- After hearing the sad news about the passing of Dave Prowse I decided to dig into the archive and pull together some unseen interview clips from our time together in 2015.
In these bonus clips he reacts to seeing Kylo Ren for the first ever time, how he would have dealt with Vader's infamous Episode 3 "NOOOOOO" and he talks about how he'd love to appear in another Star Wars film. Which of course sadly never happened.
There's also some extended clips from the main interview such as Dave talking about the fall out from his falling out with George Lucas and how he used his bodybuilding experience to lift the Emperor in Return of The Jedi.

Very sad how the falling out between Lucas and Prowse happened and that there never was any kind of reconciliation and Prowse was barred from so much. He seemed like such a nice person. Would have loved to see him get even a cameo type role in the new films.

My other halfs father had the great honour to meet The Late David Prowse. Back in the day David played the part of Green Cross Code Man. My other halfs father worked for ROSPA (ROyal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) part of Suffolk County Council Highways. My other halfs dad, Brian, was a Road Safety Officer. David and Brian made good friends.
RIP David Prowse (1936-2020).

A lovely tribute. I understand why he and George fell out. Dave did leak the plot of the movie before it came out. But it was a very long time ago and life is very short. It's a real shame they didn't make up in some capacity because I think it would have meant a lot to Dave.

Excellent way to honor such an icon, Jamie. David not only had a towering presence within the Star Wars franchise, but within the fandom as well. Godspeed Lord Vader, your truly now one with The Force.

Lovely clips of a lovely man. As well as Darth Vader he will always be the green cross code man to me. Born in 71, he literally taught me how to be safe around the roads. Thanks for sharing Jamie, and thanks forever to Mr Prowse!

Bloody hell that gave me the feels. Sad hearing how he felt ostrosised from star wars that's not right poor Dave. He's such a legend. He was in Dr who in the 70s too. Great interview mate how awesome to meet him like that.

Sad in 2013 I had the privilege to escort Dave Prowse as Vader at the Montreal comiccon he was very gentle and came close to me and told me thanks for the escort.
Those are great memories.

“I’ve been looking forward to this”. But no seriously thanks for putting this together, I especially enjoyed hearing Dave talk about lifting the Emperor up. I’m sure he told you but apparently they tried to film that scene with Bob Anderson (Dave’s double), and he just wasn’t strong enough to pick Ian McDiarmid up. Dave goes up to Richard Marquand and says he can do it, and does it in one take. Such an awesome story. If I were interviewing Dave I would’ve asked more about his involvement in Return of the Jedi, because apparently they used Bob Anderson in some scenes where he wasn’t even fighting, and this was apparently just because Marquand wasn’t fond of Mr Prowse. I would’ve loved to have asked Dave if he were in the suit for the scene where Vader’s lying on the floor just after his hand is cut off, and if it’s him in the suit when he walks up to the Emperor while he’s shocking Luke. Even if Dave couldn’t really remember, I still would’ve loved to have seen what he would’ve said, and I probably would’ve pulled my phone out to watch certain scenes with him, to work out whether he or Bob was in the suit for particular scenes. Either way, enough of my paragraph, I guess we’ll never know. Thanks Jamie, RIP Dave.

I can tell when it’s prowse as Vader , his presence is unmistakable , in Jedi all scenes except I would say for the technical duels with Luke but every other Vader scene , most iconic when he lands at the start of the movie the walk the head movements the hand gestures all Dave , I can tell even when they used other guys in the other movies , they may be of tall stature but they don’t put out daves energy and the way he moves ,, it’s so fucking Vaderesque RIP david prowse is darth Vader physically , and James Earl jones ❤️

I always assumed that either it was trick photography with a dummy or that the Emperor was on wires. I didn't realise David Prowse actually lifted him! NEAT!

@@TheGeeknd I'm surprised they did it that way-I would have thought it easier to use wires.
But then again, it was FAB and BRILL that the Emperor was a young actor! (He's younger than the actor who played Han Solo). This way, the same actor could reprise the role in the prequels. **And it could have easily have been an older actor as there was nothing physical required for the role**

I know a lot of people liked seeing Vader in Rogue One, but it always bothered me that the actor in the suit didn't move like Prowse did in A New Hope. Thanks for posting this.

@@KOMHuntTV Yes, I’d read about the leaked vader storyline - it wasn’t 100% proven it was him.
@@JerseyPB ah so you know the answer then. just to save confusion, I’ve removed my reply as it seems it was was Jedi.
“Dave remembers that the Daily Mail published a piece headlined “Darth Vader to be killed off in the next movie, in an interview with David Prowse” the next day, saying “and that ruined my association with Star Wars.”
He added: “I was ostracized while on the movie, the producer and director wouldn’t work with me, and Lucas wouldn’t speak to me. I had six weeks of purgatory.”
