No way!! We can’t even fix our roads without a supposed new/higher tax. How in the world are we supposed to give out free everything to over 500 school aged people plus their families… how many more people will eventually we have to school, house, feed etc? We voted all of you in for OUR BEST INTEREST not politics or what looks good or bad. We cannot afford this in our county. It’s a NO!! Not a maybe, let’s think about it , we’ll see, future discussion, NO! It’s a No Now, & In the future, NO! We don’t care how much money/funds you’re promised, or a do this then you’ll get that, No! It will ultimately cost the entire residents of our town in many ways. Many are already struggling in the over crowding in schools, affecting teachers and their students. Also in jobs that residents are overwhelmingly outnumbered by the number of people, families they serve with no help or hope of enough money in the budget for new hires. Everyone is already overworked, underpaid, and underserved as it is, we DON’T have the means for 500 or 50 not to mention their entire families, extended family relatives, etc…Good grief!!
We, so the larger County Government, "cannot serve them", and Sutter Country can? Well then, we cannot serve them either. Where are these Afghan children? Common sense tells us that the "larger community" are much more able to serve them, than Our smaller, Sutter Community. "COMMON SENSE"!
A lot of these Afghani refugees are actually educated people. Many that I've met with are doctors, engineers, logistics managers, etc. They're really not far off from being self sufficient. A lot of them just need to learn some English and need help finding work. Some of them already know English. Yuba county has help of of their assigned refugees schooling and employment thru the OneStop. If they can do it, Sutter County can do it. Shaw needs to stop deflecting responsibility. If he wants an easier government job he can do something else.

A lot of them are educated actually. I know most of them, they're engineers, doctors, former military.
