- Summer shots of two CSX trains are in this short video. First we see M582 with a rebuilt AC44 leading and an original one in YN2 paint mid-train. But what's even more interesting is the second train, M583, with an original SD70MAC leader. As much as many railfans appreciate the SD70MAC rebuilding program, it is quite nice to catch an original one. The rebuilding program makes sure, though, that the MACs will never get old :) Enjoy!
The SD70MAC is still a catch for me. Excellent video.
Yeah, it's awesome. Love it, too. Thanks!
Very correct, thay never get old seeing.
Yep!
Yep, another good one in the surrounding Athens area where we live.. I recognize so many spots!! Love it Bro.. Keep 'em coming..
Thanks! Unfortunately, it's gotten harder to see trains here as there are fewer of them than in the past.
Terrific catch, beautiful landscape, and one awesome EMD SD70mac & horn as well. Excellent video MBM.👍🏼
Great you enjoyed it!
Sweet! Cool to see that scenery and the trains out there, I need to get up that way again more often
Yes, you should come here more often :)
The MAC is indeed a very fine catch. She's in a pretty good shape too. It's great to see an upload from you, I assume you were very busy in the summer months. :)
I was also surprised to see it in this great shape. It was a great catch, indeed. Yeah, I've rarely found time to catch up with the scarce traffic here on my home line, unfortunately.
😊nice video! Very relaxing!
Great!
Great to see you making videos again! Love the mac's,noticed 4705 was a flared radiator.
Yeah, well, I've never stopped. Breaks are sometimes longer, sometimes shorter. It all depends on available time and material. Unfortunately, there are much fewer trains everywhere, which obviously doesn't help to collect footage. This MAC was an awesome catch, though.
Nice catches as always MBM. Fitting tribute to EMD on it's 100th birthday. Seems like trains are getting shorter lately.
Oh yes, you're right! Didn't really think of EMD's birthday when making the video, but it's a good point. Train lengths fluctuate. Thanks to PSR and block switching trains catch whatever cars are ready at the terminals. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
Awesome catch!
Thanks!
Long time no see. Welcome back!
Just a few weeks lol :)
Trains are so cool
Yep.
Great Video as always Brother and you know it's gonna be a heavy manifest train to have 3 Jacks working hard on the headend 😊🚥🇺🇸
Absolutely. The train wasn't superlong, but certainly heavy. Loved to see the granite blocks on the bulkheads close to the rear end.
Good video as always n nice to see back at what you do best
Thanks! It's not my main job, so I hope there are other things that I actually do better, but I'm glad you like the videos :)
All catches just fire
Indeed :)
wow welcome back mr mars...long time no see!!!
Yeah, it's been a while lol
Missed you... and thanks for the awesome rollercoaster...
This is my favorite spot on this line.
I saw a Mac on Horseshoe Curve while on vacation back in May. Mind you though, it looked cyan blue.
Very cool!
@@mbmars01 it was. The lashup was a mixed freight-intermodal with NS9915 leading, UP8786 trailing, and CSX4814 3rd. Arguably, one of my best catches all year.
Awesome. Lashups with different "color" are always special, even if one thinks one has seen it all...
Love those trains in my hometown. Missed your videos! The 11pm train comes thru between 1045-1100pm. Lets me know its bedtime.
Nice. I wonder which train this is.
@@mbmars01 never disappoints …..
Always enjoy your videos.
Very cool you like the videos. Thanks very much for your kind feedback!
SD70MAC. Another great loco out of the SD70 family of locos. SD70, SD70M, SD70ACE, SD70MAC.
It's my favorite. It was EMD's first AC loco that went into large series production. It would have been nice if they had kept up with it since...
@@mbmars01 It would be nice if they made a Tier 4 like they did with the ACE.
That's not likely to happen, but at least they rebuild some of the MACs, giving them a few more years of life.
Hola buenos días desde México sus videos están muy bonitos son impresionantes los trenes saludos
Thanks so much! Great you like the videos.
Nice to Cya back :)
Thanks! It's been quite busy times...
I managed to catch a coal train heading soutbound thru my town.stood in front of the auto zone watching it go by.is that good timing or what?.loved the video.good catch.
Cool, thanks!
Hey mbmars, long Times not make video
Hi, yeah, time flies somehow lol
Nice!
Thanks!
Awesome! What Editing Software Do You Use?
Final Cut Pro X.
@mbmars01 awesome video keep up the good work my friend I enjoyed watching your videos even if my arms are hurting me so much
Thanks so much! Sorry to hear your arms are hurting. Hope you're getting better soon.
Thanks for the good video! Can you please tell me what you shoot the video with and how you record the sound?
Thanks! I currently use a Panasonic WXF1 camcorder. The audio is recorded with the built-in mic.
@@mbmars01 Thanks!
Welcome zuruck! (close?) Hope you're well.
The second "u" should be an umlaut lol (I don't have it on my US keyboard either). I'm good! I hope you're doing well, too!
@@mbmars01 Didn't even check for the umlaut...too lazy! Take care if you want to...
Lol :)
Can I ask - do you know what system is used to control a DPU in the middle or on the rear of a train ? Do they have control wires running through all those wagons ? Here in the UK we never have locos in the middle of a train and only on the rear on passenger services. On these passenger trains the loco is controlled using a system called TDM so all the stock in the train has to have the necessary wiring to be able to carry the signals from the driving cab at the front to the loco on the rear.
Interesting! Here, the DPUs are controlled from the main locomotive via radio signals. In some cases, remote power may have their own crew.
@@mbmars01 Thanks. That makes a lot more sense than control wires running through a two mile long train !
Was that the Chessie cat on the front of the lead locomotive?
What?! That would have made a great catch an extraordinarily awesome catch... :)
Out of curiosity, what camera do you use for your videos?
I used a Panasonic WXF1 camcorder for this video.
@@mbmars01 Thank you, my camera also has 32x optical zoom but the glare of the light from the trains and the grainy footage I try to fix for my camera but nothing is really working
Sorry to hear this :(
YO DO NOT HUMP BOX CAR ON THE MANIFEST TRAIN NSD setting Mac leading the train
The MAC was a highlight. Just love to see them all the time.
Trains should be shorter. They can go faster and are easier to handle and they can use existing sidings.
Shorter trains means more crews, but railroads consider crews a big cost factor. So they take the other route and run longer trains with fewer crews. We'll see where this leads to.
Cough *East Palestine*
@@TrainsAreReallyCool 100 percent true! The thing is, aside from everything else, that one bad derailment costs the railroad much more than what the extra crew expenses would be! The shareholders and management obviously only care about how much they can squeeze out of the railroad now and not it’s future.
@@armandoperez7967 You just described Norfolk Southern's management perfectly.
@@TrainsAreReallyCool It is such a shame, these class ones could have happy employees, happy customers, and the good will of the public and still make great amounts of money! These crises also prompt calls for reregulation and even more expenses, so I really don’t understand what it is that managers and investors think they are “saving”.
Kinda misleading. Only one 70mac in da whole video. More like a tribute to those stinking GE’s.
Well, the description is rather clear about what's in the video, I think :)
