I totally agree about how broken the health care system is. I took my 87 year old mother in law to the ER and waited 36 hours for her to be seen. That only happened because I started screaming my dog is treated better than my MIL. And they should be ashamed. There isn’t enough staff and it is a shame. The nurses who were there were wonderful and very tired. So very sad.

A big problem is that people use the ER for non emergencies! ie Abdomen pain for 2 months, sore throat for 1 day. They clog up the er for people who have real emergencies!

Hi Tessie, I'm a medical professional. It would be best to throw out the nuts to be safe. It might be something other than shell. You did the right thing. If the pain returns or you run a fever get in w/your PCP & have an MRI done. Yes, eat lightly but keep hydrated..maybe soup broth. In a few days you most likely will feel better. Watch your urine & stools to make sure it's normal colored. Look up natural substances that are very helpful & effective for taking whole body inflammation down. Yes, everything medicine is so drastically & horribly broken & we all have to do our best to help the most frail & vulnerable around us. Prayers for you, prayers for all. & God Bless you. 🙏💗

@Dawn-zg6gc- Yes I agree. I have had 3 MRIs in the past 11 months. First was to ID that my gall bladder needed to come out. The other two were for my liver. My inflamed gall bladder gave me acute pancreatitis and hepatitis. I'm on a very strict diet that restricts fats, red meat, processed foods, etc. It has helped me a lot. I eat walnuts in moderation, but shelled. And definitely no popcorn!

@@Myfavorites877If it were that she would start to run a fever.. & possibly have GI upset or changes in bowels etc . My suggestion, to be safe and to avoid any worry, would be for Tessie to followup with her PCP who could rule out any potential problem. They might do bloodwork or do an MRI only if further symptoms warranted it. It sounds like Tessie is feeling better but I just felt it necessary for her to have guidelines which the ER had already hopefully given to her.

My go to as much as I hate, is store canned beets. At the top of the list for cleaning out toxins from the body. Other foods also, can find these foods online easily. Beets also athletes use to regulate pH levels. Gatorade and Pedialyte also. Have these on standby for flu's and colds. Ice cold Sprite from my childhood. Beets in my humble opinion cleans our toxins and could prevent blood poisoning. Just some unsolicited advice I hope maybe a bit helpful.

I sometimes cry on the way home thinking I did the very best I could do, but how could I have done anything better? Many days I feel unappreciated. Two years ago, I was sent to the ER by an urgent care clinic. I was severely dehydrated and had diabetic ketoacidosis. There's a long story of the nightmare that happened, but this is just the summary. I was in the waiting room for 16 hours even though I was sent by another facility. Within minutes of finally being taken back, I lost consciousness, coded and almost died because of the delay in receiving treatment. My organs failing, brain swelling, I was in a coma. I spent a week in CCU. I have permanent damage from that experience. My heart has AFib now and my coordination/balance is ruined.
I do not blame the doctors and nurses that treated me. I blame the hospital corporations for not hiring enough staff. They had empty beds but not enough nurses to fill them. Hospital beds sit empty while sick patients are literally dying because of the long wait and delay of care.
Like you, I saw many other very sick patients also waiting. Many left without being seen in hopes that another local ER could see them sooner. I am terrified of ever going back.

I want to cry reading this. Finally someone in the general public gets this! Most people lash out at staff, sometimes physically, for the shortages and lack of resources. No one seems to hold the administrators and upper corporate (who make millions annually) responsible for the decisions and actions that are resulting in this!

    • @mixedbouquet1
      @mixedbouquet1 7 часов назад

@@GW-gz8jh It wasn't easy to understand this while sitting in the waiting room. I have zero memory of what happened after I went back, but my family saw everything. My son told me that the nurses were doing their best, and when I coded everyone came running. Which saved my life, but I know that all the extra people needed to help me...they were also needed for their other patients who were then being neglected.
It was even worse when I was admitted. After I left CCU(which seemed well staffed), I went to a step down unit. That was a nightmare. OMG. Nightmare. It became clear that there simply wasn't enough nurses and aides to help. That's where I saw the empty beds and asked about them. They said that they didn't have enough people to handle the occupied beds. They couldn't open any more without more nurses.
I had no choice but to get myself to the bathroom even though I wasn't allowed to get up unassisted. I peed the bed after waiting two hours after pushing the call button and nobody came. This happened more than once so I just stopped pushing the button and got myself up despite my orders. They never even knew I was doing that.
I could hear them working in other rooms. They were busy caring for patients. If I had seen them sitting around the nurses station or joking in the halls, it would be different. They were doing their best. And the fatigue was evident in their faces when they did come in to change my IV, give my insulin or draw blood.
Yes, I am angry at the administrations. My heart goes out to all the nurses who are being run into the ground. They chose a profession to help people but their bosses don't let them do that properly.

Experienced this with my daughter- the wait, the dismissive attitude due to lack of staff, and then a $1,700.00 bill after ins. After 8hrs in the ER she was sent home with, "Your surgeon doesn't want to admit you (via phone) and we can't give you anymore pain meds without admitting you. Sorry." I brought her home still spitting up blood & in so much pain she eventually became delirious & passed out. I called a family friend who is a Nurse Practioner for help at dawn. God Bless him. Glad you're feeling better. We hear about long waits at the hospitals all the time, like around 12 hours. My sister's mother in law had an issue with her colon, and she was there with her 82 year old husband for 12 hours, and she is 80. It's terrible what's going on. Like you said, it's like third world country status here. So glad you're not in any pain. That sounds terrible.

I agree with the current state of the healthcare system. I retired after over 30 yrs in healthcare. I first experienced the lingering effects of the Covid mess hospitals put in place when my son was a patient for couple days after a minor procedure. This was in 2022. My mom and sister were in a car accident last yr and I was shocked at the trauma care and ICU care that was being given. I never let anyone know I am a nurse, I just sit back and watch and boy was I mad throughout that stay. Sadly my mom didnt make it, so this Nov will be a yr since she passed, and now is the time I am writing a letter to the hospital to let them know all the breakdowns in her care.

Thankful you're ok, Tessie. I agree; our healthcare system is broken. So many people I know have gone to doctors, including specialists, and gotten substandard care-even having their concerns and obvious signs of illness dismissed. I've always had to be CPR certified for work, but learning other skills and being prepared with supplies is an excellent plan. Rest and get well. ❤

Well if your Dr's office is closed .....you have to go to ER
And no Dr will take on a new patient as an emergency .
When you are having excruciating pain they tell us go to

Tessie so sorry this happened to you. Yes I seen for myself how broken our health system is especially in ER. Not enough nurses and yes I’ve waited 10 hours just to be seen just awful. My daughter is a nurse in ICU in Boston and she sees a lot!! God Bless the workers but they really should do something about ER and wait time!! Get better and rest.

It's been this way for decades. In the 90's a trip to the ER we didn't see a doctor for nearly 16 hours and ended up with an emergency surgery. In the early 2000's several trips to the emergency room for different family members, different hospitals, different cities and the same situation. I haven't seen any improvement as far as wait time in emergency. One thing that does remain the same....the nurses are there for us, and they are worked hard and they always have been. Glad you are on the mend.😀

Sobering... meanwhile in lovely Canada... earlier this year I waited 3 days and 2 full nights sitting in a chair (eventually moved to a reclining chair... too kind.) in a full Emergency room, with EXTREME pain... pancreatitis, which led to 3 surgeries for gallbladder removal and 2 revisions. I am now on a 21 day fast, and am going to do everything in my power to be as healthy as possible... I never want to relive that nightmare. True story, as God is my witness. Welcome to Chinada.

I'm so glad you're doing better, Tessie. I recommend this book: When the Village Has No Doctor. It tells you how to do everything; how to set bones, do stitches, treat all sorts of ailments. It is also illustrated which is great. I bought it because there may come a time when healers such as us will be a valuable necessity to our neighbors. ❤
