1953 was Ford's 50th anniversary model year. That's what the center piece of the horn ring says.

Had a 53 Ford just like that one in 63 only 10 years old at the time it was a great 3 speed over drive I was home on leave in November 1963 getting the Ford ready for a paint job listening to the radio heard that our president was shoot in Dallas will never forget that day

I am just 3 years older than this Ford. I have always liked most cars from this time frame. If SSA sent me more money I would love to restore this '53 and drive it every day and wave to all that wave or honk as we go by. I hope you find somebody that will restore and show-off this great car, saving it from disintegrating.

Nice to see it come back to life. The motor when rebuilt is probably worth more than the car as there's always a demand for flatheads out there.
I like what appears to be a 1952-54 Nash you have there. Cool !
Back in 1964-65 our neighbor's son, then 17-18 had one of these Fords. After driving it for a year he left for the Army and sold it for $75 but I was too young for a license just yet. Dang !!

My neighbor had a 53 with the flat head V8 and 3 on the tree, pink with a white roof. He let it sit, outside, all winter long but come summer, he would put the battery back in, and fire it up. 1 fall, an ice storm brought a tree limb down on it; severely dented the roof, but broke no glass. It was a very neat car, sounded good with glasspacks. Oh yes, btw, the hub cap is from a 69 Plymouth Fury III or VIP. I had a green sedan, same 1's.

The hubcap is from a 1969 fury 3 like mine. We had a 1954 Ford when I was a kid. It ran great until my mom creamed the quarter panel! It had an “engine turned” dash and a Speedo with a little window on top to let in light in the day time. My Fury runs great also although the 318 has to work pretty hard to move such a heavy machine.

Thumbs up again for saving another green car. I like inline 6cyl. engines much more and was amazed that you own so many cars with that kind of engine, including the daily driver Frazer. Propably the rest of the world assumes that nearly all American automobiles run with a V8. Maybe because of the astonishing fact: Over 1 Billion !! engines have been produced to date!!
