    this means that the rot began when Kohli got Kumble fired. It showed that a player was more powerful than the Board. Since then, this culture of individual liberties must have started in the Kohli-Shastri era and had become the norm by the time Dravid came in. And this was probably why Dravid wanted out at the earliest opportunity.

      You don't seem to understand the business model of cricket in India. We aren't like football where people have eternal loyalty to their teams. Most people watch RCB matches because they want to see Kohli play and they watch CSK matches to get a glimpse at Dhoni. Indian cricket is very much a personality driven business. Without individuals, the profit margins will take huge hits.

    • @85Sudi
      @85Sudi 6 часов назад +5

      @@Pranav_Bhamidipati I don't think this requires any 'understanding' as what you wrote is blatantly obvious. I just don't give a damn about profit margins. I want to see India win.

      @@85Sudi So you mean to see India was not winning for last 7-8 years. If this was all in rot then how were results being produced for so many years. Every team do have such falls that doesn't mean everything becomes bad. Also margins are important the things we enjoy is because our board is so rich. Be it not playing in Pakistan which comes from power which we get from those margins. Everyone wants to see India win. But does that mean you will bring stuff which were not the most important as reaction. Families were not the problems, the defensive captaincy and baseless strategies were.
      Even Australia had lost series to us in 2020, that too from a tier 2 team India. But ntg of such sort came as reaction while they have been in a habit winning for previous 4 decades. These kind of reactions just make things more complicated instead solving. If you want to change team culture it takes time. These players have achieved a lot as well as they are pretty senior. They are not school kids that will make rules and everything will change. If anything it will create more tensions amongst them as well as board.

      @@saptarshipal6743 you're crazy to think that what I wrote was about WAGs. Kohli was once my favourite player in the team too. But he has not performed in tests for FIVE years! In the real world, individualism and preferential treatment is tolerated only as long as you perform on the pitch. That's how it goes with Messi, Vinicius, Mbappe. It's a give-and-take. When the player does not produce for half a decade however, any preferential treatment he receives needs to be weeded out promptly, because this is just an ordinary player now, who must prove himself worthy of being selected and contribute to the team spirit if he is.

    • @saptarshipal6743
      @saptarshipal6743 3 часа назад +1

      @@85Sudi Now that's what twisted thinking is called. First let me come to Kohli.He has been not performing at his level for sure. But still he has okayish. Also from mid 2022 to IPL 2024. He was inform. He was making runs everywhere. He was your best batsman in world cup just a year back. He has won orange cap just 6-7 months back. So yes he is Virat of 2016-17 but he doing decent enough that is why he is in team. The other thing people around him aren't playing well enough to replace him. Iyer, Rahul, Gill, Sarfaraz. Let's be very honest none of them have played well enough that you would choose them before Virat. You would still choose Virat and the reasons is his immense experience. You as a person are just seeing him at current position. But when he walks in that dressing room he is a legend. The guy who has carried the team for years and has 81 centuries. Only behind Sachin who is GOD for most of us. That's his level. Regardless of what he does you can't treat him like 18yr old. You can be strict sure but you can't be a taskmaster. With players Bumrah,Rohit and Kohli you have go and talk to them and convince them. And they have done enough to reach at that level. Let's be honest whatever form Sachin was. Would you start treating him like normal if he is not scoring.
      Their is a way treat senior players and international players. And then comes this generation. Things have changed. If it didn't work in 2007-08 then times have moved even more in 2025. How would it fair well in 2025. Would Liles of Gill and Pant and Sundars taking it normally. Especially when your seniors are being treated like that. After all these players themselves enjoy star culture when seniors are not around. When our B team went to Zimbabwe, all eyes were on Gill. He was the star player in that series. This is the truth of this age.
      Strict decision implementation with conversations and discussion is right. But such things implemented like task master for a school kid is not going fair well. No mid 30yr old after doing so much is going to put up with this. For that matter even we in our respective fields we wouldn't have listened if we were told to work like this with an experience of 15-16 yrs. Let alone stars like them.
      Also just to add the team culture is not only out of them. Many juniors players travel alone from car. And don't come to practice with team bus or stay separately. It's seen in many occasions. Virat and Rohit being the seniors are just scapegoats but reality this is the reality of players who are just 2 yr old in the team. So it's more than we think. Thus I told Virat and Rohit are not the main issue but other things are and if things are treated like this. Tensions would build inside the team. And many of those tensions are going to come from others though seniors would be blamed.
      And this has happened earlier as well. In 2017 only Virat was scapegoat but many seniors didn't want how Kumble operated. Infact the work ethic Virat had he wouldn't mind practicing everyday we all know that. But yet things happened the way it happened and then we saw how tensions inside the team rise in coming years.

      @echochamber8350 Dravid was just a continuation of the problem. I can never even imagine Dravid making a player sit and tell him what his issues are sternly. That is why the notion of Gambhir as the coach was lucrative. The biggest issue was the BCCI completely capitulating under Virat's insane peak from 14 to 19 which it never did even when Sachin was playing. I distinctly remember Sourav's first interview after being the BCCI president where he said Kohli is the most important thing in Indian Cricket 😆

    I dont care of this decision is a good one or bad one , it just shows that the mindset of the top most leadership is just pushing the dust under the carpet . They dont have the balls to take decisions for the ACTUAL issue and these things are just antics for the public that "Oohh BCCI Now has cracked the whip on players "!
    If you are really serious about cricket:
    1) Make a serious process on what basis should a player be picked or dropped . AND let it apply to ALL PLAYERS the same way ! Its understandable for a star player to go through bad form and dropping him is not an option BUT let him play domestic cricket and get back into runs and form NOT PLAYING International matches , becoming a burden for the team !
    2) Recognising captain and Vice Captain material also should have a basic criteria and it shouldn't be spread out and applied corner to corner like Amul Butter .
    3) Let every player be recognised with a particular role for every format . The more players we have playing every format the more difficult it will be for them to adapt . One of the main reasons why our team batting collapses like pack of cards in Test cricket is because there are no specialist test batsmen identified or the management disnt have the balls to rope them in place of non-performing players ! Whats the point of players like Sarfarz , Nair performing in Domestic cricket if you cant pull them into the main squad and give them a good , reasonable run and ask your non-performing "STARS" to go back to domestic cricket ! At least youll have tested your bench strength.
    4) People say India has amazing talent , amazing pool of players , can create A, B, C, Z team . Who is the replacement of Bumrah ? No one ! But do Australians have a replacement for Hazelwood? Fk yes - Mr Scotty Boland , probably their best bowler in tye last BGT series ! Thats bench strength for you !!
    All these stupid antics of asking family to not travel, performance pay BS is NOT GOING TO WIN YOU MATCHES !!

PR agencies and sponsors dictate terms more than ever allied with franchise cricket interests. So merely targeting the team manager won't help

    What's the use of domestic tournaments like Vijay Hazare when they are not gonna pick Karun Nair for Champions Trophy even after scoring a ton of runs? The same goes for Ranji as well. We bring players who consistently play Ranji as a substitute for an injured regular player and drop them once the regular player is back. We fastrack someone like Nitish Reddy who looks more like a batter than a bowler and never hear about other fast bowling all rounders toiling hard in Ranji for years. Once you somehow enter the Indian team it gets really hard to drop them.

    The thing is, this is not as much a concern for RoKo as everyone seems to believe, they will hardly play for an year or two now, and their time is nearly over, they don't care anymore. They toiled when they were youngsters, built their legacies and hence earned their luxuries. This leash from BCCI is really put for the coming generation who think they will enjoy the same luxury as RoKo because of their fat IPL salaries but do not perform to the same level as RoKo were in their peaks. Gill, Pant, Rahul are these players who should have stepped up as it was their 2nd / 3rd tour in Aus and even at home in NZ, and yet these guys failed there. These 3 should be on everyone's radar, and should quickly make way for newer talent if they are not performing. Everyone faces a slack in their latter part of the cricketing career and RoKo will be no different. What matters is how much impact you create in your prime. Currently in intl cricket the only few players who are in their prime and cash in on their form are Travis Head, Jasprit Bumrah, Harry brook, Heinrich Klasen
