NGL as someone who's followed you guys since GI and been here since day 1 it's kinda disappointing that they didn't bring Suriel on to talk about Tekken 8 one of the best games of this year and the best fighting game since MKX IMO. Hopefully that changes soon 😉☺️
I can already see the tears rolling down my cheek as Tekken 8 is left off the two tens. SF6 and Tekken 8 legit might be the greatest launch fighting games of all time.
@@willlowry2288 Glad there's other viewers that feel the same way 😂 here's a hot take for ya I liked MK1 more than SF6 Idk why but Street Fighter just wasn't doing it for me. Totally agree though they both launched so feature rich and pretty damn polished for the most part it's great to have amazing fighting games again!!!
1:54:45 Ben, I have 248 hours in Assassin's Creed 3 and know for a fact it's because during that time, Steam counted Uplay running as "playing" the game even if you closed the game but left Uplay running.
Was stoked to hear Elise Favis was making a cameo. Bummed to hear the context. Also, is Javy at all interested in doing an episode? I have never stopped thinking about him post GI. He’s one of my favorite contributors. Always resonated with his point of view
Javy was my favorite critical voice from GI/Minnmax. His contributions and Twitter posts gave me a lot to think about and turned me onto some cool games. Whatever he's up to i hope he's doing well.
Persona and SMT are still connected because they just inextricably are. The first Persona game is really a Super Famicom game titled "Shin Megami Tensei If..." which is an alternate reality version of the first SMT game. Persona games still share the same enemy/persona designs as the demons in SMT, and the same skill names too. They also make references to SMT games with Maya in P3 looking like the main SMT 1 female character (with the name being a P2 reference), and Persona 5 Royal having a song that's from SMT 1.
Xbox saying "it's not about platforms anymore, it's about games" is fine if they were actually putting out games, but they're not. "Games shouldn't be exclusive" rings pretty hollow when you're the only one of you peers that doesn't have any output that moves the needle.
Here's my summary of what I'm seeing online with the Xbox stuff: The reasonable Xbox fans are satisfied and reassured. Some people are disappointed they didn't use definitive language like "never" but I would say the implication is that they are planning for the future if the walled garden ecosystems come crashing down. They don't want these quotes thrown back in their face. They're starting with 4 games rumored to be Hifi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded and Sea of Thieves according to Tom Warren. In an interview with the Verge, they said Xbox would STOP the new port strategy if this hurts Xbox or if the ports don't perform well. So no, I don't take this as a certainty that every game will eventually come to Playstation. A lot of disappointment from the Playstation players who tuned in expecting it to be "All Xbox games coming over" during what is going to be a slower year than normal for PS. They will be fine. Xbox is also one of the biggest publishers on Playstation so there's that fact that people really need to chew on. I wouldn't go listen to some Playstation business podcast and then be disappointed that they weren't offering me anything. Expectations people. Most of this was dispelling BS that had been circulating for weeks/months from people trying to will the death of Xbox into existence (And some legitimate leaks that may have had plans changed in the final hours) But it really is exhausting attempting to reason with people that Xbox really is here to stay. Some people are disappointed by that and a lot of people will just never join the Xbox ecosystem and that is fine. But stop trying to kill it by spreading FUD. Edit: BTW good on Janet during the Xbox conversation. Thumbs up!
I've never bought the "good guy Phil" schtick. Sure, the "exclusives don't matter and console allegiance doesn't either" thing is a nice idea and I also think the console wars are incredibly stupid, but at the end of the day we still need a box that plays our games (that isn't a PC). I don't see Sony or Nintendo saying "exclusives don't matter", it's the company who's spent two gens on the backfoot that's saying that and at this point, it sounds more like a PR spin than anything else.
It doesn't help that he and the rest of the Xbox team lie constantly and make hyperbolic statements like "the next generation of hardware will be the biggest technological leap ever" or whatever nonsense Sarah Bond said today during that podcast.
Take a shot everytime says "We want gamers to play everywhere." - Play what? it doesn't matter if players can play anywhere if there is nothing to play lol
I think Phil specifically is good at messaging during the points in time he needs to give interviews/speak on screen. You can see how he spoke during that podcast interview vs how Sarah and Matt spoke (they said absolutely nothing of substance besides telling the audience that "no actually, youre wrong, we're not in trouble" in the most condescending corporate ways possible lol). Phil may have dodged a few points, but he did circle back to some as well on his own because he seems like he genuinely wants to communicate what his company is trying to do without stepping on the toes of other contracts or NDAs they have in the future. He toes that line really well Xbox behind closed doors probably keeps shifting direction, getting their info leaked, and mismanaging certain games, then they tell Phil "hey man we're pivoting again bc we didnt make progress fast enough, clean up the mess! Youre good at it!". He's an exec so I dont feel signifcant sympathy, but his company really does no justice to how good of a job he specifically does as the face of Xbox. He's extremely personable and seems to really enjoy working in the gaming industry Other than Gaben, Phil is probably the best ambasador for the large gaming platforms that we have. I hope Microsoft gets their act together in a consumer-friendly way, and with him still around
I think Hanson is focuses on comes from two places. First is that Phil himself is a charismatic spokesperson and, even when the corporate dogs are up his ass, seems genuine even if a little elusive. The second point is that Sony and Nintendo are far less transparent in their goals so there has always been frustration from a fan level about what the Japanese juggernauts are actually doing long term. All that to say that Microsoft comes off as more transparent in their goal about play anywhere but what does it matter if what you have to play is lacking or non existent. Really ashame because I think there really is a bright future in the industry where Xbox offers a great value proposition (buffet style) and Sony/Nintendo being a la carte premium product (black tie restaurant).
@@justincolgan1833 I wouldn't call Phil Spencer genuine or transparent. There's plenty of stuff all three companies you mention don't want to discuss. The difference is, Nintendo and Sony simply don't discuss those things while Microsoft makes a bunch of stuff up and then wonder why everyone is mad when they don't come through.
Re that one community question about content on different platforms - I'm mostly good with the current set up since I do think too many streams on the main channel could bother some people. But I would really like if you did polls on the RUclips community feed. I don't feel like it would annoy anyone since people who don't like community posts just ignore them anyway, but I'd be way more likely to see it than a Twitter poll.
Really glad P3 reload got some discussion. As someone who started the Persona series with P4, and played P3 FES after that, I don't have the reverie that many have for this entry. For me, it's like eating my least favorite flavor of cake. It's not my first choice, but hey, it's still cake. Because this remake kind of came out of nowhere to me, I'm very curious about what other people are thinking about it.
Well, P3R actually made a lot of additions and improvements to the OG and their are some differences. I think it's a great remake since it's mostly faithful to the OG, but there are some things that I don't like about it looking very P5 in terms of UI and not like the OG P3 Ui's and how they do certain scenes, but I think it does a good job of making a good remake. Also, as I heard that they aren't going to do a Royal thing anymore and just going to add DLC like how most game does it now. There was a leak that they may add the Answer from FES, but no confirmation of the Female Protag. Their only goal was to make the OG P3 better instead of making a definitive version.
Like wasn't the point of today's podcast to clear up bad communication from their end? Then they just basically give a whole lot of non answers to compound it! I think Ben is just impressed with a corporate head being a good public speaker. Like ok.@@burnout713
it's like the biggest self-report someone can make for being prone to "vibes-based" messaging and PR sound bytes. basically announcing "I'm swayed by style over substance" 😂
If the Persona 3 cast doesn't immediately "click" with you as the ones in 4 and 5 - that is very much on purpose. Unlike in 4 and 5, character growth in this game is part of the plot and not just after one arc sectioned off to social links. P3 overall is a slow burn imo. The story takes a while to get going but the way it is narratively structured and how the characters aren't trapped in a stasis for social link purposes is imo infinitely better than in the sequels. Also yeah, by far the best story overall but that might just be my bias talking. Would love to hear Elise's and Charle's impressions should they finish the game!
Most of the character growth in Persona 3 works exactly like in P4 and P5, the difference is that it's reserved to their second awakening rather than their first. Akihiko and Mitsuru are in the game's story since the beginning, but they're "trapped in a stasis" until October/November, when tragedy strikes and they have to consider their purpose for fighting/living. That's their moment in the spotlight, just like how the characters in P4 and P5 have their moment in the spotlight, only in those games it's presented as part of the introduction to their respective teams. I find it much more effective in the sequels because you don't spend 70% of the game feeling indifferent to the characters around you, and then the social links offer deeper insight into the characters in a way that isn't tied to the main story. That's not a negative, it's a different approach. If anything, those portions and their second awakening being optional/missable strenghtens the core idea of bonds making you stronger.
@@Vlayer Really disagree here. The most comparable P3 character in terms of how they're written is Fuuka. She has her bullying arc with Natsuki and then is basically "done" for most of the game. Her second awakening comes pretty much out of left field and doesn't really has much buildup. That's how character writing in 4 and 5 works as well. Just compare Junpei and Ryuji for example. Junpei has a whole arc on his inferiority complex and envy on the protagonist in the first arc of the game. He constantly struggles to keep his "dudebro" persona up and it's only when he meets Chidori that he seemingly finds his place in the world and truly gets over it. And then when that gets taken away he has a moment where he reverts back to it after hearing about how the protag was carrying Death with him all this time, but quickly snaps out of it again in realising that he isn't only living for himself now. Junpeis growth in P3 is imo leagues above anything a maincast character goes through in P4 or 5. The only character who maybe comes close would be Akechi in Royal (definitely not in Vanilla lol). Ryuji in comparison has his big character arc with Kamoshida and then gets relegated to "gotta make up with my old track & field buddies" of which nothing is reflected in the main story. Akihiko has his whole back and forth with Shinjiro throughout the game, ending in his second awakening which then leads into him becoming a mentor-figure to Ken. Mitsuru carries incredible guild for her family being responsible for the dark hour, which is reflected in her tense relationship with Yukari. They fail to connect throughout the whole game, Yukari constantly questions Mitsurus reason for fighting and doesn't trust her - which all gets resolved on the class trip from which on these two form a deep friendship based on how they both want to make up for the past. Compare the interpersonal conflicts of P3 to the "great fallout of the group" in P5 which was basically Morgana calling Ryuji stupid one time too many and then being unable to take the heat back because of his inferiority complex. That conflict leads absolutely nowhere and has mainly the purpose of shaking up the dynamic of the narrative and introducing Haru. Morgana and Ryujis relationship never evolves, always stays this weird almost abusive, childish squabble even in Strikers. You never get anything as interesting as Mitsuru-Yukari or Junpei-protag, because everything is sectioned off to social links and always has to be centered around the protagonist. No group dynamic outside of Joker. I really wish they'd return to the writing of P3 with P6. Giving the main cast early social links completely obstructs any meaningful growth as part of the plot from the very get go.
That's a really good point. There's definitely much more character development in the main plot compared to the sequels. I enjoy the sequels more for mechanical reasons, but I've been curious about why others hold P3 in such high regards.
@@TheLastDaysOfSorrow I don't understand how you can compare the P4/5 characters with Fuuka in terms of growth. You'd have to completely ignore the journey of how and why they awaken to their persona, and you shouldn't just because of the argument that they're "done" after that, which I'd argue is false in multiple cases. Can you honestly say that Fuuka is on the same level of depth as Rise or Futaba, who have an entire dungeon and month dedicated to them? Not to mention how Fuuka's arc has the most flimsy attachment to the core theme in that it tries to compare the "loss" of a friend transferring to literal death. You bring up Akihiko having growth by referencing his arguments with Shinji, but that's not growth. Their arguments don't spur change in either of them, it's the October event that does, and unfortunately the build-up to it is more so handled like a twist than properly explored, with clear hints that Ken is planning something major, but little else. At the same time you dismiss the Morgana/Ryuji conflict when that aspect of the story carries much more weight not just for Morgana's character, but also for the trajectory of the Phantom Thieves as a whole, highlighting the naivety of their goals and the allure of the power fantasy. Morgana is upset not just because of his inferiority complex, he also feels like an outcast in a group of outcasts. The group is growing in fame, but he on the other hand is more and more on the outs, not feeling like an equal. Meanwhile, Ryuji wants to revel in the fame and get acknowledged for it. What started as a mission to inspire others to enact change has become more so about pleasing the public to gain their favor. Morgana recognizes this in Ryuji, but what bothers him the most is that he recognizes himself in it, a "selfish" desire for recognition. These desires are at the core of what made powerful people like the Palace rulers become as corrupted as they are. So while they do bicker before and after that, there is growth because the true issue at hand is more so about their own flaws rather than their relationship. Junpei is my favorite character in P3 because his arc accomplishes the equivalent to that in regards to the core theme of P3. Still, I don't think it's much to do with his relationship to the protagonist. It is more about him not having the leader role, rather than who has it. As for Yukari, she does get a decent amount of the spotlight which is why I only brought up Akihiko and Mitsuru. That said, with Yukari and Mitsuru, the conflict is very much one-sided from Yukari's side, and it's not nearly as developed as Junpei's jealousy towards the MC. Yukari basically calls Mitsuru out for hiding secrets, Mitsuru tells the truth, and then they barely interact until the aftermath of the November operation. It is handled better than Akihiko overcoming Shinji's death in a single day, but again the detail that goes into the P4/5 characters upon their initial awakening is just as, arguably more, rich in terms of characterization and growth. The addition of social links judt allows for even deeper exploration, and it being optional to the main plot does not invalidate it at all. I think the best comparison would actually be Aigis, if her "humanity" wasn't delayed until after the confrontation with Ryuji/Nyx. Her character only truly shines after that moment, but it didn't need 6 months of her just being a literal robot, it could've been done like in P4/5 where a month/dungeon of the story could be dedicated to her arc. Even more so, the addition of the Aeon social link only further elevates how poignant her character is, even though it's of no consequence to the main story.
@@Vlayer Fuuka is by far the weakest character in P3 and my main point here is that she gets her time in the spotlight and then just gets put off to the sidelines for you to eventually unlock her social link, which is foundamentally how P4 and 5 handle their characters. They get their arcs and then get relegated to social links, where they have to maintain a certain status quo to prevent any contradictions with the rest of the plot. I'd agree that both Rise and Futaba are stronger characters (even though I really think that Futabas portrayal as a nerd and borderline hikikomori is equally cringy as it is toothless). Akihiko doesn't grow until Shinjis death, correct. That's the whole point of his arc. He's stuck in the past and on a delusional pursuit of strength. Him „getting over Shinjis death in a day“ (which I'd really disagree with) is the point where he finally is able to let go of fear and regret and instead starts to fight on the behalf of his loved ones - hence why his relationship with Ken is so essential to his arc. I agree that it needed more exploration in the making though - which is exactly what Reload provides imo. The themes of the Morgana/Ryuji conflict sound fantastic if you want to tie them into the broader themes of P5 but I absolutely disagree that there's any amount of character growth here. Their relationship is exactly the same after the conflict as it is before. And yes, if you'd want to signal them overcoming their respective flaws and growing as characters, you'd at least give them a scene, where they have a heart-to-heart, get all of their frustrations and insecurites out. Then you could let them revert back to bickering but hint that it is now more out of mutual respect and overall closeness. This would actually strengthen the bond these two characters share in the group. Sadly though, this doesn't happen and Morganas backhanded comments at Ryuji arguably even get worse after this. Yukari and Junpei have a comparable relationship - with the main difference being, that Junpei actually behaves like a pig occassionally which absolutely legitimizes Yukaris annoyance (especially considering Yukaris distaste for casual flirt-culture). Yukaris conflict with Mitsuru is for the most part one-sided, yes. I don't really see where that devalues the narrative. Saying that nothing happens between them after Mitsuru tells them the truth about the Dark Hour is basically completely omitting the whole trip to Yakushima Island and Ikutsuki plus Yukaris struggle with her deceased father and his heritage. All of this happens throughout the narrative and not in a formulaic „villain of the month“-arc reminiscent of how some Shounen Jump manga introduce characters, only to add them to an ever growing roster where they slowly become a caricature of what their characters initially were meant to be. Aigis truly „finding“ her humanity a little too late in the narrative, I actually agree with. Not by much though since her going through this rapid change towards the end of the story and becoming a somewhat surrogate for the protagonist, is pivotal imo. I think we just fundamentally disagree on how the Persona narratives should be structured. And to clarify one point: I'm not against social links for the main party at all - if they don't come at the cost of the main plot (and that's where we disagree lol). Reload actually has social link-esque events, which give the cast more color and depth on top of the base narrative - and that's essentially how I'd want it to be in P6. Because I genuinely think that after their respective arcs, the casts of P4 and 5 become for the most part stagnant, with a tiring almost formulaic group dynamic, where each character is a little bit to comfortable in their respective archetype. One reason why I consider the third semester in Royal fundamentally better than anything in Vanilla P5 is that Akechi and Sumire have an inherently unique dynamic with Joker and each other. They're not part of a growing unanimous collective of goody-two shoes, but had their own agendas throughout the narrative - they're individuals. Both of them have openly questioned the shaky moral foundation on which the Phantom Thieves operate, which then perfectly leads into Marukis perspective. It reminded me a lot of how P3 was written and made the contrast all the more noticeable. Having said all that - I do love P4 and P5, don't get me wrong here. I just think they've wasted alot of their potential when it came to character writing and plot. Oh and more addendum: I really can't stress enough how much of a difference the dorm makes. It's not just the daily conversations between characters but also where they're placed and how they reflect on their own issues and/or recent happenings in the story. It enriches the whole experience and really emphasizes the feeling of „family“ (as cringy as that may sound). Sorry if I butchered some of these thoughts btw, esl here.
Thinking about the opening debate - I was glad Leo brought up the point in my head, that the message of this podcast could have just been a twitter thread. That said the objection is not "they shouldn't have done this podcast" even if I think it was slim on substance. The problem is telling everyone to wait a wait to hear this podcast answer their questions - that's what created unusual expectations for what it would be.
Been waiting for the persona 3 reload discussion just to hear the music is annoying 😭 I don’t even enjoy dancing yet I’ve been vibing like crazy to the ost
For the games for couples question I'd suggest ilomilo! It's all path-based puzzles so you don't really have to worry about platforming or combat abilities and it's overall a very adorable experience.
Idk if this is still a thing, it’s been a few years. But I remember polygon used to stream on RUclips but then moved to twitch because they said people would unsub like every time they did a RUclips stream. So maybe do a week or so of testing RUclips streams and see if that’s the case for y’all too if you want to move.
Kinda crazy to me that ppl think it will stop at 4 games. I still remember Phil saying in 2016 that not all games would go to PC lol. No changes to GP was great despite weak numbers. As for the "business event" it could've been a blog or a tweet, no need to let it fester for a week imo.
Either one is fine, because you don't have to start with P3R, because they are all inclusive and are their own things. Different stories, characters, concepts, music, theme, ect. But I would recommend playing P5R since that's recent, but P5R is also a good place to start. I started with P3 and gradually went up to P4 and then P5. But either or is fine since their both beginner friendly, but one game may do somethings better than the others.
They exist independently, a la Final Fantasy. There are references and minor mechanical differences, but you'll get a full experience from either starting point. Pick whichever you think you'd prefer based on their trailers, I'd say.
having played 3 4 growing up, i love all three soundtracks for their different vibes. 3 music is no doubt goofy and i kind of like that they kept that in. though the mix on some songs is really weird.
despite the continued bad press around them, from a public standpoint it feels like xbox is thinking more about the evolution and survival of the console market than playstation is
I loved a game named Claymates on the SNES, and thanks to the NSO, i was able to replay it when it released on there, and whilw not great, I'd say it's still not bad.
Minnmax helldivers 2 night with their community in the works someday? Leo sold me btw. Im also not a multiplayer type of person unless its a fighting game, but im down for this. Potential goty here? (Once ppl pull themselves away from ff7r of course) Anyway, lets spread democracy 😅.
Ben was so close on the rice ball thing. Hawaii has pretty much just that but in a rectangle. Spam music, may sound gross at first glance but don’t sleep on it!
compared to PS... Phil Spencer is a great leader and actually talks to his fan base so much more their is no comparison imo. Kyle sounded like an idiot here in my opinion... The internet was literally shitting all over Xbox and tons of people were talking about selling there Xbox's and its pointless to have an Xbox (similar to the internet after they said they were going to put there games on PC day and date a few years ago). PlayStation, when Jim Ryan was actually in charge, he literally only talked when they did a showcase and it was always horrible PR speakala "we believe in generations". The best part about Xbox shutting down this whole "Xbox is going full 3rd party, the full slate is going to PlayStation!" Bullshit... was PlayStation CEO coming out and saying that they are going to start putting out their games on PC day and date LoL. As well as that PlayStation hasn't talked about any 1st party games for a WHILE because they do not have any games coming out for at least a full year... Very deflating for me as far as PlayStation because I am not too much of a Final Fantasy fan (I did beat FF16 but it was a very repetitive game that was not too but the boss fights were decent)
The thing is that it yhe xbox news not actually being big news IS the big news. Many people were assuming "Oh we're about to get this big announcement of Xbox leaving the console race, etc" and when we get confirmation hey no we're not doing that, now people are like "There was no news." Its like ??????? Say what you will about Phil and their manner of speak (I dony have a hand in either consoles, more pc myself) but the news we did receive was big news. The public was snowballing incredibly fast with rumors that Xbox had to say something publicly.
My only gaming console is the Nintendo switch. If those four rumoured xbox games are true, Sea of theives, grounded, hifi rush and pentament, which one should I get first?
Pentiment for the story, then Hi-Fi Rush for the gameplay (lowkey think Hi-Fi will benefit from being played on Switch 2 due to technical limitations).
Youre missing the point of microsofts ecosystem. Theyll still be relevant because you can play their games "anywhere" using cross play, cross saves and "play anywhere". Playstation and Nintendo dont offer that. Unless you count Switches handheld mode lol
I use youtube and essentially nothing else, twitter, discord and twitch are places i dont care to be. So as far as the twitch vs youtube stuff i dont think it would hurt to just put it all on youtube as wel
Yes, that was a damp squib at best, especially not naming the games coming over, and half answers given, with a desperate mid ground attempt to please all sides, mainly PR waffle. Also, Diablo 4 going to GP is not the carrot many are saying it is. It's a shell of game that they may as well give away on GP to sell the BP, and the £70 horse bundles.... Also, it's simply not as fun to play as 3 sadly.....
I really wish Hanson was into Persona, given how much he loves JRPGs, it annoys me how much he has a fanboy adoration towards FF7 but a complete disinterest in Persona even though I'd argue they are better games. But I get it, it's all personal taste and it's a time and place thing, I just wish he wasn't so dismissive of those games just because they're so long.
If ps users dig these games that come over, and then later they get a timed exclusive sequel on Xbox and on game pass day 1, I could see a lot of people switching over or at least consider owning both consoles. Right now it’s easier for people to plug their ears and pretend cool shit like Hi Fi Rush doesn’t exist. Also if this brings in more money for Xbox then that probably means more stuff on game pass too
People are just not gonna switch over to Xbox. Even with the PS3, which was probably the worst console ever for Sony and it had almost no exclusives still outsold the Xbox while they had shit like mass effect, tomb raider etc. exclusive.
@@Vyyc-m9g The ps3 only caught up to the 360 towards the very end of that generation. Because most people did go from ps2 to 360. I’m not saying Xbox will ever relive the heyday they had with that console, but I think giving PlayStation 5 owners a taste of their library might be a better strategy than what they have been doing up ‘til now.
they said that: - first party games go to other platforms, starting with "those 4" - Game Pass has 34 million subscribers - day and date on GP remains a thing - Diablo 4 is coming to GP in March - they're working on more hardware that's pretty much it. The rest was just mind numbingly self-indulgent PR nonsense imo.
Huh? They said a lot. They made clear the strategy and reasoning behind going multiplatform, squashed rumours about key games going to PS, gave updates on the state and shape of the business, and confirmed new hardware is in development, both mid and next-gen. What more do you want in a "business update"?
The "naming confusion" fault over the Xbox One lies with the public, not with Microsoft. People bafflingly insisting on referring to the first console as "Xbox One" doesn't make it so. It was the Xbox. If folks can just name it whatever they want and then pretend it's the company's fault, let's agree that Microsoft's first console was called Fireblaster, or Growlchurner, or Jeremy. All are just as entitled to be the name of Microsoft's first console as "Xbox One" is.
I don't agree with Phil being a good communicator. I watched it at 1.75 speed and he was just saying the same thing over and over. It was obvious what games he was talking about so he did ruin Nintendo's Showcase regardless. The podcast felt like a parody of how people see Phil. "We are here for the gamers. That's why we brought Blizzard and laid off our staff." If they had more faith in the platform they maybe there was a chance to come back, but they just spent so much on Blizzard.
1:05:53 It's not gonna be Persona 5 level dungeons? But the game is more expensive than Persona 5. Persona 5 Royal is 50 dollar game and this is 70 dollar game. If they are charging full price, they should have fully redesign and remake the tartarus. Tartarus is essentially half of the game and it is embarrassingly bad. I wouldn't say it is Persona 4 level. Persona 4 dungeons are better than this.
Persona 5 Royal is $60 and is a PS4 game. P3R is a PS5 game and so is posting at that price point. I'd argue 5 is also worth $70 in terms of bang-for-buck. 3 may not have as intricately designed dungeons, but is definitely worth the price of admission.
My biggest problem with Phil and all of Xbox is they are so disingenuous the way they talk about exclusivity. It’s really easy to act like exclusivity is bad and you’re above it when you can’t sell anything. I don’t believe anything they say, and I really never have.
My sweet baby boy is a male Calico. I found out how rare he was when I first took him to the vet and all the veterinarians were making a huge deal about him lol IRL shiny Pokemon
Games media such as MinnMax aren't even reporting on the Suikoden creator passing away, which just got reported on two days ago. Very disappointed in places like here and Kinda Funny that they don't even mention it. He created some of the greatest games of all-time with Suikoden 2 largely considered one of the best RPG's ever and you guys don't even mention it? Sorry, I lose all respect for you. If this was Kojima kicking the bucket we would never hear the end of it.
Love Helldivers but wish some of the coop stuff like bunkers locked by 2 switches Would just not exist Until the cesspool that is humanity stops being ableist racist queerphobic transphobic bigots I'm stuck playing solo and so far managing just fine. Medium is so far the limit for solo mission's but still loving it. But hate that it actually has coop locked rooms in solo play. Not all of us are straight white males whom can just laugh off shitty jokes. Some of us get death threats if we even hint at being different. So devs reallllly need to like realise this. Just give us like 1 A.I companion who comes in just to open the door then gets killed instantly as a funny joke. Anything is better than being permanently locked out as my RNG stat sheet at birth made me 5 things people hate 🤷
You don't need to do voice chat to play matchmaking, the game has a robust ping/vox system to help communicate. I've encountered only one player who used a mic in game and she was very funny. Obviously your mileage may vary, but you can easily mute player audio in the settings, and still communicate in spite of it.

Likewise, i tried elder scrolls online for like 40 minutes but have like 10 hours on the books because i left the launcher running after quitting haha

So, I had no idea that the "MinnMax Stream Archives" channel even existed in all this time...
It’s a somewhat recent addition.

Aha! Thanks.
Here's my summary of what I'm seeing online with the Xbox stuff:
The reasonable Xbox fans are satisfied and reassured.
Most of this was dispelling BS that had been circulating for weeks/months from people trying to will the death of Xbox into existence (And some legitimate leaks that may have had plans changed in the final hours)
But it really is exhausting attempting to reason with people that Xbox really is here to stay. Some people are disappointed by that and a lot of people will just never join the Xbox ecosystem and that is fine. But stop trying to kill it by spreading FUD.
Edit: BTW good on Janet during the Xbox conversation. Thumbs up!
This!
Xbox marketing is full of shit. Exclusives matter.
@@burnout713 biggest tech leap after the shortest and most underwhelming gen ever, lol
I am truly baffled every time Hanson says the Xbox team is good at messaging.
Take a shot everytime says "We want gamers to play everywhere." - Play what? it doesn't matter if players can play anywhere if there is nothing to play lol
I actually like it because it makes it very easy for me to just disregard Xbox entirely
He toes that line really well
Xbox behind closed doors probably keeps shifting direction, getting their info leaked, and mismanaging certain games, then they tell Phil "hey man we're pivoting again bc we didnt make progress fast enough, clean up the mess! Youre good at it!". He's an exec so I dont feel signifcant sympathy, but his company really does no justice to how good of a job he specifically does as the face of Xbox. He's extremely personable and seems to really enjoy working in the gaming industry
Other than Gaben, Phil is probably the best ambasador for the large gaming platforms that we have.
Kyle arrived at the tepid take singularity saying that the hot Xbox news is actually not hot news 😅
“the superbowl of corporate messaging” is an instant classic
1:25:15 I’m so glad I happened to glance up at the screen at this point. Thank you, Leo. I too was enraptured with this gaming lore.
Ben calling Phil Spencer the GOAT communicator and Microsoft being great at communicating for over a decade is certainly a take lol
And a wild one at that!
Like wasn't the point of today's podcast to clear up bad communication from their end? Then they just basically give a whole lot of non answers to compound it! I think Ben is just impressed with a corporate head being a good public speaker. Like ok.@@burnout713

I agree, the strap in the back does feel good
If the Persona 3 cast doesn't immediately "click" with you as the ones in 4 and 5 - that is very much on purpose.
Kinda crazy to me that ppl think it will stop at 4 games. I still remember Phil saying in 2016 that not all games would go to PC lol. No changes to GP was great despite weak numbers. As for the "business event" it could've been a blog or a tweet, no need to let it fester for a week imo.
If I’ve never played persona but am interested in it, would P3R or P5R be a better starting place?

Its like ??????? Say what you will about Phil and their manner of speak (I dony have a hand in either consoles, more pc myself) but the news we did receive was big news. The public was snowballing incredibly fast with rumors that Xbox had to say something publicly.

Youre missing the point of microsofts ecosystem. Theyll still be relevant because you can play their games "anywhere" using cross play, cross saves and "play anywhere". Playstation and Nintendo dont offer that. Unless you count Switches handheld mode lol

RE6 let you dive back to prone
Microsoft legit said a whole bunch of nothing today 😒
As usual.
they said that:
- first party games go to other platforms, starting with "those 4"
- Game Pass has 34 million subscribers
- day and date on GP remains a thing
- Diablo 4 is coming to GP in March
- they're working on more hardware
that's pretty much it. The rest was just mind numbingly self-indulgent PR nonsense imo.
People expecting a whole lot of something after reading some tweets. Get a grip.
I found out how rare he was when I first took him to the vet and all the veterinarians were making a huge deal about him lol
IRL shiny Pokemon
Ah yes, league of legends. On Steam!?!?!? Ok then.
Why try to defend Phil Spencer? He’s nice but terrible.
Yeah, I don't get it.
Xbox is good a messaging?! Wtf u talking about
Nintendo bring Zelda to Playstation, it's healthy for the industry
How much you wanna bet Kyle has Nintendo tattooed somewhere on his body.
One guy with 3 haters as always. If you say you don't care, shut up then that show was not for you anyway.
Stop listening to insiders
That seems dumb.
Kinda Funny covered it, check out " No Major PlayStation Franchise Games Coming This Year - Kinda Funny Games Daily 02.14.24 "
I'm pretty sure I heard kinda funny mention it the other day. Also going on witch hunts is not a good way to honor a beloved creator.
Hey, the industry is constantly being barraged with news and updates. Not everyone can catch everything.
Love Helldivers but wish some of the coop stuff like bunkers locked by 2 switches
Would just not exist
Until the cesspool that is humanity stops being ableist racist queerphobic transphobic bigots
I'm stuck playing solo and so far managing just fine.
Xbox is dead 😂
