Thank you for making this content! As a Brit living in Beijing for the past 8 years, I totally agree with your reasons for making this. I see how media and people who have never visited China have a one-sided, warped view of the country. Back home in the UK or even the US, we quickly separate ourselves from our governments, (not my president! Boris is a knob etc.) but for some reason, the same doesn't always apply to how some people view China. This has particularly become more prevalent since COVID-19. I follow the BBC News on Instagram and any new story they shared about China received so many hateful comments, it's so frustrating and upsetting. I love this episode and love seeing rural China. Thanks so much and looking forward to seeing more!

This is so great. I love this kind of video very much. When I was young I liked to watch TV programs regarding the Chinese ethnic minorities. I like their cultures and lifestyles. When I have free time in the future, I would like to visit these places in person. I hope these cultures can be remained and not be ruined by the modernization at that moment.

Great video, William! I think you should make more content like this. People in the West tend to have a very limited understanding of China and its culture(s). I think you could make a whole new series out of exploring the lifestyle of China's ethnic minorities (although it would be very difficult to cover them all); it would likely appeal to a broader audience than your usual news-related videos. I'm sure you know that huge amounts of people around the world have developed misconceptions about life in Xinjiang, especially since 2019. You don't need to go too deep into the political controversies surrounding the way in which Xinjiang is governed, but perhaps you should consider making a segment about the historical issue of terrorism in Xinjiang if you decide to make a series documenting Xinjiang culture. You've lived there before, no? I think this is a topic that would suit you well =) . There's actually a somewhat prominent Uyghur RUclipsr in Xinjiang by the name of 安妮古丽，her channel basically talks about her life as a Uyghur in Xinjiang (her content is all in Mandarin). I think it'd be really cool if you did a collab video with her to discuss the cultural diversity that exists there. Also, since you're traveling with Russian friends, you could make some really eye-catching content if you interview an ethnically Russian Chinese person in the northeast. These are just a few of my personal suggestions. I'll be looking forward to your next upload! 加油吧，兄弟！
Man, this series is AWESOME! i really hope more people can appreciate this series and the stuff you guys do. For a chinese boy raised in germany i once found my thoughts clouded with anti chinese opinions but that is until i traveled there myseld and experienced chinese culture and actually lived for a time with them there. And watching you guys do this stuff really makes me wanna go back to china again. I recently found out that my ancestors in Chaozhou could’ve been migrants from a She autonomous region cause my Chinese surname is actually Lan 藍. I’d also been asked alot recently if I was genetically from outside China since I do look a little distinct from the Han people, so I do believe the possibility that I am kind of an ethnic She.
These guys are talking about the SHE people 畲族，畲瑶本来就是一家 and probably looking for 畲药---a traditional local medicine。There is a small group left around my area. They either live in the mountains or, in the old times, few of them lived on boat houses, too remote, I never got that luck to see one LOL🌞🤣🌞. It was believed they used to vastly populated everywhere in the south, but then since those "assholes" northern and "central lands" Hans, LOL, either as conquerors or got troubled or defeated by nomadic tribes and started immigrating into the south in the ancient times, these people's dwelling area and population had shrunk. They were forced to retreat to even remoter area even overseas or mix with the northern assholes LOL. And I highly suspect I belong to one of those many descendants with these mixed genes like a lot of Southerners do🌞🤣🌞 LOL, which was too remote both in time and space and now is simply identified as Han. You can see there are differences between northern and southern Chinese people even though it is getting more and more blurred nowadays. 🌞🌺💐🌸😊👍😊🌸💐🌺🌞 Thanks for the hard work. By the way, I found it a little bit "amusing" to find the picture on the wall too, even though I was a fan of Peng 🌸🌸first and now both of them. No wonder I could not even see any record of Xi's first short lived failed marriage LOL on Chinese search engine. MAN, it's all about Chinese Reality Adapted Political Philosophy LOL🌞🤣🌞. Waiting for the next videos ^^ I know about 'The Woman Kingdom' ethnic minority in China, is it the same one with SHE people? In my country, we put picture of every President and Vice President (that is in power at that time) in most schools and most government related building. Whether we want to put them in our house, it's up to us though most don't do that.
I am Hakka people in chinese and I heard people said some of She people are converting into Hakka, since both san-ha and hakka have the same meaning. She people have their own language but nowadays they prefer to say Hakka language.

Again, the corrupted part of media other than entertaining is whatever it is nowadays. In speaking of Covid-19, China has, without a doubt, fought the most brilliant battle against the virus at a larger scale so far, together with some other relatively smaller countries in scale like Japan, Germany ( outstanding among the rest of the hard hit European countries), the list goes on...
Now, while the whole world was working like a dog 🐕 fighting the virus, there was this "Focking"(please excuse me for my lousy English I don't know how to spell that F word correctly) voice from the Fox 🦊 News asking China to apologize,,,,,,Come On, MAN, I used to think probably that Fox 🦊 is deemed relatively more on the conservative side and thus might have tight lips and if unnecessarily more truth coming at least less "polluting" into the public environment...
Apologize??? Apologize for what??? Apologize for not being able to provide anchors who could speak English and spread positive energy for your channels??? Who had educated such a "failure looser voice" and furthermore, if that was a failure and he couldn't help himself who had allowed such a looser 🦊 on stage on air? (Man, why this looks much more like a spy from the fox's 🦊 competitor Acting or, the fox 🦊 unbelievably, was trying to doom itself? Have I watched too much TV and movies or what???LOL🤣)

Just to clarify, there's nothing personal on that fox 🦊 anchor specifically even though I had referred it as "Focking Voice". If it wasn't him there would be someone else anyway, let alone they sometimes or most of the time just read transcripts that are prepared for them to read out loud anyway. If there's any personal message, that would be, if you want to be an upright anchor go visit and live in as many cultures as possible like Fulinfang does, LOL, 🌞🤣🌞, but then I think to myself, if you really go visit and live long enough in different cultures you might not want to be that anchor anymore, so what's the point 🌞🤣🌞. Just don't bother, period. We are happy we have Fulinfang already anyway even though this world obviously needs as more FulinfangS as we can get🌞👍👍🤣👍👍🌞
There's a REAL message on the already chaotic corrupted part of media. Some Chinese government officials are still so KIND and "responsive" or naive enough to react officially. Just like dogs' barking, we let them bark at each other, we humans don't bother to participate directly but just don't forget we got speakers. If foxes are Focking, hey, even dogs don't bother...let alone speakers, let alone humans. It is not just because We humans have way too much decency and dignity to bother with that, but we have more priorities, (like, have any of us seen any lion 🦁 or tiger 🐅 or bear 🐻 or crocodile or Python bother with any fox 🦊's Focking, not that I know of, ) We can't afford the time wasted as the foxes craving and scheming for...LOL🌞🤣🌞(Hyenas have similar behaviors too. Now, I'm a human living in a second culture different from the one I was born into and raised in, like Fulinfang. I believe we humans are ONE, the ONE who is living in many different ways. We are almost all from a limited single one way, is it safe to say maybe half blind in some sense? That's why we need each other, we need to learn from each other and appreciate each other. Together we will live up to and present the great world, the universe, which nourishes us as a human race with full capacity, generosity, plenty, decency and dignity, a wholesome ONE, a healthy happy positive ourself.🌞😊🌞

Anyway I DID spend sometime wondering and pondering, soaking my thoughts among different cultures between the West and the East. I am Hakka people in chinese and I heard people said some of She people are converting into Hakka, since both san-ha and hakka have the same meaning. She people have their own language but nowadays they prefer to say Hakka language.
