I thought you were good but when I saw watch I said this guy is a professional. Pal I need to give you the recognition you deserve this is an outstanding tutorial people don’t understand the pizass it takes to do this. Additionally The camera angles, the editing, the method, distance from action, all perfect. I’m going to make 6 just like this for my kitchen. Really I’m impressed and excited to pass These off to guest as my own doing. You may not have gone viral yet but keep it up and you will.
If you made the pivot points up side down you could just drop the assembly in to the pivots, no caps re quoted. Put 4 pivot mounts around the worktable anf just lift and place the seat were desired. Good build do like the concept!👍
As to the first part of your comment- that was originally the plan, but I flipped it because I didn't have enough space under the benchtop. I like that second idea though!
Great idea! Thank you for sharing the list of bits, and … I understand if you felt frustrated at times, as I can absolutely relate. Im a newbie and there’s so much to learn!
Instead of tapping a screw in your piece, two pieces of blue tape (one on your piece, covered in CA glue and one that has the shank attached, blue tape covered in activator) makes a great workhold for a makeshift lathe without having to screw into your part. The CA combo adheres the dry side of the blue tape, and blue tape is somehow strong enough to hold on until you're ready to peel them off.
That was a really cool build. I'm glad it popped up in my feed. I haven't seen your channel before. I guess you were suggested because I watched James Wright restore an antique seat like this yesterday. You just got a new subscriber. I'm anxious to watch some of your other videos.
Absolutely Fantastic. Im a wood & iron worker in my head and heart but no workshop. If I had a workshop I’d never leave it. I’d eat sleep and play there. Fantastic video, Fantastic job.
Assembly @3:41 is upside down compared to final @6:02, also, are those self-tappers going into the wooden seat? I think some 3/4" ID thrust bearings would reduce wear on pivot points. I like your idea, good video.
Leuk idee wat ik zeker ga gebruiken, super van je dat je de gebruikte materialen erbij hebt gezet, zo is het wat makkelijker bij de ijzerwinkel de spullen te kopen 👍👍👍
Love the idea but not being a woodworker I think I'd just buy the seat. Good job! Might try it with my cheap Harbor Freight work bench but I'd definitely have to reinforce the leg and bolt the bench to the wall.
Thanks! It’s pretty great, one thing I did to it later was add some loctite to the threads because the seat had a tendency to tilt left or right if I leaned too far in either direction. Since doing that though, it’s been all good!
I was rushing. I should’ve given it more time than I did and the last straw was the way I stressed it with the clamp. I don’t think it’ll happen again, but I can replace it if it does.
@@stevenlee9994 Thank you for watching! I do! But I have not really posted any of my woodworking- yet. I plan on making a new one for that purpose soon. If you’d like to follow, my handle is @sarisgeorge. I’ll make sure to post an update when I make the new one.
@@anarcholeptic cool! I look forward to seeing your new IG. For the various hardware and fittings, did you buy it at a local big box store or online? I just checked my Home Depot and all the various pipes and fittings will bring me close to $100 =( SoCal is expensive
@@stevenlee9994 I did buy from a big box store, I’m not sure if they’re down in SoCal but it’s a chain called Menards. If not, maybe you can look online and see if they’ll ship to you?
Damn bro , you are very creative and am impressed by this whole video i watch it to end .. But i most of all very much impressed with ur table clamp. I would love to build 1 of them clamp.. Can you show us how to.. Thanks
Not exactly- I think the only failure point would be pulling the screws straight out of the leg of the bench, which isn't gonna happen. I found that I can actually lever the workbench off the ground a little by putting the stool in the right position and leaning out as far as I possibly can. It wouldn't happen by accident, it takes some effort. One problem I did have was that the seat started to be able to tilt left/right if I leaned that direction. Not a structural problem, but annoying enough that I took apart the elbow joints and put on lots of thread locker, which has done the trick so far. If that fails, I might try to put a couple little tack welds at the meeting of those joints just to lock them up for good. Thanks for commenting!
@@anarcholeptic Would it be smart for me to use thread locker in all the joints when putting this together? My goal is to create my own picnic table and attach these as the seats for my guest.
The bench series was awesome, and this is a fantastic addition! Great idea, execution, and video👏 Thank you so much for sharing 🙏

10/10 and I'm definitely making one of these. I need to give particular praise to the fact that this was mostly done with hand tools. Bravo.
Really cool build, might try making a swing arm for my roller seat. Wont look as nice but then I'll have adjustable height.

Just outstanding sir
This is great but the prices are nowhere near that now. Where did you source them please?
@@GeorgiaTexan Good point, I should probably change the title… Menards. Local big box chain.

Honestly fantastic work. I just subscribed. Looking forward to seeing more content from you man.
Could a seat be made out of a 2 x 12?
Sure!
Wow, my Menards cart today (4/16/2023) for these same parts is $112.06.
That’s crazy, only 2 1/4 years difference.
enough to make only one?@@anarcholeptic
Also, being 230, I'd bolt it to the leg as opposed to screws and move it to the inside of the leg. Very little room around my bench.
Good idea, it appeared to be to close to the bench when in use. At least for me. Seemed to crowd you at the leading edge of your bench.
It's definitely more function than form. I don't use it all that often (because I'm usually standing) but it is really nice to have.
Amazing job!!!
Thanks!
Why do you think the glue joint failed? Any worry it could happen again?

Thank you so much! Which one do you mean- the metal bar that I hit with a hammer, or the vise on the outside edge of the table?
Where do you get your plumbing parts? I priced this out and it was $100
I bought mine from a local big box chain called Menards. The brand of the iron pieces is "SLK". Sorry about that, wish you luck!
If you buy the parts at a plumbers store, they are much cheaper
I use biscuit joints (or dowels) to make sure my planks don't come from together after they're glued.
Awesome. The parts set me back 150 bucks, but they’re American made so maybe the seat will be more comfortable :-)
just gave me a great idea 😅
Have you weight tested this to know how much it will hold?
