  • The students at the University of Connecticut told LTU what they consider to be the worst parts about UConn. Despite having plenty of positive thoughts about their school in LTU's Best Parts About UConn video, these students do believe there is room for improvement. Located in the town of Storrs, the University of Connecticut is home to nearly 20,000 undergraduate students. With such a large student body, it can be difficult to satisfy everyone. LTU interviewed several UConn students to find out what exactly they dislike the most about the school. Whether you are a prospective student, current student, or simply someone just interested, you are sure to learn a lot about what bothers the students at the University of Connecticut. Let us know in the comments which part mentioned by these students you consider to be the worst part about UConn.
    Thank you to all the participating students in this video!

    YES! The wind and the cold are terrible. And it's a big campus, so it can be a long cold walk to class. I'd say the worst problem, as an alum and CT resident, is that it just seems like the administration is more concerned about how the school ranks in the listing of best colleges than they are about the students. Over $1B has been spent building new buildings etc over the last 20 years, but they just keep tacking on tuition and fee increases every year to pay for it. When I went there it looked like a cement block prison. Now it looks like a luxury resort. Which is great if you want to attract full price international students, but not so great if you're a middle class in-state student.

    UCONN is more diverse than I thought. CT is 70% white and UCONN is 15% lower than that. If there was an issue of diversity I feel the college would have a lower concentration of poc than the State but it's actually the opposite.

    • @mma.y
      @mma.y 3 года назад +13

      Fair point however it doesnt really make for a well-rounded student. Being in the classroom is valuable but also opportunities are few and far between if you're in the middle of nowhere. If you're closer to a city, for example, you can scout out places for internships or co-ops where you could apply your classroom lectures in the world before graduating.

    • @GhostOfYowie
      @GhostOfYowie 3 года назад +2

      @@mma.y But for internships and co-ops they have it on campus in the student resources center and events like job fairs that take place in the beginning of the semester. I think cursing the school just because they don't have parties, bars, and ragers shouldn't make out the school to be bad when education should be the main purpose know what I mean?

    2:25 when your entire life revolves around portraying yourself as a victim.
    Even though 80% of Connecticut is white, "about 45% of UConn’s Class of 2024 are students of color -18% are Hispanic/Latinx and 7.5% are Black. Of Connecticut’s 169 towns and cities, 162 are represented in the new class. A large number of transfer students come from Connecticut community colleges and other in-state institutions, the university said.
    At the Storrs campus, where about 3,900 freshmen are enrolled, about 42% of first-year students are ethnic and racial minorities, and about 14% are international students. Of the first-year students at Storrs, 51% are female and 49% are male." Hartford Courant
