If you watch videos of many players from the last decade, you can see how their English has improved. Watch interviews with Ding or Nepo from 2018 and it’s clear they’re much more fluent now. Even Magnus, who was always fluent in English, speaks it much more comfortably now than he did as a teenager. I also recall a recent interview with Yu Yangyi where he spoke English while a 2019 interview with him required a translator

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ They DID NOT DO THE BROADCAST DELAY ////// ///////////
As a result, if one would just follow closely who and maybe also how often predicts the correct winning continuations or best defensive moves in "CRITICAL" times.
I mean if they don't acknowledge this has ALREADY started- prompting telepathically and amplifying this "connection" with large numbers of audiences and broadcasters with attention to real time moves- just note this date and remember this was pointed out and we all knew. Not sure about first few days, as the connection gets weak when you move in to a new venue, etc, and maybe this was not as apparent. But once things have settled, this is back. I really wished I am wrong but I guess everybody knows but look the other way.

But as Garry just said this is not even a WC with Magnus not playing, so yeah maybe it does not matter at all.
But still, why not just put a 1 hour delay and see the effect????

Still the only reason for Ding being a Champion is stupid system ... every Champion should have guaranteed place in the Candidates, where two top players would face each other in World Championship Match ... Current system is like having Football Champions League, one team wins the final ... but then there is no trophee but Superfinal against the former winner ... who did not play one single game in Champions League during whole season ... @@smartset2968 It's not ridiculous and has been widely accepted and done the same for Magnus. SGMs have said that the Candidates is messy and best skills don't mean you can win and even said Magnus may not make it if he had to try Candidates again. So therefore, this system has been in place for years when Magnus was champion and nobody complained and everyone accepted it. Magnus was still considered the legit champion despite not having to compete in Candidates again every year. All these years it has been accepted and nobody ever complains why Magnus doesn't have to fight in Candidates again (even tho they believe Magnus may not win the Candidates). Basically, the Candidates is not the true measure of skill (this has also been said by SGMs). Therefore, nobody ever demanded that the champion had to play the Candidates every time. I think you personally have a problem possibly due to being a new Gukesh chess fan (or something of that sort).

to translate his answer for the Chinese Q:
Q: congratulations, why did you pause at move 7?
A: I was contemplating between following our opening preparation or the improvisation. I picked the latter.
Q: did you want to go stable because of your experience and game advantage over Gukesh?
A: the French is very risky because White can narrowly gain advantages, so I did prepare beforehand but his opening still surprised me, so it may not be as successful.
Q: how will this game change the match?
A: no idea, I’ve never led in a world championship match. I’ll think about it when I get back, but this is confidential so I can’t say too much…

Only because of his weak performance this championship got hyped. And now it became interesting. Just don't play any blame game. Both players are great and both have their own psychological tactics. Like the time. When he was wandering in front of board. Diverting Dings focus. So its very common in chess to have such tactics.

Q: have you choose this opening to play solid, or play for a win

As a sport we are blessed right now. I have always dreamed of visiting India. To be there on a street corner with my board out next to my chai drink when Gukesh takes the title. !! This would be a wish come true. I do not fear - I know- the street would break out into a well choreographed Baliwood dance, children would sing and horns would blow. My chai would shimmer in the sunlight as we all danced down the street in rhythmic formations of 64. I hope you are in India for the party. Please dance for me.

    • @chingeang5116
      @chingeang5116 Месяц назад +25

The woman basically asked Ding three questions: (1) Why did you take so long to play move #7? To which Ding basically said he had to ponder for a long time because he wasn't expecting what Gukesh played. (2) Why the choice of the French Defense? Ding acknowledged that it was a risky choice, because white had many possible lines of response. But he decided to play it anyway, probably to surprise his opponent. (3) Now that you have won the first game, does that change your overall approach to the match going forward? Ding, with his usual circumspection and reticence, said that since he has never led in a WC match before, this is a new experience for him, and he will have to take some time over the next day to consider this whole thing. He also said that he can't divulge much else, because it's a secret 🙂

Ding was out of prep after C3?!? That’s a bit surprising. To play that well 40 minutes down, definitely shows “something”. G got exactly what anyone can hope for out of the opening (huge time lead and OP out of prep) and was basically outplayed in the mid game, needs to recoup and not lose confidence. Magnus was spot on in his prediction, Ding will have the first big chance as it’s unrealistic to expect G to play anywhere near his peak G1, due to nerves.
