Yup, long stem and narrow bars are not going to end well on the sluice. I'm on a modern enduro bike, am an intermediate/advanced rider and there are still some features on the sluice that are way over my pay grade.
@5:25 we kids of the '70's are like.... " We took spill like that on the regular, no helmet, gloves or pads of any type. ' Then cried til our friends made fun of us.. Then stopped crying and got back on the horse that threw us.. Looks like a great challenging run.
Kinda looked like too much front brake. I'm mainly a roadie and have fallen a half dozen times over 30 years. Once you have fallen it will take you a few weeks to lose that fear of falling and relax.
Brandon, I’ve owned a Trek Rail 7 since April and have ridden all over front range from Pueblo and Oil Well Flats, north to Horsetooth and Curt Gowdy in WY, and west to Hubbard’s Mesa in Rifle across all kinds of terrain and I absolutely love the bike. It is a true pleasure to ride and being electric, it just makes it so much more fun! For me, I wanted the ability to go to someone in person with my first eBike should I need to (which I really haven’t thankfully) and the Specialized scared me due to the issues with the motors (the 5 or 6 folks I’ve talked to on local trails since have all had a motor replacement). For me, its not even just the motor but the much better technology and geometry that are just as helpful (I had a Specialized S-Works Epic Carbon from about 2008 before this). I can truly say in all honesty, I don’t think you’d regret purchasing a Trek Rail, I know I haven’t, good luck!!!!
I really liked the review of the trail. I've been wanting to hit that trail when i'm out that way but looking at the map sometimes isn't enough to make sense of it, so it's nice to see good edits and explanations of how it lays out. You guys should look into Guerilla Gravity bikes. They're not e-bikes but full carbon frames made in Denver. Killer bikes and and even more rad company. Keep the videos coming!
This is my favorite trail here in Colorado. My first visit there I had a gnarly crash. You can always have a different run here with all the different line options. So much fun!
MTB CO went well, took it pretty easy, rehabbing an mcl sprain. I Tore all the gears off my old Specialized and turned it into a single speed so I was taking it for a spin.
Thanks for the video guys! I’ve yet to try Floyd Hill as I’ve been riding up and down the front range during many camping trips this season (not much camping near Floyd Hill). That said though, I’m definitely going to get up there before it gets too cold and snowy. I know the uphill will be no trouble for my Trek Rail 7, and I’m looking forward to taking on the Sluice! I understand there are more trails up at the top that are now open. I know you mentioned a “1 mile loop up top” but isn’t there more up there now?
Canyon view loop is the back loop, it is 3 miles, runs well in both directions, but will make you work for it either way. doing the loop CCW is the most common way, gives you a long, fast, flowy descent, with a shorter but techy climb. Doing it CW gives you a shorter but techier descent with a few spicier alt lines, and a long grindy climb out.
If it makes you feel any better, I can tell you from running a 2000+ person MTB Meetup group here in a Colorado for awhile, and teaching a lot of beginners' skills clinics, that you are far from a noob. :)
granted we have ridden before, we still consider ourselves relative beginners in the grand scheme of mtbiking... but thanks for the confidence boost! :)
So the second spot where your friend crashed, that roller/drop trips up a lot of people the first time down, it is just barely rollable on a bike with modern geometry, but as long as you carry some speed (just coasting down from the switchback before it should be sufficient) you should clear it with just a hint of air on most bikes.
Ryan needed to go back up the trail a ways and get more entry speed. He just hit it too slow and endo-ed. =/ Also, a shorter stem would help him a lot.
Not sure what bike the guy was riding but damn, that stem is WAAAAAY to long for riding descends. Keep it short man, 40 to 50 mm is ideal. Long stems tend to shift riders' body weight a little forward and that is not good for obvious reasons. OTB and unbalanced landings are extremely likely!
E-bike riders are like mountain bikers that take shuttles or lifts back up to the top, when available. Which is every f'ing time, ha. Chris - don't EVER ride an e-bike, you'll might never go back to an analog bike!
As your channel grows in popularity it would be cool to see you collab with Matt Jones when he visits the states, like Rampage. ruclips.net/video/v_PWIfdevLA/видео.html
Wow. How does the video have so many views? I would recommend getting more riding skills and maybe not using E-bikes before you waste other actual riders time.
As soon as I saw the long stem, I knew who was going down.

glad you guys made a channel. Excited to see new YT on the trails.

Nice! Funny how I came to this channel ... was just watching your review on the EarthRoamer! Both great channels!
that vibrating hand on the fall, instant adrenaline kick
Yeah, he probably should have calmed down a bit more before getting back on the bike. Think the nerves lead to his second crash.

Because of you guys (Mike mainly) I went to look at eMTB’s and the shop I stopped at only had Treks
Ha, nice! Trek EMTBs are supposed to be pretty good. Some of the other brands should be getting the 2021s pretty soon.

You've inspired me, (to overspend on a new hobby) im going to order a peloton today! Lol
Haha

Great stuff, thanks a bunch. Im riding “Duthie Hill” tomorrow.
How'd your ride go?
MTB CO went well, took it pretty easy, rehabbing an mcl sprain. I Tore all the gears off my old Specialized and turned it into a single speed so I was taking it for a spin.
Nice vid! We have all crashed hard, glad he got back on his bike and kept pedaling... awesome places out there to ride
I love this channel. Really looking forward to your review of these three bikes. Im looking to pick one up and its between these three.
Glad to hear! We will be doing a review of each and comparison videos soon, so stay tuned!
This is very timely for me. Just moved to Boulder and looking to get a bike! No idea what I need though haha!
Something with a motor! ;)
Gotta keep an eye out for those stumps

Now those are real
Emtbikes!!!
I need to get out to this one! Just picked up a 2021 Salsa Beargrease and it would be a good candidate for this.
you should definitely check it out. there a ton of line options if you take the time to find them.
enjoyed this very much, a little diffrent, but enjoyable
Appreciate it!

two of the three bikes have stems way too long for the descents. try 50mm and wider handlebars
Sees long stem- “oh he gon die”
How much was the used Decoy. Just trying to gauge resale value.
I paid $5k for it. It had 230 miles and a bit of paint dmg from a bike rack
Best of luck tho, keep shredding
I bought an NCM what a great bike for15hun

Absolutely. I honestly didn't think he was going to attempt it... or I would have said something. He's in the market for a new bike now :)

It would be a lot easier for your friend if he didn't have a long ass stem better suited for a road bike to start...
What you guys do for work to spend so much at you hobby 😂
E bikes? really? This may be my first comment on youtube ever (it is) but come on guys, E-bikes lol? Get with it, you're young and capable, come on
Don't knock it till you try it!

Why don’t you all ride real bikes?

I woudn't say that they are big noobs
