Fun fact: Azealia used the music without asking permission (the original track is an instrumental called Float My Boat). The DJ duo Lazy Jay (who are from Belgium) heard the track by pure coincidence when she got picked up by the British radio. They liked what she did with the track and reached out to Azealia to tell her she could use the track as long as they were credited for the music. Everything was fine, just needed a signature, but then Azealia got picked up by a major record company and the lawyers came crashing down and said "no deal". Lazy Jay just responed with "yeah, that's not how it works" and got their own lawyers on the case who issued a DMCA strike. Suddenly the record company was scrambling to clear everything up since this was the track she became famous with and they couldn't use it anymore. I can't remember if she still got the orignal deal or is she had to pay for the track now, but at least justice is served and they are properly credited.

Fun fact: literally every hip hop producer ever has used music without permission. Check Gang Starr (moment of truth) for an older case of the same thing with all of the legal shit. If you think this is news, you don't know shit about hip hop... or house or any kinda bass/dance music. Every hip hop track at one point dug in the crates for inspiration. Nobody gave a fuck til artists started making money. Then the hammer came down. The greatest play of the industry was turning hip hop artists against one another when its the literal art form.
@@aspect57 My fun fact was more about how the record company bodged the deal with Lazy Jay than Amelia Banks using their music (like I said, they didn't want money, just credit for the track).
Azealia did a similar thing with her song Ice Princess, she sings over the original track by Morgan Page In the Air, sung by Angela McClusky. I showed it to Angela. :)

You would love "The Big Big Beat" by her, as well as "1991". She's got KILLER verses on those, and yeah she raps over house beats-which imo she doesn't get enough credit for because it's super difficult to do, and most rappers would sound like clowns if they touched one of her beats.
