Yeah but not all businesses are the same!! And in some businesses people...i.e. customers are stupid at times!! I was working as a contractor and people honestly think Home Depot and Lowe's gives contractors a "special price" which they don't!! And trust me other folks think lumber is cheap, until you hit them with a material cost and they FREAK that their $800 (according to them customers) deck is now a $8000 deck!! Sure wood grows on trees, but not when you have to pay to buy it!!! And pressure treated decking and posts get expensive when the idiot customer wants a 24 by 60 foot deck and thinks you can buy material for just $600 which you can't!! In the end I have had a lot of jobs fall through just because people think I am trying to steal money from them for the cost of the lumber. And not everybody is so stupid, BUT I have had people ask me "Can you remodel and rebuild my whole kitchen for $500 and make it look like we spent $15,000 on it?" The only DAMN WAY you are going to get a "$15,000 Kitchen" is to actually SPEND the $15,000 to start with!!! And then people think my time is cheap!! I have had a lot of people complain about my labor costs when I was only charging $10 an hour, you really want to freak people out, hit them with a $15 an hour labor charge for a "three day project" and it adds up quickly!! In one bid I put in the family wanted a 20 foot by 50 foot deck on the side of their home AND a 12 by 20 foot shed that was stick built, and they about crapped themselves at my $12,000 quote, and I was undercutting my labor by so much I was almost paying THEM to work on their project!! I never knew what they finally did, but I have drove by the house and see they still do not have the shed or deck that they wanted!!!!
Love this video. It's amazing how these issues run across the industry, no matter where the business is located. I've been in the business over 20 years and when you first get going you really have to learn by taking your lumps. She is letting everyone know the issues before you even get going!

This is one of you best informative video yet, I started T Shirts a little over 5 years ago first sublimation on light shirts due to the fact any exact computer image can be printed on light T's but could not be printed on dark T with the same out standing results then I added Screen Printing and love those results, also the potential is there if you work at it, for me it is more of fun profitable hobby, but keep up the good work Tshirt Chick
My dear, I have been in product & business development in several industries for 35 years. You have offered here some of the BEST advice I have ever heard. And yes, I've heard much of it before.... BUT IT'S ALL FACTUALLY TRUE! Every suggestion you made is SPOT ON and applicable to other businesses & industries. Thank You! You made my day, and I would consider you #1, and a GREAT reason for me to visit Louisiana!

Great timing for me to see this. We are trying to start a similar business but we're hesitant. This was a well thought out and helpful video from somebody that has obviously experienced each thing she gives advice for. Thank you.
Thank you. This is clear, concise, and should be at the top of every recommended list. I appreciate how you give examples and show off your shop and set-ups.
This video is one of your older ones, but it really was helpful. I am a new subscriber, but I am just addicted to your energy and just love your videos. I pray that God continues to show you favor and that your business continues to prosper!
Nice, that was awesome advice. I have this enormous drive and want to start screen printing, these pointers help out because i have no clue where to start.
Depending on if you want to start with HTV or Screen printing I have playlists for both explaining everything you need and step by step videos of how to do both on my page.
starting to do Tshirts now with just a vinyl cutter and heat press, already getting orders and moving along, this video was extremely well done and informative, actually i will watch it again later with my daughter, she needs to learn Rule #1 lol ... gonna tag along and follow from sunny St Augustine Florida ...
I’m just now about to start with this t shirt stuff I been procrastinating for years but I’ve made up my mind to do it, this info from you is extremely helpful a lot of the things you spoke about had not even crossed my mind appreciate you keep doing yo thang I’ll be watching.
helps a lot and good info, already put in about $600 in my shopify, web design professional design, photoshop imagery/ banners, custom encoding, etc. currently gonna manage everything on my own and im currently working on shirt designs (japanese/korean streetwear themed) for my apparel line and planning to open up soon and also im planning to do custom print making locally for a side job rather than my own apparel. your info has become crucial to me and expecting huge success from already having a audience to cater to.
This video was extremely helpful I’m just starting off actually waiting on my equipment to be delivered!! You have soooo many different types of equipment in this video I’ve never seen before but like you said I’ll start small with my heat press & vinyl cutter & I hope to get where you are in due time 🙌🏾
I have been printing off and on for 35 years or so. These points are valid no matter how long you are in business. I have taken orders with and without deposits & thankfully been burned only a few times. I am a trusting guy that you will pay for the custom shirts that you order.i also agree on the vinyl vs. Ink idea for small quantity orders. I can knock out an order with vinyl much faster than with ink and cleanup is much better. The worst part about using vinyl is when the customer doesn't follow instructions or pass the instructions of proper care to whomever, and the "print" gets ruined. On the rare occasion I have not taken a deposit and gotten burned they were small orders. They make great work or play shirts for kids.
Your videos are clear and educating. I am kind of picking interest in T-Shirt Printing. But I think there are much more to it than what you have on your videos. How do I learn in details how to start up?
wooooooow this is the best information i have ever heard on a t shirt printing business. you Ms Chick have got the game and gone thanks you so much for all your videos. i just subscribed and looking forward to seeing you more thanks again.
Great advise. I have been very careful starting out my new t-shirt business. I take pride in what I print and bring forward to customers. I have been doing OK but mostly because of my partner who does the actual selling of the t-shirts and products I am able to produce. Also I have people on yourtube like YOU! who has help me with your tutorials. I thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.

Wonderful advice for a start up and also would be beneficial for folks that have had their business for a while as a refresher for them. Great job, thank you👏, you did an awesome job on this video.

Thank you so Much! I’m just starting out using a cameo 3 but also have screen painting boards that I haven’t tried yet. I was wondering how to duplicate designs so they look exactly the same. Your videos has very good information. I want to learn more about screen printing and your very informative. Thank you.
If you are screen printing you are using a stencil so they should look the same unless something goes wrong. If you are using a vinyl cutter just save the design and each time you open it you should get the same result if you cut it out without changing anything.
I wish I would have seen this video before I started a lot of these tips I had to learn along the way and for the deposit I also ask for half. I got burnt too before LOL.
I saw so many videos , about t shirt printing, but let me tell you you are the best and most intelligent business inclined woman, wonderful and informative video keep it up and you have one more subscriber on me, thanks for sharing your experience
Your videos are great. They are straight to the point with no fluff, especially this one. You give real explanations that I can keep up with. I really love the way you keep it simple, stick to the facts, and you don't seem to make judgements. I've been making t-shirts for awhile as a hobby, but I've just started making them to sell. I've learned more from 3 of your videos than I have from all of the other instructional videos I've watched over 3 years combined.
I started my t-shirt business about 2 months ago. You were the reason I turned my hobby into a business. I've been using my cricut making for my vinyl designs and it was nice in the beginning but now I feel i need to move from the cricut and on to a better vinyl cutter. Also what printer would you recommend for doing R.I.P hoodies? Right now I use an epson 7100 which gives me an 8x11 image but it looks kinda small when pressed on a hoodie or shirt. I need answers lol and I where I live not to many people like to help each other lol
The transfers printed with regular inkjet printers will eventually wash out so I don't like to print them for my customers but some of them insist on them for things like that and they know they are not going to last for too many washes. Printable HTV or sublimation would be best for things like that so it will last longer than the transfers.
Awesome video, I just started doing vinyl and I'm definitely learning alot as I go. Pricing is probably the hardest thing to get right at the moment. Some designs are a lot more involved that we initially thought so we definitely took me a loss on a couple jobs in with the time we in the project. Thanks for the info.
You're welcome! I have a website to help people trying to start a T-shirt Business. I have helpful items such as T-shirt Biz forms which includes my pricing sheet and all forms I use for my business. I also offer deals on printing, transfers and consultations/trainings. If you are interested you can check out www.IAmPrintSquad.com
I have a video called secret vinyl store that tells all of the different vinyls that I use. I think that's what you are asking. Just search "Tshirtchick secret vinyl store" here on youtube and it should pop up.
I found this video looking for a softer feel vinyl, been doing this about 7 years but had to say that is is some great info TshirtChick! Keep doin what you do!
Good job! Very jamb packed full of good advice. You seem like you work your ass off. I would like to see what you look like all dolled up and away from the shop and equipment. I bet you are a heart stopper, when you are spruced up! Just saying!
Very good instructional Video. Thanks for putting this up. And Thanks to RUclips for their unnecessary interruption right in the middle of your instruction just to run a commercial for someone else.
Hey, fantastic video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I'm working on getting started printing t-shirts after a long bout with extreme health issues. Look for to more insight and thanks again.
Thank you for your Videos. I own a retail party store for two years now and am looking for ways to grow my business. I'm looking into doing t-shirts Screen print and vinyl. Do you have recommendations for where to get supplies and shirts at wholesale? Again, Thanks for the information that you are sharing.
I love your videos I am trying to start my business but I just want to do it right the first time thank God I have the money for all of my equipment but I need training can you please give me some advice on how to get the training.
You can go to my site TshirtChickTv.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page and there I offer consultations if you need in-depth help. If you only have a couple of questions you can ask them here and I'll try to answer them.
Thank you for taking the time to explain all involved. Your advice should definitely help ANYONE. I agree who could dislike this video..you know what they say about HATIN...if you don't have at least a extra hater a year you not doing something right. So go GIRL!...do you and help US! LOL
Good job doing the videos.... How long were you in business before you bought the conveyor dryer? What was your first Press? Did you have something smaller before you bought your 6 x 4 press? Were you doing multiple color jobs before you bought your conveyor dryer? Do you flash inbetween screens when you are doing a multi color job? Do you ever use water base or do you mostly use plastisol? What computer program are you using for color separation? Do you put down a white base coat when doing multi color on black shirts?
I have videos for all of the questions you asked. Check out my playlists for the answers to these questions because it is waaayyy tooo much to type here.
Thank you for watching! I also have a second channel where I post different T-shirt Related videos. Here is the link ruclips.net/channel/UCuz-q3MDp9Zaatgw4lERwRQvideos
Thank you. Started vinyl with my cricut and bought a BetterSub heat press around Christmas 2021. I did HTV fir a group of about 15 shirts. Very time consuming but i enjoyed it and if i wasnt doing that i would be wasting my time on FB. I would like to get a bigger cutter but haven't looked into them yet.. any suggestions on styles or brands that fit a decent price range? Iwork vinyl and sublimation. I've tried screen print but don't care for it with items that have lots of little detail because the paint doesn't get into the real tiny areas so then the picture looks like a blob. Love your videos. Thank you for time with them.
Hi Kel! The only brands of vinyl cutters I have ever used is Roland. I started out with their 15 inch one and later purchased the GX-24 and last year the newer GS-24. I love my Rolands and Graphtec would have been my 2nd choice. I'm not sure why you are not getting great detail with screen printing, you should be able to get better detail with it than any other form of printing. You can actually print full color photos with screen printing by printing very tiny dots that form the image. The dots are so small that you can't see them unless you look really close at the shirt and the shirt just looks like a regular printed design when you step a couple feet back from it. Screen printing is about using the correct mesh for the job and your printing technique sometimes takes practice to perfect. Thank you for watching!
Fantastic and very informative encouraging video for people who are interested in understanding how to run a business like yours. Thank you very much for your sharing of wisdom.
I normally don't comment on videos. However, thank you for producing this video! You have provided some amazing tips to a knowledgeable person on the t-shirt business. It is SUPER helpful! - Peace and Love
Excellent video, this has been on my mind for months and your video appeared. God is good, thank you for sharing and congratulations on your business, you are one hard worker and definately a mentor. And your shirts looks great. Subbed!
I love ya more every video! Thanks for all that you do. Speaking of that, how 'bout you post one of how the hell you manage your time! I mean, it's all I can do to sift thru email, walk customers thru the whole process, make my orders, and actually print & ship. I can't even think about trying to take video, edit, upload and manage a RUclips channel. You rock. Keep kickin' that ass!
I was thinking about doing a day in the life showing what I do on a daily basis Hopefully that will kind of help. I have a lot going on right now especially with being a single mother and both the boys are playing football so things are rough for me right now and I sometimes can't stay awake and edit videos the way I would like to so I fall behind sometimes.
All of these points can be applied to any business. Great compilation. Thanks.

I've learned more from 3 of your videos than I have from all of the other instructional videos I've watched over 3 years combined.
Thank you I appreciate your comment!

I am thankful that I came across this video. How do you deal with copy right issues of your designs.
If it's copyrighted you can not sell it without permission from the owner/creator of the design.
Do you have videos about resale and wholesale prices and how to get them?
Fantastic and very informative encouraging video for people who are interested in understanding how to run a business like yours. Thank you very much for your sharing of wisdom.

I'm just getting started and I thank you for the information
Thank you for watching!
Great information. I'll stick with vinyl or sublimation. Whew chile, screen printing seems too big for me right now.
Once you try it you will love it! Thanks for watching!
Your cartoon is so cute. Proud of you sistah for having your own business
Thanks!!
