#warhammer40k #miniatures #gamesworkshop
My gaming club puts the money together for these box sets as they comes out, then together we build and paint them. At some point I really should consider getting some people other than just me in the club, but that's just how it works some time.
I have a similar club. Lots of boxes painted and built, but no one to play with.
haha good one ^^
Had me in the first half not gonna lie
"I'm going to paint this magician!"
*Holds up the blob*
I felt fortunate when my GF expressed interest in hobbying. We bought the indomitus box set and worked through it together. Was a pleasant experience.
Good for you, that sounds awesome, I would give so much to be painting away with my crush
YES the painting and modelling should be a group activity - i moved away and i miss my painting evenings with my friends where we helped eachother, painted eachothers models when someone was burned out after painting too many of his own, or someone was better at eyes ect. Work gets done faster and more pleasantly
I wish my friends actually enjoyed painting. Its lonely business. I did paint both sides of of dominion in 10 days though! ;)
I've got 2 friends into painting as post work relax ;) They don't care about wargames but enjoy painting together :D
that's really fast!
I wish I even had friends :/
@@ratdoesgaming feel free to hit me up dude, we can chat hobby, I'm part of a very friendly small Facebook hobby group and we regularly hang out and run fun events and competitions and stuff
@Daniel Rogan I'm just good at army painting haha. Had to get it ready for a local channel for release day so had a deadline. Painting every day for atleast 7-10 hours..
This was a great EXTRAVAGANZA!!! entertaining all the way through, and both of those armies turned out beautiful!!!
Thanks Brent! your Cruel Boys looked excellent as well.
Hahahaha "get out of my house. Take your base with you" hahahaha
This is one thing with me. I like to spend evenings painting with my wife She inspires me to keep going as do I her and its calming for us if we had a stressful day with our 2 year old son who is not old enough to paint minis yet.
That's awsome !
I almost believed that GW did something nice for once
Oh my sweet summer child. Your innocence is intoxicating
Then the next day 😂
Wish I have friends that like painting or just playing 40k.
Same man, I'm just getting into it but don't know anyone in person who also likes it
I’ve been trying to get friends into it for a couple years, but they all complain that it takes too much time and is too expensive
Lowkey I'm that one homie who plays different tunes when I'm solo, all my friends are too cool to play.
wish i had friends
@@duathhadron5040 It is a game that takes up a lot of time at the start with painting and stuff. Biggest factor though I reckon is money. It is way to expensive for most people to invest into unfortunately.
Positivity and encouragement. Hard things to find in these dark days. Thanks for being cool guys. Very uplifting to watch.
I'm so happy to know that I'm am not the only one who starts projects but does not finish because... "Oooh, Squirrel!" Or, "Ooooh Shiney!!" I have recently gotten into collecting and painting minis, and I love the Warhammer figures, but it really is difficult to not buy more before I get done with what I have. Aaaand... cue the Dominion Box! Now I have in excess of 200 minis to build and paint. LOL
Jay! You’re the only RUclipsr I watch that sports a nifty apron! Now you need a hammer, some tongs, a forge and an anvil!
EOB apron merch needed!
Vince Venturella is the apron master, though.
@@someonesusingmyname true true
I have friends that play wargames with me but none of them really like painting. My 5 year old is the only one who I can get to paint with me and he's too fast of a painter for me to keep up xD
Also, awesome video as always and great work on the dominion box. I'm about to get into my Kruleboyz so this is great inspiration.
My 7-year-old often sees me painting and begs to paint something, so I've let her slap paint on some of the free models of the month, and let her have the Nighthaunt half of Tempest of Souls since she loves Halloween.
Over lockdown a group of us started having a weekly paint club over zoom. Recently we started to play a warcry campaign together with everything we painting over the last year. It's such a great motivator to get paint on those minis.
You need more videos, LOL!! I watched them all! We need content! Gosh!
Glad you guys are getting into aos it is what I started with
Both armies look great, but the Flagbearer and Leader for the stormcast look fantastic! Awsome colors and technique!
Heck yeah this is why some stores host group building/painting events, helpful with motivation and pacing and lets you ask for ideas and opinions as you go. Not surprised your Day 4 was less fun, when the rush of building & base coating gives way to more detailed work. That was a good idea taping the old paint to a big saw as a supercharged shaker.
It was fun to see the result of the challenge but, the feeling of accomplishment is massively better! Well done Nick and Jay!
Amazing labor of love my dudes! Much respect to both of you~
Easily my favorite video by you guys
BOTH hands on the wheel jay you MADMAN!!!
This video makes me happy, it's such a great thing to buy a box together and have it painted and ready to play. And you both succeeded so congrats to both of you !
I personally don't care about warhammer be it 40k or age of sigmar, I'm more of a SW Legion player, but seeing two friends manage to do this and sharing the painting is just amazing ! great video guys ! :D
Congratz. Both armies are beeeeeeautiful.
Man it sucks being the only person in my friend group who paints this avidly
I'm in the same boat. But I have a friend on the east coast I started painting with over zoom or livestream. I also found watching painting channels on twitch while I paint is entertaining too.
Same
To be honest I think the look of the stormcastes after airbrushes looks really good already. They look like an army of bronze statues! I am seriously considering of making my army to look like that
I'm the DM at our table and used to paint a lot by myself. Then I roped my players into painting their characters & then later terrain. (It helps bribing them w/ snacks & ingame bonuses f.x. inspiration dice.) When they can't make it for crafting, I fire up you guys or MWM, etc and its almost the same. Cheers from the D&D side of the table.
My imperial guard army is huge but I only have the tanks painted and that's because I painted with a friend. He wanted an army of tanks, my army included tanks and we ended up in sort of a arms race trying to outdo each other. I got 2 Chimeras, 2 leman russ and a baneblade painted up pretty quick plus a couple of sentinels. But I have other hobbies and a lower paid job. He didn't have a baneblade but crushed me with hellhounds and leman russ. Eventually, like the soviet Union, I conceded as I had no money left. I also couldn't keep up with too little time. I really need to get my infantry done but it's a huge task and I need extra motivation, like a second arms race lol
Hey EOB, I wanted to say i love your videos and have spent a lot of time watching them and going through your archives, i find your content wholesome and enjoyable to watch, you have also inspired me to give air brushing a go and i cant wait to try it out. thanks :)
Wow, Jay, you absolutely nailed those paint jobs. The faces were spectacular!
My wife is interested in hobby so I'm lucky.
I can imagine painting with her, but that's an exception.
A completely solitary experience for me.
I also am super backwards so if I have a box of Hellblasters I will paint. On. At. A. Time.
Start to finish.
This batch painting video tho was very informative.
After calling yourselves shills, that "It would probably be more accurate to say..." joke with the receipt is the loudest laugh I've had on RUclips all year. Great video, guys.
Hello! Can't wait to watch this video. Just saying hello beforehand :-)
Edit: That was really good! Loved the video, easy to watch and understand. I thought the part when you finished and went to get more was funny and I liked the part at the end where you showed off all the models that the community sent in! You have really outdone yourselves! 👍👏😁
This got me so motivated to get my dominion box complete! Awesome work
I love the magicians cloak style, definitely what I’ll be using it a lot for my Custodes.
Wonderful!
wassup dudes. loved this one! You talked through what you found difficult and how you overcame any issues which helps me alot. my biggest problem is finishing a model and calling it finished. I'm never happy with the result and strip the paint. This episode gives me some confidence to get on with finishing one completely.
I usually decide a head of time how far I am willing to take a model. For example my troops get a base coat and wash, rarely any highlights. If I don’t do this I will spend months on a single unit and never get anything done. My character/hero units get the full treatment.
What a great episode! My favorite, yet!
Still might be your best video.10th time watching it! Thanks guys.
The army’s are the same as my dad and his friend. You guys are the only Warhammer RUclipsr I watch❤
I discovered that your wings look amazing. I'm doing celestial vindicators for my stormcast half, I have too many golden stormcast already.
I've spent two days looking at bird wings and still not any closer. Might have to settle on the good old British pigeons wings 😀
All the models looked fantastic
Now we want a bottle report of your first game 😙😙
23:56 this picture looks seriously good, great face and great photography
The Hobgoblins look sparkling.
Great video, really enjoyed the idea of you both sharing the boxset and building and painting the armies in one week.
Just when I was hoping to see some Dominion painted minis, EoB delivers!!! Thanks and fantastic job guys!
What a fun vid. Thanks for sharing lads
Great results guys - massive kudos to Nick for those Kruleboyz, that's a lot of models, with a lot of little details, to get done so well in such a short period of time!
Bold of you to assume i have friends
Now if GW can provide painting buddies.
I'm painting my Stormcast from Dominion in Stonecast form. I am currently working on 4000pts plus of Stonecast. It's fun. Loved the video! Can't wait for the Battle Report 😉
This was such a fun video to watch start to finish. More videos like this of the two of you doing things like a challenge.
I do Zoom paint sessions, only safe choice in Japan as the virus sooooars here. Painting even together on Zoom really works well.
So, I was able to see that Yndrasta mini with my own eyes, and it looks even better in person. Well done!
glad to see im not the only one that buckles in my new boxes
TAKE YOUR BASE WITH YOU!
I loved this! Should do this with start collecting boxes!
that was great guys!
Great joyful video guys! Keep it up & welcome to the Mortal Realms of Age of Sigmar ;)
I was rofl after you picked up the box and explained the situation
Man, all these look absolutely gorgeous! I just got into 40k like 3 months ago and I've only managed to paint like 10 models so far, averaging 4 hours a day..lol
I'm working on my Stormcast right now.
I feel like Nick got the tougher deal, the orruks have so many more textures and details!
Remember the other day during the live stream when Jay said that he had only seen Dominion models on line and had absolutely never held them in his hands? Its a little scary how easily he lied about this and made it so believable. I feel so betrayed.
he *was* in a theatre club
That live stream was recorded a couple months before their finally released it to RUclips. 😜
Those are beautifully done
Nicely done, gents : D
Really enjoyed this video
This was a great concept would love to see more of these videos in the future I love watching the process.
I literally tried using super glue and some black calcium sand on a small 20mm base yesterday. Came out clean for a first base.
Hope you guys do this for skaventide! Love the 2 of you doing these challenges together!
I Love this longer form video! also both Jay AND Nick!
The thing that always gets me with Jay is the fact he is up at 08:30, looking super stocked to get started.
With me, i drag my ass outta bed at 10:30, have 4 cups of coffee and some food, watch a youtube video and then maybe get started by like 13:00....
Welcome to the light side!
The anhilators are so fun to paint, as simple as you want and as complex as u please
Awesome that you're doing this together, it must be very motivating! BTW I find your fake Skype calls hilarious 😆
Hey Jay, for painting the white runes in the banners etc, I usually thin down a bit of white layer paint with a lot of medium, then use a very small brush to soak some of it up. If you thin it down enough, it will run off the brush into the rune pretty much by itself and pool there, leave it to dry and it will be done. Will also only spill a very little bit and thus be easy to clean up.
nice hotline miami pfp
@@shmello_ Thank you :)
Hell yeah! Nice one guys!!
Awesome
This is a great video. I hope you do more of these challenge videos. Very fun to watch
This was amazing, great job both :)
Building and painting this in only 7 days holy :D I have to paint more and Jay I wish I had your motivation on painting.
Nippers is such a fun, so closely to being dirty word and, I love it!
That was inspiring!
Batch painting sucks the fun out of painting for me. Once I painted the whole box of Zombicide Black Plague (70 minis) in about 7 days and then stopped painting for nearly 2 months.
these all look awesome! Congrats guys
I loved this episode. Thanks guys!
Another great video. I'm doing a similar thing with thr Indomitus Box Set. My friend and I call it the Indomitus Coast 2 Coast Challenge. We have a timeline to complete each unit type and have people judge who completed them better. The Spacemarines to the best of our ability and the necrons for speed. #IC2C I would never finish if we didn't hold each other accountable .
White ink! Of course! I was wondering how I'd be able to get a white wash to work and now I have something to work with.
FTL stealth cruiser good choice
Shame I haven't found any official models of their ships
*loving smile between friends*
"okay *now get out of my house* "
Nick paints my speed x2... Jay paints my speed x10 ❤
I finally came back to finish this video
Bruh what's with this Oblivion dialogue?
Try some warhammer underworlds stuff! It's like a nice sample sized bit of an army, and the newer ones are great sculpts
This guys videos are fantastic
I love the format of this video.
those faces are looking pretty good! Yndrastas wings look really cool too
Wow, you didn't even stop at Taco Bell! This is one of my favorite EOB videos. I got to figure out how to do something similar!
I love my gray army. I hate push fit tho always end up cutting off some of the pegs.
Looks like this was fun.
