After hearing the the two part episode on “HOT ROD”, I can’t wait for the eventual episode on “POPSTAR: NEVER STOP NEVER STOPPING”.
Oh hell yeah!
I literally reference Popstar and Hot Rod everyday since I've seen them!
Popstar is way better than Hot Rod.
@@nms7872 Definitely prefer it just a little more and have easily watched it more.
OMG I DIDNT EVEN THINK ABT THAT YESSSS
This Seth Meyers guy is pretty good. He’s going to be the next Douglas Bubbletrousers.
"BABE WAIT, BABE WAIT, BAAAAABE, BABE WAIT!"
Will Arnett KILLED! There's no one I can see playing that douche boyfriend better than him.
“Hey little girl! I don’t like cherry. It upsets my stomach!” - Rico
I was in High school when Hot Rod came out and my friend group loved it. We would go around quoting all the time. I still say Cool beans every now and then haha
"cool cool,"
You will probably never read this but I saw this movie for the first time in the pandemic with my younger brother (he was 15 at the time) not knowing what we were getting into, and we loved how stupid it was. We don't get to watch movies together nowadays and watching Hot Rod is a very good memory for me.
They probably won’t read it. But I did 😊

I wasn't going to listen to a two-part episode about a movie when i came here for SNL, but now I want to go watch Hot Rod.
As a younger Millennial (born in 1994), Hot Rod was THE movie for my friend group. We all still quote this movie to this day.
You must.
If you're a fan of the lonely island, how have you not watched Hot Rod?!
Please report back at your leisure
It's on Pluto TV for free
23:29
43:40
I adore you
love the fact that the time stamps doesn't even need any labeling now, we all just know what they are for
You’re back! What a legend. Have a good week well see ya next week!
doing gods work
After Part 1, we immediately rented Hot Rod and revisited it for probably the twentieth time. And it might be getting even better with age. Like a fine wine. It’s a pitch perfect comedy and insanely quotable.
How did y'all completely skip Bill Hader being given Acid by Akiva at the ice skating rink and then proceeds to float away with a hat on 😂😂😂
thats in the last one I think
No mention of the other Akiva cameo either - he can be seen in the background of Kevin's bedroom
“I’ll take the a c i d “
@@demitasse22no akiva says "I have some acid, you want it" whilst extending an empty palm and bill replies "yeah, I'll do it" then cut to bill putting a finger in his mouth while akiva affixed a top hat and slides out of frame. Then cut to bill on his banana board truly tripping balls
Ian McShane has said that if he meets a fan on the street, they will bring up Hot Rod more than anything else he's done.
If I saw Ian McShane on the street, I'd definitely call him frank and try to fight him.
@@jkap34never sneak up on a man who’s been in a chemical fire!!!!
Another incredible installment of 4 Shock Jocks
Glad to see the group still makes content together
I liked the movie as soon as I got the DVD in 2008. Bought it at a Blockbuster. It’s my favorite movie, and became a DVD we’d pass around my class in school.
Also bought it from a Blockbuster! Jackpot
So thanks to this podcast, my husband and I watched Hot Rod last night. Not disappointed.
Hot Rod is one of my favorite comedies. I made a friend through spontaneously quoting "coo-coo cool beans, beans, cool beans." I still talk about WIll Arnett doing "babe... babe no!" The Footloose montage, Bill's trippin' balls story... so many great moments. Thanks for talking about it!
Been waiting years for this
Just the other day, I opened my upstairs window and yelled down to a housemate. "A cooked goose for everyone!"
I love Hot Rod. I wish I had seen it in the theaters
I was very surprised to hear that this movie was not instantly popular. I first discovered this movie in 2007 in Blockbuster during my middle school years, and I instantly loved it. I have watched it multiple times since then!
You four are the best!
Hot Rod was one of the soundtracks to our 20's. Love it.
This is one of my favorite comedy movies of all time!!!
Love the podcast!!
Hot Rod is one of the funniest movies… Kiv should be very proud
Hot Rod Part 2: Hot Rod Harder
My dad found that title on my computer and sent me to Jesus camp for conversion therapy.
"It's Roding time!"
:Hotter Rod
Best comedy movie of all time!
Love Hot rod
No mention of Queens of the Stone Age playing live in the big jump scene :( i really wanted to know how is that came up
I had forgotten about that part until we re-watched it recently. Were they Queens fans? It’s so awesome to see Josh in that dumb wig.
@@ActualChef yeah man it was awesome and I totally wanted to hear about that. I hope they are also fans.
They talk about it on the DVD commentary. It is a fun story, and I was also hoping they would mention it in this.
I honestly think there's some kind of contractual thing behind why they don't mention them because even in the dvd commentary they didn't outright say who they were iirc.
@@bobbycortes2422true; I believe they appeared as the band “Gown.” Which is an awesomely bad/incredible band name.
I'm a kid from Kansas and Hot Rod is probably my favorite comedy of all time. Tied with Zoolander lol.
"Is there a plate shortage?" From Andy randomly cracked me up
35:50 i wish they mentioned this but when rod “lands” he slides in front of an ambulance. right in front of it and while his crew runs to him, no actual medical staff bothers and we never see them either. absolutely hilarious if you recognize that it indeed is an ambulance lmao
Its not just a cooked goose. Its a BOILED GOOOOOSE!
They didn't even mention one of my favorite parts, when Kevin is singing to his stuffed animals. That Quaid found his audience right there.
This was a classic movie for my family and a bunch of my friends.
I saw the movie on opening night. Thought it was the movie of the year. It really killed when it came out on DVD. Put it on when people are stoned in the dorm room, and it caught them by surprise.
I think a Hot Rod Sequal would be great. Make it about a tiny kid in the neighborhood who was picked on an outcasted. he then learns of a legendary stuntman and how a stunt changed his life, which inspires this kid. He then tries to establish a crew... have it end with Hot rod being a manager of a subway...
I do the arena music for my kids hockey and ringette games and John Farnhams The voice is the song I play while the zamboni is cleaning the ice before the game and the fans are all getting in the stands. When a parent recognizes it from Hot Rod, I know instantly that we will be friends, lol.
I love you guys! I have been here since Jizz in my Pants. Please talk about all your stuff like Popstar and especially the cameo in the The Watch lol. I would love to hear about the American Dad Antichrist from Andy too, he is so funny. Any time I hear one of you guys are involved in a movie I am already 100% on board. Keep it up!
Akiva going full Welcome to the Dollhouse makes me realize how great he is.I think he might be literally me.
Akiva is amazing
Y’know where this movie ranked for me back in the day? It was the only movie I had downloaded on my iPod nano in high school. Not only did it take up like half the space of the device, it meant I watched it alllllll the time.
It's so incredibly sad that hot rod didn't do that well in theaters. You guys are all incredible and that is still a movie I watch at least 10 times a year. We watch it as a family and still laugh or asses off every single time. There's not one bit I don't like. You made that movie for me. Thank you
My buddies and I were too young to see it in theatres, but it was a huge movie for us when we were in middle school. We still reference it all the time. The “code word is hwhiskey” joke, or saying “hwhere do you get off?” Is my favourite to drop in conversation
I have watched Hot Rod over 100 times, with many different people. Its my favorite movie ever! Its so funny and so much fun to watch.
Nooice!!!
Im so glad I waited til after listening to both episodes before rewatching Hot Rod
So fun listening to you guys talk about this. I've actually watched the movie twice again in the last week. Although, I don't really need to ever watch it again because I've seen it so many times since seeing it opening weekend that I have it memorized. One of the best. Thank you
Ever since stork patrol hit RUclips I knew Lonely Island was my shit.
My buddy and I watched Hot Rod in highschool when it came out and it has been our favorite movie ever since. We still quote it all the time and make our girlfriends sit through it while we cackle to ourselves.
It's number one
Wish anytime I had bad news I could go on an amazing vacation
I still don’t know why, but my mom bought my brother and I the hot rod DVD to watch on our car dvd player and it didn’t matter if we drove 5 min to school or a multi hour drive, hot rod was playing and being recited to no end which turned into me showing every single person in my life since r the movie so I never have to stop quoting it
I'm loving this podcast, like I know for sure the guys are wise enough not to read YT comment sections - but just to offset the "this isn't funny" pricks; this is in fact funny.
I love that idea was to make a movie that seemed low budget yet these episodes have show just how much thought and effort (and luck) goes into making a movie come off low budget. You’d think it’s be easy to pull off but keeping things on track and staying true to what you want to do-while keeping things funny-seems like a helluva effort
I love this movie and lonley Island!
Maybe I missed it but I kept waiting for them to mention when Rod goes in Kevin’s room and he’s singing One More Try by George Michael to the stuffed animals. That’s one of my fave parts it’s so silly
My kids are growing up with Lonely Island, Sandler, Farrel, Stiller & Carey in their lives!
I remember when I first saw hot rod. I ordered it on HBO and then forced all my friends to come over that night to watch it again. So funny
Need another movie from these guys. It’s unfortunate that audiences haven’t shown up in the past. I bet if they did something a little more grounded like Hot Rod as opposed to over the top like popstar, it could have a huge chance of success
Pools are great for holding water in
24:48 that entourage reference made me choke up my coffee 😂😂 last show I expected to be used as an analogy in the making of this movie
"If the ______ police are here, I demand a lawyer" is a part of my daily lexicon
Sully you chod !! I legit named my cat Sully cause of that line … These 2 Epps are the most amazing thing I’ve watched .. Hotrod is legit the best thing ever made .. Other than the Lion king.
I was Rod for Halloween once. Except unlike Rod, I had a real mustache.
I was born during the filming of Hot Rod. I'm turning 18 today.
Roadhouse!!!
The problem it I don't have a time machine to go back to last week and listen to part 1
Are we going to get a podcast on Daiquiri Girl, please?
I am 100% with you on this.
I'm happy to say that I saw Welcome to the Dollhouse way back when.
Oh, boiled goose in boombox makes sense now.
Video podcast pleaseeeeeeee
9:20 If you listen to it on headphones, you can tell that the word "residue" is ADR'd :P
To this day it is one of the best movies that I have ever seen! Me and all my friends and family here in Sweden loved this movie from the start sooooo much and we made everyone see it that we got to know and they also loved it! It was an instant cult movie here in Sweden but it was straight to dvd and didn’t even go to the cinema I don’t know if you are aware of HOW loved this film is within 30-40(I was like 24 at the time it came out) year olds here in Sweden at least! I loved hearing you talk about it in this episode and last and it really broke my heart that you felt it slammed like it did but in our universe in Sweden it was such an instant hit it was basicly maaad funny and still holds up like pure comedy gold!!!
Cool cool... beans beans... Cool beans
I was never good at dating. Case in point: I was at a loss as to what to do with a lovely young lady and figured - Hey, that guy's on SNL, maybe the movie is funny and we should see it without any idea as to what it is. She didn't laugh at all. I was sold on the pelvic-thrusting Richardson. We did not go on another date.
I actually saw hot rod and roadhouse for the first time on the same day!
Some wild cut jokes exist… nice pod!
I would really like to see a documentary about the making of this movie, except the documentary is just kind of a bit, but also a love letter.
GODDDSSS OF WARRRRR
Wait, who were the people playing the band at the jump? Was it actually queens of the stone age?
Did you guys enjoy the new road house?
Sweet
Dissapointed no mention of the two Akiva cameos
Somebody remake the trailer. Hwhat would be great with "So whatcha want"
"THIS GUY'S A NOBODY!!"
released at 6am on a monday
They are trying to make my work day less painful! :)
Gotta reverse Garfield's opinion of Monday.
It's my birthday today and I woke up pretty cranky. Now I'm not! Thanks guys 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Jorma played his step brother. Porn told me that's okay.
Hoobestank sandwich
it would be funny to reshoot stuff and never make reference that everyone has aged
37:56 Interstella 5555
i was too legit to quit. But now I'm not legit. I'm un-legit. And for that reason I must quit.
I entirely stopped watching comedies after seeing Hot Rod because it was the fucking funniest shit I've ever seen. Would be cool to bring the character back somehow.
Can’t wait for some comedy! Next episode I promise guys
First!
That was old in 1995
Still waiting for Seth Meyers to accidentally be funny. Maybe that's the joke
insane amount of ads bro
Captain Insaneo shows no mercy!
Bros got 7 million subs from inactive accounts
I’d assume many of them are from a decade ago. Probably a bunch of dead people in there at this point honestly
Bro has no idea who lonely island are let alone their popularity from 10 years ago
I know. That's what I'm saying. I was in highschool during the best days of this channel.
when will you be making funny songs again?
love ya Seth but why on earth are you going on & on recapping every scene in the film? the only people who are gonna watch this all the way through are just us weirdos who have seen Hot Rod multiple times and more or less have it memorized
I've only seen the movie once and I listened all the way through 🤷♀️
wtf, lol, you are literally hating on what this podcast is here for, that is wild
Just stop, guys. Not funny
Stop what? 🤔
@@voice_of_a_little_lady doing this entire junk podcast
@@btt327x Why? They seem to enjoy it, they're getting paid to do it, and there's an audience for it. If it's not for you, you could ignore it.
@@lforlight I already unsubscribed, but I chose to comment about how bad it is rather than ignoring it. I’ll keep telling them, too, unless they put out something funny again
To each their own. Lucky for them and myself, they have fans that are enjoying the pod 😁
My artistic vision is sponsored by liquid death. What an insane world we live in. I’m sure you were desperate for the money how else could you pay your mortgage?
Hot Rod is hilarious.
The cast was perfect. I wish Bill, and Danny were guests on these last 2 episodes.
Will was good too, as usual.
