@Gunbladewarrior They have the #1 recruiting class for 2026. I'm the first person to question whether Riley can get it done since I believe he's a glorified OC who doesn't understand complementary football. But in terms of a program, they're clearly investing to win and at most are a new coaching hire away from doing it. Getting ND off their schedule for the foreseeable future makes it more likely they can make a playoff run with a favorable conference schedule.
I guess you can hope LOL Big Ten has best coaching and QB play and its literally not even close right now. Ohio State has two former NFL head coaches as coordinators. We're not the same!!!!!
Best coaching??? Winning a Natty with the avg player age 25+ isn't coaching. Especially when you buy southern players and former southern Coaches. It's a about out bidding other teams. Do your research. The best players and and current coaches are either from the South or have grown from southern coaches
There are legitimate reasons to think that Indiana or Ohio State could take half a step back from last year but I really don't see how Oregon isn't better considering how young last years team was. Their O-line last year was good but not great and they dealt with a lot of injuries. I don't see them taking a significant step back there.
Even a B1G chaos situation helps the conference bottom line by ginning up interest in more Big Ten games. If the supposed top 4 teams are losing to 5 through 10 teams, that puts more schools in the mix for a playoff spot. That helps CBS and NBC who tend to get those second tier teams if they could be marketed as plausible dark horses that could get into the top 4. The SEC is going to 9 conference games this year. They are not getting 5 teams in the playoff this season
@qe3glazerHow? How about the smackdowns you guys always get from the Big? Last year was Tenn, this year was Bama. You guys haven’t won a natty in years.
Yeah the big 10 might have a pac 12 issue with 4-5 teams at a top tier lvl…cannibilizing itself…thanks for covering this… And no no confidence in Riley…but whittingham…watch out big 10
So? Since they've introduced a National championship game Ohio State is the only Big Ten program that has been consistently great the last 28 years. So they're always going to be mentioned first. Oregon has dumped a ton of money in their program, so it's not surprising they're mentioned.
19 consecutive years where the SEC leads the NFL in draft picks. Complete dominance. That’s longer than most people who watch the show have been alive!
Big ten is more chaotic than the sec yet pate acts like it isn’t, Georgia and bama have taken turns winning the sec for the last decade while the big ten has had multiple different teams win the big ten
no it’s the same teams at the top iu just made it in last year. the gap from the top and bottom of the big 10 is the largest out of any other conference
All that to say the worst case scenario in the B10, injuries, no progression from players coming back and still UGA is the only team that could challenge the top 3 in a down year. Problem is its not supposed to be a down year. Oregon should peak this season, Ohio State should peak this season. Still they will find a way to diminish 2 loss B10 teams and push for 2 loss bama,Vandy Tennessee ect to make the cfp.
Syracuse won a NC in 1959. Pretend we are in 1960 and the internet is a thing. "Syracuse is here to say and will be dominant for years to come" is being spewed all day every day on the internet and social media. That's Indiana right now. BTW...Syracuse hasn't won a NC since then...
I just threw up a bit in my mouth when you said Michigan is your big ten champ. That would be nightmare scenario as an Ohio State fan. Whittingham is a good coach, I just hope it takes a year or two to get Michigan back up.
@jeffreyross-zb8czif Underwood puts the puzzle together, I don't think they're a year away. Not sure if Michigan can win it all this year, but if they go 10-2 led by a vastly improved Underwood, it wouldn't shock me.
@MichaelBrown-ti1un People are really over estimating Michigans portal. It was quite low quality for Michigan. 18 players in at an average grade of 68. Some other teams. IU, 17 players in at a grade of 77. Oregon, 16 players at 73. OSU, 17 players at 73. USC, 9 players at 75. Penn State, 38 players at 71. That doesn’t cover the 26 players that left Michigan with a grade of 71. 🤷♂️ Anything could happen, but think there will be more struggles that expected.
Big 10 teams in their down year will still beat the sec best and the sec best will be mid. Teams like Illinois will beat them Sec's psyop money is showing through the media🙄
Illinois isn’t gonna beat Tennessee at night on the road. Nor would they beat Ole Miss on the road or Oklahoma. Those 3 teams are not the elite of the SEC but strong mid tier. So your argument I don’t actually agree with
@lamontmorgan99you can argue that but iowa beat Vanderbilt by 7 and Illinois lost to iowa by 2 in a close game. Mind you Vanderbilt beat Tennessee. So it would be a close game. And the Oklahoma vs Tennessee game was close
Wow. You're really down on Penn State. Weak schedule. If those Iowa State guys can make the jump to the Big Ten, 9-3 or 10-2 aren'tout of the question this year for Penn State.
I wouldn't put USC over Illinois or Washington until they can prove it on the field. Every year that paper tiger gets rocked by a team that they shouldn't lose to that runs the ball all over them.
@johnkassel318 They did have a really good season. Could have been a special one with a win over Oregon, IU, USC. Problem is they are 104th in returning production and the portal class wasn’t good quality. Recruiting was actually really good for Iowa. So they are gonna have to rely on a lot of freshman. I see Iowa as a trendy pick to crash the playoff. But that seems a misread with the schedule and data. Doubt they can go 10-2. They’re always quality so 8 wins looks reasonable. Illinois, Nebraska, Washington were trendy picks last year to crash the playoff. Nothing panned out.
you can hope all you want and down play the other conferences all you want but the sec will fail again in 2026 and again in 2027 and then become obsolete when they finnaly run away because they cannot contend with real teams...
What down year? 🤣 😂 Oregon. USC. Michigan. Penn State. Washington are all in the top 20 in returning production. Ohio state is 31. IU is 52. IU had an elite portal. Ohio state in 2025 was something around 90th in returning production and still elite.
Now I know where the SEC chanters get the hypotheticals ,no wonder you are only commissioner of Pate State .. 😂 Here's something you can Bookmark hallf your SEC teams will have another loss , and that's a fact not a hypothetical
Indiana has the most to prove. They lose their star QB and literally has never truly been in this scenario where they have to rebuild from a previous monster season. OSU has the hardest path but most likely to succeed based on historical success as precedent. Oregon I think is about to be a serious problem for anyone this year though.
I'm an Oregon fan but I have to admit I am probably more fascinated to see what Indiana does this year, I don't think there has ever been a football program in the position they are in this year. I honestly think this will show if Kurt Cignetti is really legendary coach material or not. It will show if they were a flash in the pan or if he has staying power. I like him a ton and I hope he does, but this is the year that will prove it.
@Stringerbell5 lmao, I can tell you are a new cfb fan. Oregon has won plenty of things. Just not a national championship. And there’s more to college football than the national championship.
Covid players still in college ball 16 years after their freshman year will run out at some point. Celebrating 28 year old avg team winning a college game is sad when the avg NFL team age is 25. College ball is a mess right now. This is like celebrating your reck league team winning because it's made up of high school seniors. I'm so tired of 48th year in college grown adult still playing because he can't make the next level. 5 years max and you're done. No more extensions or waivers.
I don't see how Oregon doesn't go 16-0 this year. Ohio State in the Shoe is the real test but outside of that I think Oregon has the best roster in the country and if they can't win it with all that talent that came back - they are cursed.
16-0 would be very unlikely. Agree about the talent on the field, though. This will be Oregons most talented team by far at this point. Would be nice to see them make the jump.
Yeah not a duck fan but they've been knocking on the door consistently the past three years, I think they break through within the next 1 to 5 years and capture that elusive first natty. The last three years Oregon has only lost to teams that either make it to the natty game or win the natty. 2023- Lost twice to Washington. Washington made it to the natty but lost to Michigan 2024- Lost to Ohio State in the CFP, who they beat in the regular season. Ohio State goes on to win the natty 2025- Lost twice to Indiana. Indiana goes on to win the natty My point is Oregon only losses to teams that are at the top of the sport. If its a numbers game odds are they'll break through real soon.
So you value top end talent and peak over depth of conference. Thats fine just keep that energy if things change. I personally value depth more so i would say the SEC is the best conference, but i would also say that the big 10 has better top end teams as of the last 5 years and probably next year.
@PhilipZQuinn yeah top end the top 2 big 10 teams are better and that’s what dictates championships nowadays. SEC hasn’t played in a CFP national championship game since Georgia beat TCU 4 seasons ago (4 team playoff).
4:33 hahahaha....nope. USC is for the curbs....they are getting stomped again this year. When you have high school freshman coming in and competing for starting spots you know they are a dismal program. How can you have that scenario in year 5? I think the big surprise will be Michigan and Penn State. They will compete with Oregon and Ohio State for the top spots. Kyle W had both Oregon's and USC number at Utah and now he has a Michigan squad? Yeah, he can ball. Michigan will be much better. Kyle W is worth 2 and a half Lincoln Riley's. I think you will have a better, more competitive BIG10 this year.
@Sam-q7j4g You obviously don't know football. It doesn't matter if they were all 5 star. Freshman coming in and taking starting spots means your team is trash.
Just gotta say tht Oregon may win some games this season, but there is zero chance to win a championship. They are an unserious program with a legacy of failure
As an SEC fan, I think even a Big 10 Chaos scenario, they’d still have a team in the Natty. They operate NFL type structures
Alum '97 + I Spit Coffee Out 😂 We are a Year Away, Go Get'm OSU 💪
That's real. The top of the B1G (OSU, UM, OR, IN, USC, and PSU) are going to be tough outs in the playoffs as long as the coaching stays strong.
Or a G5 school and an ACC team
@heartbreak25did you just sneak USC in there?
@Gunbladewarrior They have the #1 recruiting class for 2026. I do not recall a single video of this type regarding the SEC when they were dominant.
HOO HOO HOO HOOSIERS!!! ⚪️🔴
I guess you can hope LOL Big Ten has best coaching and QB play and its literally not even close right now. Ohio State has two former NFL head coaches as coordinators. We're not the same!!!!!
That’s insane!
Best coaching???
Winning a Natty with the avg player age 25+ isn't coaching. Especially when you buy southern players and former southern Coaches.
It's a about out bidding other teams.
Do your research.
The best players and and current coaches are either from the South or have grown from southern coaches
I don't know why I like your show, but what you are doing is a bit different than the others. I just like it!
Crazy talk. Go Bucks!
I’ll have my picks every week, I pick them just like Pate.
As a USC fan I'll believe it when I see it done on the field.
You are a rare breed of USC fan. Your boys at the University of Spoiled Children are wildin out here 😂
There are legitimate reasons to think that Indiana or Ohio State could take half a step back from last year but I really don't see how Oregon isn't better considering how young last years team was. that could get into the top 4.
The SEC is going to 9 conference games this year.
They are not getting 5 teams in the playoff this season
If my uncle had boobs, he'd be my aunt. These doomsday scenarios are hilarious. USC will not be playing for a conference or national championship.
Agreed, first they weren't that good last year. Second adding a bunch of talented Freshmen is not a recipe for consistent success.
The Big Ten owns the SEC
How?
@qe3glazerHow? How about the smackdowns you guys always get from the Big? Last year was Tenn, this year was Bama. You guys haven’t won a natty in years.
Always? And 3 years is a blip compared to utter domination over the past 25 years. Let’s wait a little longer before we talk about who “owns” who
Is that why the sec has a 83-57 record vs the BIG10?
@BryanWood10is that why the Big Ten has won 3 straight natties while the SEC hasn’t even made the championship in that timeframe?
If Julian Sayin doesn't figure it out this will just be the case. I don't think OSU needs as good a defense as last year. Their defense will be fine.
Michigan and USC are going to challenge this year!
For 4th place? Sure
Yeah the big 10 might have a pac 12 issue with 4-5 teams at a top tier lvl…cannibilizing itself…thanks for covering this…
And no no confidence in Riley…but whittingham…watch out big 10
Indiana is always the 3rd team to be mentioned in the big 10 pecking order. If I were Indiana I would use that as material.
I am an IU fan. I love that they underated us. This year especially, humble and hungry.
if YOU THINK THATS AN EDGE YOU ARE JUST STUPID
So? Since they've introduced a National championship game Ohio State is the only Big Ten program that has been consistently great the last 28 years. So they're always going to be mentioned first.
Oregon has dumped a ton of money in their program, so it's not surprising they're mentioned.
@robschaller9061 sure. Says Mr. CAPSLOCK in YT comments. Lmao
We are!
SEC homer pater …. Sit and spin for the SEC !
Big Ten has the best QB play in the country right now. I think they'll get 4 teams in the CFP.
🦆
Down year? Maybe. Still better than the SEC? Definitely.
19 consecutive years where the SEC leads the NFL in draft picks. Complete dominance. That’s longer than most people who watch the show have been alive!
Why dont u make a segment about the top 3 SEC teams underperforming? Georgia Texas and LSU. That way more likely than Big10
Big ten is more chaotic than the sec yet pate acts like it isn’t, Georgia and bama have taken turns winning the sec for the last decade while the big ten has had multiple different teams win the big ten
He’s an SEC homer.
no it’s the same teams at the top iu just made it in last year. the gap from the top and bottom of the big 10 is the largest out of any other conference
No. Def no. More teams are in an upswing than down. OSU might take a step back but no the conf won't be down
You wish. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 You are often wrong but never in doubt.
All that to say the worst case scenario in the B10, injuries, no progression from players coming back and still UGA is the only team that could challenge the top 3 in a down year. Don't care how about the rest of the Big Ten. Just want Ohio State to be good. Save that conference thumping crap for the SEC
💯
SEC lives rent free in this comment section

Iowa at 9? They were only a few plays off of being a one loss team last year. They might be really good this season.
Normal big ten pyramid: Ohio state
Michigan
Pennsylvania State

Pyramid now: OSU, Oregon, Indiana…everyone else

Pate too early...you mention " let's say" "lets say"......lets just say forsake😊
Pate loves doing mental gymnastics to affirm his identity as a delusional SEC homer. Speak your truth Josh ❤❤
Let's say the big ten wins another natty and is still the Sec' s daddy😂😂😂😂
Spank that SEC arse…🤣
Why is the SEC so rent free in every B10 fans head?
Because we are tired of all the media bias year in and out.
Krispy Kreme called, your putting to much glaze on the SEC 😊
What down year?
🤣 😂
Oregon. USC. Michigan. Penn State. Washington are all in the top 20 in returning production.
Ohio state is 31. IU is 52. IU had an elite portal. Ohio state in 2025 was something around 90th in returning production and still elite.
Ohio State and Michigan still matter. Not playing either one gets you to Indy or you should be fired.
Now I know where the SEC chanters get the hypotheticals ,no wonder you are only commissioner of Pate State .. 😂

Ohio st bought they championship Michigan cheated for theres and indiana had a bunch of old players but won fair
I think Josh hoover is gonna be a bust at Indiana. He's a turnover machine
Seeing clips from spring ball - it does feel like a different Michigan team.
i dont care if the big10 keeps winning championships as long as bama is nowhere near the title game 👍🏼

@dustinbrant8772. He’s just a hater

Oh ya. The big 10 even has more teams😂
@briandonohue513518 national championships in the last 30 years. B10 only has 6. That’s triple. Numbers don’t lie
@ijfybisgff1hang the banner
lol USC may never win a big 10 championship
You probably thought Indiana couldn’t win 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@tommyjones774yes but nothing is changing for USC.. coaching is a big problem for them.
Big 10 is the best conference, and will continue to be so in the near future
So you value top end talent and peak over depth of conference. Thats fine just keep that energy if things change. I personally value depth more so i would say the SEC is the best conference, but i would also say that the big 10 has better top end teams as of the last 5 years and probably next year.
@PhilipZQuinn yeah top end the top 2 big 10 teams are better and that’s what dictates championships nowadays. SEC hasn’t played in a CFP national championship game since Georgia beat TCU 4 seasons ago (4 team playoff).
@PhilipZQuinnexcept we dominated the sec In bowls the last few years. B10 is better top and better middle SEC has the higher floor and brand
4:33 hahahaha....nope. USC is for the curbs....they are getting stomped again this year. When you have high school freshman coming in and competing for starting spots you know they are a dismal program. How can you have that scenario in year 5?
