Yes! They've saved all of these brands time after time by creating what you'd think the camera brands would when it comes to accessories but I'm glad they're doing it.
Ah, nice! Glad you enjoyed this video! If you've picked up the cage recently, then you snagged one of the updated cages that fixed the partial blocking of the hot shoe issue.
Love My small rig cage. Bought my first one for my 6400 - with the wood grip on it. I also bought the wooden side handle as I prefer to carry the camera in my left hand and this is so comfortable and adjustable. Have just received a similar cage for my a7iv
Ah, nice! It definitely is a solid feel when carrying these cages with the handles. I thought the wooden handle might introduce some fatigue after a long time but it never happened which was a pleasant surprise.
Thank you for the review, Diana. I have to unfortunately return my Smallrig cage as for some reason it won't fit into the quick-release of my tripod without me attaching an extra plate. I'm sad about this, as I was hoping to like this cage. :(
You're very welcome @TedMattos That's a bummer! Are you trying to use the Arca Swiss plates or do you have something else you use for your quick release system?
Thanks so much for responding and taking the time to help! :) I believe the tripod I use has the Arca Swiss setup? For some reason the cage's bottom was too large. I've returned the cage and perhaps will try the Neewer one, as I do want to keep my new camera protected! :)
Another great video, thanks Diana. Smallrig cage for ZV-E10 and Ulanzi claw QR just dropped on my doorstep today. One note - if you use a neck strap, you will need a pair of needle nose pliers to draw the strap through the holes in the Smallrig. The strap holes are just a tiny bit smaller than the strap lugs on the camera. It's doable but you will have to finesse the strap through the holes. Regards, Joe Hewes
Thanks Joe! Great tip about the pliers! They are quite small but I usually don’t use a strap but I now see why so many like the peak design straps to help remove them quicker.
hi. i've been watching your zv e10 videos. but right now i only have the kit lens on. my question is: Is Sony 50mm f1.8 oss good enough especially for talking head? i prefer Sigma 30mm f1.8 but i can only find the sony 50mm oss in an actual store, while the sigma is only available from online. i'd rather personally test and buy the lens rather than risk buying from online. thanks.
There are a lot of really great lenses that simply will never be carried in most local camera shops because they will only carry what they regularly sell. Most local markets (camera stores) still cater to predominantly photographers. So, that's not uncommon. Because of the way focal lengths work on APS-C cameras, I actually wouldn't recommend the 50mm. I can appreciate wanting to try the lens first but with any online purchases you have 30 days to return it. I would highly recommend you purchasing what works best for you versus simply what's available at a local store with limited selection of the lenses best for content creation.
@@DianaGladney most welcome! I had ordered the Smallrig but had to return it because I had already gotten the wireless shotgun and lav set up. I did like your video.
Nice Review! Cool to hear your from the STL area as well, I'm just across the river! I'm just starting out on my RUclips journey making reviews but I am inspired by your videos!
I have that smallrig Cage on my zv-e10 and i love it! But recently i bought a godox v1 and it does not fit with the Cage , i always have to take it down when i use the flash.... Any solutions please?..
Yes! They actually took the feedback on the cage blocking the hot shoe and updated the cage. You can exchange your current model for the updated one if you're still within the return window; depending on where you bought it.
Great question but I’m not sure about that. I haven’t been able to test if it blocks it and by how much or if it’s okay. I’m betting it probably blocks it too much to be flush and keep a solid connection.
I have the cage for my Camera just getting Started and I appreciate the content helps me out alot... Could do more like this and the best set ups for Zv e10 for vlogs in your opinion..Thank you
I'm glad to hear the content has been super helpful for you here. I am batch recording videos these next few days and I can definitely do that for you! I will outline that for an upcoming video along some others of a similar nature!
@@DianaGladney Thank you i appreciate that i don't wanna spend on unnecessary things because it's not cheap..lol I have the Sigma 16..Gonna go for the Sony 10 18mm f4 next then the Tamron .. I use the ulanzi MT 47 tripod and the 46 has better quick removable head saw that afterwards. Well Thank you and i will be watching the videos.O yeah what about a used lens from B&H? Would that be a good move to save a few Bucks?
I totally understand that. My best advice to you is consider what you will be doing and what type of environments you’ll be in, then buy only what will be comfortable to carry around and use. As for lenses if you want to save some dollars it’s always great to buy used lenses because they’ll usually be in great condition and at a discounted price from new.
Yeah, the cage is dope! The cage with the grip is on their Amazon store but redirects to the one without. I don't know if they pulled it from Amazon temporarily or if they want those purchases coming from their site only but who knows. If you want the grip though you can probably just get that piece from their site. They usually allow the grips to be purchased separately for cages if you want to.
Hi Diana how did you do to put the led in the cage, i was looking for the LED light in the link you gave us but it doesnt include the hot shoe, where did you buythe hot shoe for the led light, sorry for my poor English, im venezuelan😢
No worries on your English, I understood you just fine. That’s a monitor mount with a cold shoe adapter. The specific one I use in the video isn’t available on Amazon anymore, but there are a lot of similar versions that do the same thing.
Ah gotcha, from the Sony A Mount. So in this case no. The camera doesn’t have any video or streaming capabilities nor does it have an HDMI or USB port to use for streaming.
This small rig cage has a major flaw, you are not able to use the hotshoe with the digital mic/s from sonly, its like smallrig said F-U sony its either our cage or your awsome mics without cables!! :D
Lol what camera cage protects the back of the camera? There are probably some generic third party brands that have a more cheese-plate style design style if you want more coverage but most cages are about the same. I think for most cage users it’s more about utility of adding more items than trying to protect a dropped camera which can break whether in or out of a cage.
@@DianaGladney Nice condescending laugh, thank you. If you look up the word ‘cage’ in the dictionary it refers to an ell-encompassing protective environment. This is not a cage, but an add-on accessory, and is therefore misleading and the product name should be changed to reflect that

Niceyrig makes an awesome cage for the Sony ZV E10 that DOESN'T cover up the hot shoe.
