And the "Pirate Summit" thing probably cimes from the French "Sommet de la Piraterie", which basically means that Ace is telling Luffy they'll meet at the top of the ladder of the pirate world (so, as Emperors basically). The way it's phrased would make perfect sense in French, but definitly not in English.

I've got a theory that the One Piece is a literal ship called Friendship. Not intangible like Oda wanted to avoid, and punny enough to make sense as far as comedy goes.

Well, actually, what Ace said was 海賊の高み. 海賊 means pirate or pirating. の is a possessive article meaning "of", and 高み means either "height", or "elevated place". You could translate it as summit I guess. So all in all, he told him to become a great pirate and reach the top of the pirating world. Now, the Marineford War is also called the Summit War in the actual canon story. It's called 頂上戦争 (choujou sensou). 頂上 means "top", "summit", "peak". 戦争 means "war".

This will be the final bit of motivation both Luffy and Buggy need/get to really get them to move forward and thematically lets them both achieve their respeftive dreams for his sake. Luffy to make good on his "great pirate promise", leaving his straw hat on laugh tale or wherever the one piece is, or wherever Shanks is buried, finally able to return it after becoming a great pirate, and Buggy makes it to Laugh Tale and is able to achieve the dream both he and Shanks had as kids, that he set aside for Shanks' sake after Roger's execution but had reignited enough to actually do it, but for both if their dreams and not just his own or Shanks, and become the titled Pirate King as such.
As a new one piece fan I bust out laughing at the pirate summit. I can see myself getting so hype for such a thing and then being so disappointed when I found out it wasn't even a thing. Lmao

Well, actually, what Ace said was 海賊の高み. 海賊 means pirate or pirating. の is a possessive article meaning "of", and 高み means either "height", or "elevated place". You could translate it as summit I guess. So all in all, he told him to become a great pirate and reach the top of the pirating world. Now, the Marineford War is also called the Summit War in the actual canon story. It's called 頂上戦争 (choujou sensou). 頂上 means "top", "summit", "peak". 戦争 means "war".
find the whitebeard vs. luffy meeting funny(especially during that time luffy would've been wrecked hard.)/compared to the buster call do feel like some factions could've gotten involved with kaido considering the buildup his goal got(especially the grand fleet for a few scenes like bringing jinbei over with how sudden it felt not showing what happened to the sun pirates/the marines screwing themselves over HARD fighting the warlords when the only one they defeated being weevil and letting luffy get ancient power to an extreme degree.).
though do find interesting some parts of the series were predicted nearly 20 years ago(about around the time i was getting into shonen jump.:3) & like the name pirate summit.(do think a part of the ending will be showing the strawhats traveling through the past islands reuniting with/returning allies back home.)
