Next trip you go to the rio grande valley, you should go to the Edinburg scenic wetlands they have a butterfly garden and two giant pond is full of egrets and herons, and also spoonbills
One of the main reasons why I love calling the Rio Grande Valley my home!!!
Love, LovE Green Jays :) THIS was the bird that got me all fired up, to jump in my car and drive 2100 miles one way, to the South Texas Rio Grande Valley :) Of course I ended up getting all kinds of other fantastic birds too. But Green Jay was the one that kicked the whole thing off :) I remember when I got to Laguna Atascosa, I asked one of the workers what the odds were that Id see a Green Jay ? He laughed and said, "About 100%" :) He told me to just sit down on the bench right there and wait about 5 minutes :) He was right. I got Nat Geo shots of them :) SO cool :)
PS, when I first stumbled across GJ on the internet, I thought, "Yea, that's cool.... But I'm sure its from the Amazon, right" ? Then I was like, South Texas ! What the... ?!?! 3 days later I was in my car heading for South Texas :) lol Memories of a lifetime :)
Did you come all the way from New England or something? I'm from South Texas but I've driven all the way up to Quebec just to see the leaves change colors haha.
And whenever you go to see the Green Jays especially at Laguna Atascosa bring oranges and grapefruits they'll even go to Suet bar feeders with peanut butter cakes .
The South American subspecies deserves its own species, it looks like a different bird. Im second by the way, great video guys!
@Kahanu Ermeyas-Tulu Thanks for pointing that out, I did not check my spelling sorry. Have a great day!
I loved the video. Green Jays are terrific!
Thank you for reminding me how wonderful the green jay is! Now I'd like to see the Inca subspecies! Great videos. 🌈🐦🌈
These guys visit my feeders daily. Beeville,Tx
That’s awesome!
Are these jays corvids, like blue jays are? Seems like it, given the behaviors and intelligence! They're certainly very pretty and fun to watch too!
They are. You’re welcome. :)
Thanks for sharing - must get down there. When is the best time to find them in South Texas?
How is that just a subspecies… it’s completely different.
Indeed it is…for now
Great videos!! It is amazing!!
Are Green Jays found in built up or suburban areas? In California, Scrub Jays are a common backyard bird.
