Perfect lazy day recipe: bulk bin pasta or polenta, sauteed rainbow chard, garlic and white beans with a squeeze of lemon (and some rind) topped with parmesan and Aleppo or red pepper flakes also klean kanteen can keep stuff hot/warm for over a day, it's outrageous ❤
If you buy cheese from cheese shops, most cheeses are not pre-cut & wrapped, so you can bring your own container!

Hey! For composting, there are small countertop compost bins that are extremely affordable that you should look into! Also, if you don’t have a lot of backyard space, I would get in touch with a local farm, botanical garden or arboretum to see if you can drop off you compost. I know in NY we have compost drop off sites all over the city, LA might have a system too! Stores I love to low/zero waste shop on are: ZeroWasteStore, Package Free Shop and Plastic Free Pursuit. I would avoid online retailers like Grove Collaborative - I ordered from them once and almost everything was covered in plastic 😐. Also, some of my favorite channels for low waste are Madeleine Olivia, Sedona Christine, and A Small Wardrobe. Some really smart women leading the charge ❤️
Hello! First, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your content. I have struggled with anxiety for the past year, and your videos are the only things to calm me down. Even the vlogs have been extremely helpful for me to slow my breathing down. I’m grateful for your creativity more than you know! You’ve honestly inspired to open my eyes to limiting my waste and reusing glass containers to store some food.
You could put all the vegetable scraps in the freezer and then when you have enough, make vegetable broth. Very easy.
Love this! Thanks for spreading encouragement for people to reduce their waste. I recently started a backyard compost and I’m so proud of it. Glad you touched on the fact that it’s pretty unattainable to be completely zero waste in all areas of your life. The focus should instead be reducing our waste as much as possible. A great way to do this is to consume less, only buying something when we really need it. BTW those sourdough tortillas look amazing! I have to try that recipe. Did you make your own sourdough starter?
Great job on figuring out a composting system that works for you! This is something I would like to diligently start doing in our yard. It's hard when you live in a city with a lot of rodents/insects, but I think composting is one of the most important ways to lessen waste. The sourdough starter we have now was given to us by a friend, but I have made my own in the past and it is very easy. Here's a helpful guide I've used a few times: bit.ly/3cIzdCF
itsblitzzz thanks! I was nervous about pests too, but as long as you have a tight fitting lid you should be fine. I just used a big trash can (50 gallon I think) and drilled holes around the top and bottom, then propped it up on a few bricks. You want to make sure it has good airflow. I added extra security with a bungee cord over the lid. No problems so far! Definitely worth giving it a shot. Thanks for the sourdough starter guide!! Can’t wait to make sourdough bread and those tortillas, yum 😋

low-waste bathroom swaps!! I struggle so bad with low-waste bathroom products. I've tried shampoo and conditioner bars before but they didn't really work for me. I'd love to see which plastic-free items you use!
Great video! I appreciate being real on zero waste/ low waste. I have never felt more judged, than telling people I try to low my waste or eat more plant based foods. Some people just think that I would give up on all waste or animal products/ meats.. It many times left me feeling that my chages then don’t help at all. It is really toxic way of thinking as I feel that every change, even a small one, is for the better.. I hope this video makes those people to see that all changes help and nobody is ”perfect”. And sometimes as a consumer it is hard to know. In the end it should be government who makes regulations about these things and what kind of packaging is used so the people who don’t care, will also make a change! So please people : vote ❤️👀 !

As a fellow cat owner, I’ve always wondered what products you use for your cats (food, litter, etc), as it’s difficult to be eco-friendly, especially when it comes to their litter. Would love to see you cover that in a video! xo❤️

i find that i definitely need a "designated" coffee thermos/bottle because over time the oils penetrate the inner walls and no matter how thoroughly i wash the bottle or soak it with baking soda and vinegar the coffee flavour never really goes away... so what i've done is i've labeled my bottles, there's a coffee one, a tea one and a water one. my partner doesn't seem to pick up on the flavour as much so he sometimes uses the tea one for water. we also have two keepcups that we use when we go to coffee places and even bubble tea places though mine (12oz) is usually too small for the standard "small" size there and depending on the person they won't accept it...
LOVE your ASMR videos. Not saying anything is wrong w/ you talking in the the ASMR videos, but have you considered making ones w/o talking? Just sounds? I think you could make really amazing ones!!
The bulk store is one of my major dreams right now to have here in Philippines. I start my journey to zero waste right after I watched your ASMR roleplay selling sustainable products. Luckily i was able to buy reusable cotton pads, mentrual pads and silicone bags online.. but we dont have bulk store here. 😭😭😭

some handy tips on legumes when short on soaking time: adding bicarbonate soda to the soaking liquid helps a lot with hydrating the beans faster (by making the water more alkaline) and adding salt only when the beans are almost done can also speed up the process (however, cooking it in salty liquid from the very beginning makes it much more flavourful). great content as always! take care! xx

This video is coming at a really good time for me. I’ve recently decided to make conscious decisions about everything I purchase from now on, especially the essentials I have to repurchase often like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. Right now I still need to use up what I have but I am very excited to make this transition!

I strongly suggest getting a tumbler composter (they have ones that are on legs and not on the ground so no rodents will get it in). Composting makes me feel so much better, the byproduct can be used in your garden, and you will have way less trash/your trash will smell less. You can even compost undyed paper towels and some paper products which is great.
We have cut our paper towel usage down to 2-3 rolls a month using big muslin cloths for all cooking, cleaning, and tidying. They're super cheap and you can wash them again and again or bleach them to get them back to white. I've also been drying all my clothes on a drying rack instead of in the dryer because we have the space in the basement (I just bought a giant rack).
I've also been buying in bulk everything I can (olive oil, rice, vinegar, spices, flour, sugar) and then putting them in nice glass bottles on my counter/ in my pantry for storage. I love gardening and there's a lot of plastic waste when buying plants so I always make sure to reuse the plastic and save it for future use as it often comes in handy (also growing a lot more from seed and propagating seeds myself).
I only use bar soap for washing my face and body. And I recently invested in reusable cotton rounds (the ones you showed in your video collab with package free shop) and I finally purchased a safety razor and it's amazing!! I was so scared to use it but its super easy and my skin is so soft. Those are two of my most recent switches.
Loved the short veggie ASMR!! The chili looked good. I've definitely made the mistake of under-soaking my beans and it look me almost 12 hours to make baked beans haha.

I love your approach to reducing your waste. When you're up to it, I would love to see what you've done in your bathroom/beauty regime. I started with replacing makeup rounds with bamboo cotton ones, as well as using washers for most other things. I can't work my head around reusable cotton buds.

Loved this video. I’m definitely going to try the tortillas! When I’m using dried beans, I soak them overnight and then I boil them in plain water until they’re soft. Then when they’re soft, I add them to the dish I’m making. That way you know they’ll be soft when all your veggies are cooked 😍

Can relate to going through personal struggles - feel like your failing? Feel like your life is going nowhere ? Feel like you don’t know what your purpose is?? I can also relate. Having a good support network really helps, especially really good friends, that’s what has helped me. The feeling will pass..it comes in waves for me..but it will pass. We are all on our journey.

I use all my fresh food scraps to make vegetable broth. Just throw your scraps in the freezer and when you have a full container add herbs and water and boil it for a delicious homemade broth.

If you're having trouble with composting because it's attracting rodents and other critters, what's worked really well for me is getting a Bokashi bucket. It's kind of like a compost bucket that you can keep inside (you also get a spray to keep it from smelling). Every so often you drain the liquid that accumulates at the bottom, via a tap (great for the garden by the way! (when diluted)), and when it fills up you just dig a hole, dump the rest of the scraps in there and fill it in. I've really loved it and it's made composting so much easier
