All government agencies are on the climate warming bandwagon. Soon the climate will turn colder, thanks to the oscillation of the planet, and the politicians will claim victory and insist tons of money are needed to prevent climate cooling. Satellite data shows the actual warming of the planet is very tiny, not enough to protect your early plantings of tomatoes.
I am in the coastal plain in Annapolis MD (literally- if I walk to the end of my street I hit water) and we are now 8a. When I moved here several decades ago I think we were 7a. Shift (as in climate shift) happens. We may be growing avocados here in the near future!
Im glad i have found your channel. Was always on the 7a/7b. But now I am EXACTLY on the line of 7b/8a. I recently purchased a really nice Fuerte avacado. It was really nice and healthy only had droopy leaves. 3-4' tall. Grafted and stem painted white. Only tree I ever ordered online that had worms in the soil! After about 2 weeks they all fell off. It has been very rainy lately, but its in well draining sandy soil. Do avacados drop leaves sometimes?
Avocados can drop a few leaves all year long, but they should drop most of them in the spring to make room for new growth. This is even more noticeable when a tree is flowering, because moving nutrition into the flowers is a higher priority for the tree than sustaining old leaves.
Your growing projects should be much easier in 8a! (heh) You just have a channel name error foisted on you by the USDA. All hail the Avo8aProject! I'm in the PNW and was not re-zoned, still 8b. Last year the coldest temp I clocked in the back yard on my own equipment was 11F. Will be a challenge for my cold hardy mexican avocados I recently acquired. Simple USDA growing zones don't capture the full range of growing conditions -- they kind of suck.

The YT algorithm seemed to dislike your opinion. I noticed that your comment was not visible to anyone else, unless I pinned it.
Maybe that's why the Justice Department hasn't gotten to my door yet! @Avo7bProject

I like your channel name change. Nice video, thanks for sharing!
We had snow on Halloween this year for the first time I can remember in my 50+ years, so it makes perfect sense to put us in a warmer zone. 🙄
