I really enjoy watching your structured videos.i love how you manage your plant collection. The way of optimising the grows over horting and collecting more and more plants you are loosing controll over , is so satisfying. I find the plant world becomes more and more like fast fashion industry only with higher prices.
thanks! I think I really got the hang of that in this last year and really am trying to focus more on the plants I have than adding new ones in all the time!
Thanks for the long video. It was wonderful to have you as "company" for me during my post holiday trip plant chores. I hope Joe feels better, but I love how real life you are having to hang in the bedroom...I spend several hours a week like a cat burglar creeping around my house on early AM plant chores while trying not to wake up the sleeping family. ❤ 🌿
1:47:31 when I come upon a plant like the pellionia potted in a substrate like that, I feel there are only a few options to remove it safely. 1. You could just keep soaking the root ball until the soil loosens off OR 2. Just take cuttings down to the soil to prop and start fresh in water/pon. I feel option two is the best because you’ll save the reporting issues, root transition period and you’ll get new growth on the soil plant if you wanted to keep it.
You should def throw more long form videos like this on your channel! I love how free and relaxed they are, as opposed to a more scripted, formal informational or educational one. Don’t get me wrong, those are great and are very much necessary and appreciated, especially for newer plant parents. I watch both!! But it’s nice to in a more informal, chores and chat type video ❤ 48:48 I def don’t think it’s root mealies. I once got a zz from a big box store and it was full of mold like that from what I believe was soggy soil!
oooooh that would totally make sense!! It wasn't growing any mushrooms though so idk!! It's done now anyways but maybe next timeI see something like that I won't be as grossed out! Thanks!
Hey Emma! Just a heads up that Kaylee Ellen has lost her plant shop but still has her Nurture System going, anyone who can purchase her plant Nurture System would be greatly appreciated by her I’m sure! Thanks for your long video today and I hope Joe feels better soon! Lots of love ❤️ Ginger
I would highly recommend an EC meter to keep an accurate measure of your feed, I'm only using 6 x 5ml pipette per 5 litres of water, you definitely don't need the amount you're using. Love your content as always 🔥
I definitely enjoy long videos. I can do plant stuff while I listen to you 😊 repotting is my favorite thing to watch. I separated and repotted my hosta yesterday. It's been living outside but now I am going to try it inside
I’ve been thinking about a plant shelf over my bed but wasn’t sure if it would look right. After seeing yours I’m definitely doing it. It looks beautiful over your bed. Loving your plants.
52:37 how do your plants not go into shock and drop leaves after you completely mess the root system like that?? every time I try to change my plants into a new substrate, I feel like it goes back to a stump and then I have to restart it. Any input would be highly appreciated.❤❤
sometimes they do go into a bit of shock after something more traumatising like that but I am doing my best to be EXTREMELY gentle & not break the roots if possible. And I only rinse with lukewarm water to not further shock things
Great Video, like the long chores video's... in case of the furtilizer. I use formulex as well... there's a very easy way to measure the amount of furtilizer... so you're always sure of the amount of liquid you use... If you take a syringe or that thing you measure your liquid in... take 10ml out of the Formulex container and put it in the containers cap... there are lines in it... so you can see how much 10 ml is in the cap of the formulex container. If you do this once, you never have to measure again cause you know how much 10ml is because of the lines in the cap Fill the cap twice and done. And the cap you always have it with you because it's on your furtilizer container... So you never have to doubt anymore if you used to much or to less furtilizer. So easy... That's a beautiful dracena... Al my dracena's are in leca and they are doing great!!!. Take care and keep save😜😁
oh well isn't that smart!! Thanks for such a great tip!! Also glad to hear your dracaenas are doing well in leca! I'm defo always tempted to switch mine to semi-hydro
Emma! You can have my black velvet - I’d totally gift it to you. It’s super healthy (6 healthy leaves) and it lives it’s best life in pon. But I realized I’m not enjoying it as much as my other alocasias so I’d like to find it a new home to downsize to the plants I enjoy the most. But… I live in the Netherlands 😅
ahhh that's so sweet of you! But I think it might be an issue to send plants between EU & UK! I'm sure you'll be able to find someone else who would love it near you though!!
@@GoodGrowing Indeed, it might be a pain to send it to UK, so hopefully someone will want it over here more than I do :) Happy new year and wish you lots of success with your plant goals in 2025!
I hate the soil that they use in nursery and garden centres. Is just peat moss and feels solid or completely wet and no aeration. So i tend to change out the substrates after a day or two after being quarantined and spray down. I use cacti and succulent soil for all my plants and mix with bark and perlite and charcoal. Charcoal really has alot of benefits. Also i like using clear nursery pots now to see what is happening. The non see through ones if there still good conditions i wash them and use them for giving plants to people in.
Im thinking the white mold on the peperomia is a common problem. 1 month ago i totally freaked out, because i was thinking mine had mealy bugs to. Repotted it and than couldnt find any mealy in the soil
On the topic of the mold inside your peperomia, I used to watch a bonsai channel many years ago and when he was repotting, there was often this white mold inside the pot. The guy said it was beneficial and made sure to incorporate some of it into the new pot when he replanted. I’m guessing it was some sort of micorrhisae? I don’t know if it’s what you have though
That sarcophylla looks more like mycelium of some kind ( mould or other mushroom) not necessarily bad for the plant in nature but maybe not in the pot :-)
Loving the long content!! Nurture system is THE fertiliser for my anthuriums so I strictly use it for them. The size up of leaves is chefskiss!! Doesn’t look like root mealies since rootmealies will go to every other plant beside the sarcophylla.
Hay QQ - do you or have you ever reused old soil or spagnum? I once baked a load of old soil in medium heat for 30 minutes. I freshened it with a little new soil and added myco and worm poop (forgot what that's called), however, I found it a faff. Not sure of it's something you'd do or consider? Also a separate question on your Peperomia Sacrophylla - my leaves have become curly, could that be calcium deficiency? Only on new leaves. Interesting in your thoughts.
Tbh I don't typically reuse old soil. If I'm just repotting a plant up a size though, I don't get rid of the stuff around the roots, just add more in a bigger pot. Hmm I'll have to look into the sarcophylla question. I've had some curly new leaves as well when it does occasionally grow them 🙃 I thought it was something I was doing wrong though
The Nurture System stuff I have found is really good, you can also mix the others in the range together. I highly recommend using Nurture System 1 in conjunction with 2 or 3 (I use 1&3 and water everything with that. It’s even really good for rehabbing plants! 💚
I got so much stuff done while watching this! Thanks Emma!

Naw thanks! I like having such freedom as well! I'll have to make more like this next year! 🥰
The white stuff in your P. Sarchophylla looked like some kind of mycelium - just like the network of mycelium you had in your mushroom growing kit ⁉️
I agree. And it's a good thing.
oooooh that would totally make sense!! It wasn't growing any mushrooms though so idk!! It's done now anyways but maybe next timeI see something like that I won't be as grossed out! Thanks!
Your peperomia's roots are transforming into a camembert ! 🧀 🤣🤣
Love your super long vidéos ! 💚
SUNSPOT HAPPY HOLIDAYS SOULFUL ESCAPE!

She had such a heart breaking video. I hope she can reach her dreams and keep them
Yes! Me too

Ooh can you tell me more about EC metres please? They sound interesting

Everytime you show that sarcophyllla I cry😢. I can't find one in my area in the States. So pretty! ❤

Great video Emma, I enjoy the long, chatty and honest approach you take. I also really like the Nurture System feed (so do all my plants!) 😊

Hey Emma love ❤️ your channel. If you have any mistletoe cactus cuttings left. I would love it. If not it’s okay
aww thanks! Like I said, I binned those but happy to send you some come spring if you remind me!

I've not tried the others in the range but I defo want to soon! Once I finish my big formulex I'll try out some others!
Merry Christmas Emma! This exactly what I needed today on Boxing Day!💚💚💚🌿🌱🪴
