Whisky.com reviews the Deanston Virgin Oak. For the Deanston Virgin Oak, some barrels were married with young whisky and finished in burnt American oak barrels.
The Deanston distillery was built on the premises of an old cotton mill. Everywhere in the rooms there is the flair of the 19th century. After it was closed in the mid-80s, production resumed in 1991.

This is the cheapest single malt available where I live and the quality makes it the best bang for the buck as well.

Deanston can do no wrong, they make great product even at their entry level offering

True, but only if they did *not* add any colouring to them (Deanston V.O, (the new packaging) Ledaig 10, Tobermory 12 etc ALL have some E150A in them, the only thing preventing them to be integrity bottlings.

@@onYTsince2008 the integrity things is fun if you are predicting if you are going to like a bottle and want to purchase it. Coloring and chill filtering do not matter if you already like the product, then its just pretentious bantering. No one is saying Laprhoaig 10 isn't flavorful enough because its chill filtered for example.

@@onYTsince2008 from the official Deanson website: Bottled at 46.3% ABV - the sweet spot to demonstrate VO’s unique character...soft, honeyed with the creamy mouthfeel and waxy texture you only find in a bottle of Deanston.
Non-chill filtered to lock in all that flavour and no added colour for a true representation of our liquid from cask to bottle.

Ledaig 10 and Tobermory 12 do not use e150a.

Single malt aged like a bourbon. Excellent value. Cheap enough that it can be mixed without hesitation, but also very good as a neat pour. Thank you for the review.

For a neat pour it is tasty. For a mix why would you spend this much money? Just buy a blended scotch for half the price

Actually it’s aged exactly like a Bourbon. Its aged in ex-Bourbon casks and then finished in Virgin Oak. Still very interesting product at a good price.

I absolutely love the 12 year but I’m always hesitant to try nas bottlings. However it is a Deanston so I’ll be picking this one up soon. Another fine review Horst

I’m looking for a more affordable scotch, as I have been purchasing a lot of the higher shelf bottles of 12-14 year old single malts. This has my attention and will be trying very soon. Love watching your reviews and trust them.

For the cheaper price tag I prefer this to the 12 .
I just got a bottle of virgin oak for £27 from a Glasgow supermarket.
