it as standard (thanks to Sony wanting to 1-up the N64 with Dualshock) rather than actively want it. Hori has always been making arguably the best 3rd party controllers.
I think if Sonic 06 was successful, Elise would've been a regular character but in the Daisy way. Never in main story but in the spinoffs. She's got a kingdom to take care of! Can't just follow the Sonic cast like a liability in any main story lol

While it does feel cheap, the retro fighter duelist is my favorite switch controller. I am also playing with the Retro Fighters BladeGC right now. That's a good controller too, but it falls short in a few places.
i actually use the mini controller 13:37 its pretty cromulent actually, but not for games with very exact inputs. good enough for minecraft and animal crossing, not so good for super monkey ball
Peter, the Genesis style controller is what the fgc would call a fight pad, they're kinda like a half way point from just regular controller to a whole fight stick. They are really good for players (like me) who like to play fighting games but don't want to fully commit to learning, and buying, a fight stick. A significant number of pro players do actually use controllers like that. I have one by power and it works exactly for what I need it for.
