    If memory serves me right all the BAE weapons systems had “combat proven” stands parked alongside them.
    If you go there today, 37 years later, there are 4 Type 45’s resting and a few rather careworn Type 23’s.
    Oh yes and two HUGE Aircraft Carriers. For the hard of military funding HMS Invincible cost £200 million to build in the very late 70’s. HMS QE & POW built in the teenies (or is it tweenies) cost £3.2 Billion apiece........

    The rn left half of their ships in the South Atlantic in 1982. Hermes and invincible were planned to be sold also prior to the Falklands. God bless Margaret Thatcher!

    No surprise so few viewings ... Southsea is NOT a Naval Port, it's a Seafront Holiday Resort at best.
    I think you maybe referring to HMNB Portsmouth, which as it's title implies, IS one of Her Majesties Naval Bases
