      Thanks so much. I really loved Japan, it was my first time there and definitely won't be my last. I did intend to make another video in Tokyo, but I didn't have time unfortunately. I'll be back next year though, hopefully with a little more time.

    I think I have an explanation to why the picture 5:49 works. I think it's because of the lines in the snow is entering or leaving the bottom right corner from where you stood. So it brings the feeling that we are standing there in the field. It gives a 3D feeling.

    Great trip, great photos and great comments! Thank you Andy. Once you use the 100 Mpx camera, is it easy to go back with a 40 Mpx one? Is there any feeling that you loose something?

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  14 часов назад +1

      Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed the video. Honestly I don't mind switching between the GFX and X-T5 at all. Obviously the GFX has wonderful resolution and detail, but in this particular location when so much of the image is blank negative space, I don't think it really mattered at all. I'm not really hung up on resolution, and will go with whatever system works best for the given location. I'll be shooting a lot of wildlife later this year, and for that the GFX is too slow, and the system lacks the long lenses. In fact, to be honest, I missed the X-T5 a lot on this trip as I really wanted a 100-400mm at times as quite a few of these images needed to be cropped as they were so far away.
      I'm actually planning to make a video on this at some point this year. On what medium format really gives you, what you gain, what you lose, and how much difference it really makes.

    A very enjoyable watch, seeing scenes which I’ve had the privilege of visiting over the last 2 weeks. Sadly I don’t think the Xmas tree will be there long, given the coach and carloads of mayhem from its popularity, which can’t be tolerable for the farmer. You’ll have seen the recent demise of one set of trees which had been felled nearby a scene you featured.

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  14 часов назад

      Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed it. It really is a wonderful place. Indeed, we heard about the line of trees being cut, and I suspect you're right about the "christmas tree". The shot I did was first thing in the morning and we were the only people there, but our Japanese guide had warned us that it got busy (we avoided the cranes in Lake Kussharo for the same reason). At the end of our last day in Biei we went back to photograph another tree near the Christmas tree (I have multiple images of it in this video) and saw the mad rush down the road at the Christmas tree. It reminded me a lot of locations in Tuscany, which are crazy now. For the most part though, we rarely saw other photographers at any of the locations, we went to the more well known places first thing and were consistently alone, and the other places usually just had one or two other local tourists around them.

    Unfortunately, there are very few neon signs left in Tokyo and Hong-Kong (both were famous for having a lot of them at the time). It's mostly LED screens now.

    Hi Andy, congratulations, very beautiful and inspiring, with a bit of luck regarding the snow at the precise moment 😉 Just a curiosity, if I may: how did you film the two people walking, appearing twice on the video (one with a red jacket)? It looked like very smooth footage without bumps. Thank you so much

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  День назад

      Thanks for watching. Hokkaido gets a ridiculous amount of snow at this time of year, so getting snow like this there is pretty much the norm. As for the video in the forest, it was shot with an Insta 360. Most of the b-roll in this video was shot with it as I didn't take a drone with me.
