Getting up: tagging or catching as many spots as possible, in one night/day, usually in high visibility areas or heavily trafficked areas, within a single city.
Landmarks: a tag that has stood the test of time and has been rockin for years, or decades, and hasn't been touched since (buffed, capped, slashed, etc).

Many of his throwys and pieces remaremai n even today. Some laughed at his style, but most were met with, but woulc you go up there? Exactly. Its weird, now thinking, Poor guy prob fell off a roof
Why is it that some names are kind of made into a verb? Like Monk turns to Monker, Delt to Delter, Grim to Grimmer. Also a lot of people add 1 or One after the name as well.
Just to make the name longer to take up more space. There was a trend of adding "ism" to the end of names for the same reason. Ppl add one to the end of names bc it's just a popular graffiti thing to do. But it originates from old graffiti writers in New York.. I'm just making up an example but back in the day this see a name like blaze 324. 324 was the street that his crew originated from. 324 would be the crew pretty much. Adding one was just a play off of that. And when having crew names became a thing ppl added one as like paying homage to that old cultural aspect. Nowadays it's just done bc they've seen other writers do it.
In Cali when someone adds 1 or one to a name usually a gang name its when there is more than 1 person in the gang with that name such as in the movie "Next Friday" where there is a "Joker" "Little Joker" and "Baby Joker" 😆😆😆 so og "Joker" would be "Joker 1"
its cool fools think graff is all hip hop, but i can say from experience that the 80s and 90s generation had alot of skaters into metal, industrial, punk and sadly techno. As many of us love oldies and underground rap, there is as many who were into Rage, Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Cannibal Corpse who pieced and wouldnt even entertain tag bangers.
Graffiti is a hip hop culture. But like many elements of black American culture, it becomes popular with other groups of poor and disenfranchised ppl.. and also just to groups of edgy rebellious ppl as well. If I'm being honest nowadays graffiti is lost from black ppl and it's other races holding it down. So I see it being a hip hop culture that's on the back of other cultures.

Am I a toy if I don’t plan on doing actual graffiti but want to learn the culture and add aspects of into my art? Tbh I could see myself making little pictures as graffiti, the urge is there, but I don’t plan on it, just really like the movement and gritty edge to it.
Essentially, yes.
Graffiti writers don't respect ppl who bite the art style and have never done it for real.
If you live in a place with active writers. If you were to do a mural with graffiti inspiration and writers knew you never actually got up they would go over your mural.
