@@RetroGameCorps To be honest, you can just colour that in with a Texta or Sharpie, or just put a black ductape or sticker. It's really not worth listing in the Pro/Cons section. I think a MUCH bigger issue with this controller is how the right stick digs into your palm, accidentally triggering it, when you're just hitting the Action Buttons. Yes, the NSwitch is notorious for this same issue. Companies just don't focus on the end products like they used to. The whole industry seems happy to copy Microsoft here. But the Xbox doesn't have that issue simply because the controller side is that much larger. When this scheme gets adapted to a mobile device, things get squished together, and teething issues like this show themselves. Best solution actually is the WiiU Protroller from 2014, that scheme or layout actually scales down for mobile, and it's what Razer used back in 2019.
They would have placed the right thumb stick at the top like on the steam deck. That I may gripe with the game sir g8. It’s so awkward for me to use that right thumb stick in that low position. It’s for people that have incredible small hands i guess.

What makes the X4 a deal breaker for me is that ironically it isn't a full-size controller. That extra "handle bar" grip from the G8 really makes a difference.

One thing people aren't considering is that because the controllers are separated wirelessly, there is one less thing to break. Telescopic controllers have a delicate strip sending data back and forth. Damaging it on accident is fairly common even if the body of the controller doesn't give.
@@TimothyStuder A portable, fully wireless, two piece Bluetooth controller that can support tablets is too much of an ask. This would be really cool as a dual function device if the magnets would just snap into a regular controller mode... Also being able to use something like this with a tablet would be sick. There is a cool design here just waiting to be perfected!

True, but the x4 has hall effect gimbals. Far less likely to wear out, if ever. You pay a little more to keep the product for longer. X4 is better imho
The razer kishi v1 worked with my Samsung Galaxy A52 in the case when i removed the rubbers inside it, that is until the ribbon cable got damaged and the left side of the controller stopped working
I think an ideal controller for me would be this style, with one controller have a USB-C connection for the phone / tablet, a headphone jack, and the Galileo style grips. I own the X2 Pro and its good but just not quite there
Was waiting for the latency part and it's good to hear that you aren't noticing any lag due to it being Bluetooth. I Remember your review of the gamesir x2 Bluetooth version and you said the lag on that was unbearable. Wonder what gamesir changed. Hopefully they update their older Bluetooth controllers.
Strange they didn't just put some kind of elastic band on the back for some stability, if the green is the only issue for you a bit of black paint or marker could cover it nicely
Almost there. Im waiting for something similar I could use on something like Minis Forum V3 tablet or maybe a newer tablet by time I get around to getting a tablet for off time at work.
How well would this controller work on a PC? I have a friend with joint issues and holding their hand close together to hold a normal controller can get taxing for them. Their favorite controller at the moment are switch joycons and I've been trying to find extra wide or split controllers for them. There are alot of weird alternate joycons but build quality isn't the best for a lot of those and they all need to be run through betterjoy to work. It would be nice to have something that acts like a xbox controller.
Gamevice Flex. Compact can charge and use wired headphones no Bluetooth. Ryuginx heats up my sd gen1 so a wired cooling fan is a must. or a battery operated however Gamevice Flex still fulfills my phone gaming needs. Surpasses all so far.if this controller had one plug in to reach connection from one joy side to the other have usb direct charge capable id buy although I would need to attach that inducrix cooling fan with provided magnet on the phone. The game sir flex just tuck it behind the phone . No magnet needed. All in all dig this detailed video.!
This gamepad/controller is the copy of Atom turtle beach controller and mocute controller, but with some future es. LED rgb and rachagerbale analogue stick and dpad. The grips is also better on the back, having knurling.
Great review as always. most didn't cover the negatives as much. the same controller from REDMAGIC called DOUBLE BLADE has a better color way. also congrats on reaching 500K Subs
Congrats on the subs Russ. I guess the Gamevice Flex is still the best of this type of compact form factor but it's hardly ever in stock. I think I would take the G8 over my cheap X2 Pro but once you own one gimmicky phone controller it's hard to purchase another. As once you get a handheld with a 7" screen you rarely entertain playing on a phone.
Unlike telescopic controllers, you can put 27w phone cooler while using split controllers. Especially when playing heavy games and switch emulator. Now I can finally play with split controller without melting my phone battery
Galileo shape with longer grip/handle still the most comfortable for my hand, I owned Gamesir X3 (with permanent fan attached) and that short handle didnt fit my hand well for prolonged play. There is a reason why PS1 shape become a standard nowaday
I would say they picked that name because Aileron is a CONTROL surface and this is a CONTROLLER. And yes, it does sound cooler than Elevators, Rudders, Flaps, Slats etc etc.
I just want a mount that attaches to a PS5 or Xbox controller that uses Mag Safe to hold the iPhone. Easy on and off, plus you can play vertical or horizontal games.
I have been here with you since your early days, since you had les than 100 subscriptions, i felt the quality and potential of your channel, and years later here you are 500k followers and growing. Congratulations and this channel is so good
But this have it advantage when you want to attach the peltier cooler in the middle of the phone, help reduce the heat when play some heavy title. I have the Gamesir X3 which is have the cooler built in, but it only fit 2 out of 4 phones of mine. I definite buy the X4.
For the price they should include a soft neoprene storage pounch . Oh well, you can get one that fits for about $3 on Ali. I like how small the controller folds up. Still to this day my favorite Android / Retro player is a copper limited edition Samsung Note 9 with Razor Junglecat controller.
The gamesir g8 is almost perfect, it would be the ultimate controller with a space to add cooling and improve a little the ergonomics of the right hemisphere of the controller, the right stick does not have enough space and is uncomfortable to use, outside of that it is a very good controller, with fixing that detail it is at the height of those of console
As a GameSir X2 Pro owner, being able to use it with a thick case is sick. The charging process is a bit of a mixed bag.: No charge and play, but at least it doesn't suck battery from your phone. I'll stick with my X2 Pro that removed the rubber backing on to fit my phone case.
Still think the G8 is a better device too, very comfortable, no charging, fits in my bag. Just want a black version, was thinking of spraying the shell.
Crazy to see GameSir going from ''hahaha what name is this?!'' on Amazon/AliExpress just a few years ago to seeing quality hardware like this! About this one. The day someone makes a comfortable one that clips back into a comfortable, not stupid looking controller I can use with my SteamDeck/PC/whatever.... I'll only need 1 controller. (maybe that's the point haha now that I write it down... why sell 1 controller? but that's another story I guess)
I really like the idea of a compact phone controller, but it really needs to fit in my pocket, otherwise if I have to have a bag with me anyway I might as well just bring something more comfortable like the Galileo, or a dedicated pocketable game console like the RG35XX H.
The Razer Kishi 1st gen also as compact as this one for less money and with more stable usb connection. It can fit in my pocket. Obviously it isn't as sturdy as my Gemaesir X2 Pro.
Thanks for the video. I was considering one of these, but the wobbled you displayed with and without a case was a deal breaker. That looked really jank.
Why would they make it go together backwards like that?! If they could have figured out a way to make them fit together front facing it could also be used as a regular controller. Especially if your using a tablet or something thats propped up. Making it more usefull. I also still want one of these guys to make a controller with a MicroSD slot so the controller functions both as a Bluetooth controller but also as a portable storage for roms. Since phones don't have a lot of space. So much missed opportunity for this.
Great review. I've been debating between a dedicated handheld to play up to PSP games or a controller for my iPhone. I was almost sold on the G8, but I can't see myself taking the case off my phone every time I wanna game. The X4 "fixes" that, but it doesn't seem as secure on the phone. Too bad it doesn't work with iOS
Man I think I almost like it. I just wish they could have done something much better than that green clips. I hate the branding but it is also a missed opportunity that we can use phones (or tablets) vertically. Why would I want to play vertically? For DS games lol
It has a use! Don't you know the rog phones have a cooler which you can place in the middle? With that we can also have a controller while also using the cooler
i really wish they would make a strong telescopic controler like the g8 with usb c but for tablets, even if it uses a band system on something to keep the 2 sides connected to the sides of the tablet,
The joycon like play style can actually work well if someone makes an attachment in the middle to make it a controller when docked. So, connect it to the sides when portable like the switch and connect it to a center piece when using HDMI for a console experience.
I want to do something like that for a friend who has joint issues and can't comfortably hold normal controllers. Due to having their arms and shoulders turned inward too much. They really like split joycons and wide controllers but there's not a lot of choice out there.
Since it's a Bluetooth controller, you could just get someone to 3D print a filler stand-in, it would probably take them like 15 minutes to design it and $5 in plastic costs to print.
The triangle thing does come off. Use a coin or something to pry it. What it's for is a complete mystery, though. I've looked all over and can't figure it out.
They should sent a analog stick cap, for when you just want a full 2D experience. And I would add a faux phone connection, to just used as a regular bt controller
I have one on the way. Hopefully it works even with my case on. (S24 ultra and Dbrand grip case) Probably won't but at least it's more compact then the Galileo.
@RetroGameCorps i love your reviews but this one is done with little research although i think gamesir is the one to blame instead of you since they failed to advertise it so. this gamepad has 3 connection modes and if you press the xbox button + a then it gets detected as gamesir x4 and doesn't work on iphone and if you press xbox button + b then its xbox mode and it gets detected as xbox series controller and works on iphone. and here is the big thing, listen closely if you press the xbox and start or whatever the top button is on left side and then the share and select on right side it becomes 2 controllers just like joycons on switch. i literally play contra with my brother with this. also one benefit of backless design is you can use a phone cooler with it if you are playing genshin on it on max settings cause then the phone tends to heat up. also they do provide stl files to 3d print a middle connector and extenders to use tablets or fold phones, i know a bit sad they dont provide it themselves but i mean it cost me like 4 usd in my country to get it 3d printed online so yeah this fixes a lot of things. i hope you give this controller another shot cause i seriously love mine.
Missed opportunity. The fact that it split into two separate pieces would have make it the perfect tablet controller of all sizes.

Love seeing the LG V60 in the vid. My daily driver 😎
Mine too. Beautiful screen, great audio and SD card support. I wish LG still made phones😢
I love the buttons-true microswitches! And did you say hall effect joysticks?! The only thing that kills it for me is the price.
Yeah, at that price point you could just get a handheld that comes with its own controls, and save phone battery at the same time.
I feel like just the fact that phones in cases fit in it makes me want to get it considering there arent any others that do...
The razer kishi v1 worked with my Samsung Galaxy A52 in the case when i removed the rubbers inside it, that is until the ribbon cable got damaged and the left side of the controller stopped working
You can cut out the rubber strip near the usb c port on the G8, it fits with every case I have on my Oneplus 12
other controllers that support cases:
- Razer Kishi (both V1 and V2. just take out the rubber)
- Backbone One (2nd gen)
- any bluetooth controller
@@aiSage48What a dumb list.
@@aiSage48 Thanks!
I think an ideal controller for me would be this style, with one controller have a USB-C connection for the phone / tablet, a headphone jack, and the Galileo style grips. I own the X2 Pro and its good but just not quite there
16:19 for $100 this is a huge oversight. For the price you may as well get an actual handheld
No shit, for $100 more you get a retroid pocket 4 pro
It's an android controller... It's not gonna work on iPhone. Just like controllers for iPhone don't work on Android. They have separate versions
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 It's bluetooth. Pretty sure it should work on iPhone. Most work for both. And for $100 I would expect it to work for both.
Congrats on 500k Russ!!
At least for me the fact that Gamesir now has a controller that really works with phone cases is great and a reason for this device to exist in itself
Almost there.
Im waiting for something similar I could use on something like Minis Forum V3 tablet or maybe a newer tablet by time I get around to getting a tablet for off time at work.
G8 Galileo with X4 sticks, Vita D-pad and more colors would be amazing.
It should connect fine to Windows, using the method I showed in this video where you hold onto the Xbox button to turn the controller on.
Why does color way matter?
@@billmore6486The customer is always right in matters of taste
It's the same controller. I remember Redmagic having their own version of G8 Galileo so not surprised they also have their own X4
Hell yeah to 500k! Next stop 2 million!
Why would you have a wireless split design controller and not support tablets?
Because they're clearly going for a sleek pocketable design, which would be quite redundant if you're planning on bringing along an entire tablet?
Because it's a controller for a phone 🤓
Thanks for the review, I was eyeing this up before I saw this - the other reviews out there aren't anywhere near as thorough or as trustworthy
I would say they picked that name because Aileron is a CONTROL surface and this is a CONTROLLER. And yes, it does sound cooler than Elevators, Rudders, Flaps, Slats etc etc.
Man, this split controller design seemed like the perfect solution to my iPad problem. Guess I'll stick to the modded G8 for now.
Congratulations and this channel is so good
After buying the g8 and doing a slight mod with removing plastic for a 12inch tablet, can't see using something that cannot allow that.
I’m not sure this BT controller is worth $100 bucks. There are several options from other companies and even Game Sir at a better price.
I've got the X2 pro but this is much nicer to hold, and fits my S24U with case.
Wish it was like the razr junglecat, that was awesome (for like the 3 phones it actually fit with)
Thanks for the video. I was considering one of these, but the wobbled you displayed with and without a case was a deal breaker. That looked really jank.
this is the perfact controler to use with fan coole, and it' compact to bring anywhere. it's the perfect gamepad for me
Why would they make it go together backwards like that?!
Will you review BSP-D9?
They shouldve kept that controller grip from the gray one u like and kept it on that black x4
Man I think I almost like it. I just wish they could have done something much better than that green clips. I hate the branding but it is also a missed opportunity that we can use phones (or tablets) vertically. Why would I want to play vertically? For DS games lol
Could you use it with tablets by connecting it using the detatched joycon style?
Yes, similar to what Russ did at 18:00 you can connect it to an Android tablet.
It has a use! Don't you know the rog phones have a cooler which you can place in the middle? With that we can also have a controller while also using the cooler
Ngl the design of this thing goes hard.
Didn't work with my phone case, but I like my phone case more. Had to return it.
i really wish they would make a strong telescopic controler like the g8 with usb c but for tablets, even if it uses a band system on something to keep the 2 sides connected to the sides of the tablet,
The joycon like play style can actually work well if someone makes an attachment in the middle to make it a controller when docked.
I like that magnetic feature. Too bad it’s so expensive T__T
Wait its two halves but still height limited?? Thats a very foolish decision like at this point you really should just have a usb connection
So annoying. I thought there was finally an option for large tablets. 😢
I can't just wait to see the odin 2 mini and the ayaneo pocket dmg
They should sent a analog stick cap, for when you just want a full 2D experience. And I would add a faux phone connection, to just used as a regular bt controller
I have one on the way. Hopefully it works even with my case on. (S24 ultra and Dbrand grip case) Probably won't but at least it's more compact then the Galileo.
I hope you can review the RedMagic Double Blade in contrast with this one and compare them
Id buy it if i played more games on phone. Love the look
I think Aileron is referring to the green flaps on the controller.
Can you use the phone vertically for a sort of jury rigged DS emulation setup?
Wondering why you didn't compare to the razor controllers
The Razer Kishi squished into a similar small footprint. Id be interested to see how the size of this compares when both are folded up.
The cons definitely outweigh the pros, especially at this price point.
No USB-C connection, no buy. Input delay is crazy on Android without it.
The instruction manual is competing with CVS receipts!
Can we connect it to PC via bluetooth? And play XGP ultimate games?
I use a gamesir controller for my pc. I like it way better than the Xbox series and gulikit K pro2 controllers i own. I might have get this :D
I buy a gamesir controller it was 3 or 4 years ago and it died in just one year so… I don’t know if this will still work in few years.
They insisted the g8 galileo would fit with a case. It didn't, even after peeling off the rubber. No more Gamesir for me.
I think it's probably called an aileron because when you detach it you roll it over. Like the graphic on the box.
is this supported by the games app. they don't support their new g8.
Love it because have space for cooler ❤️
Happy gaming 🔥
23:10 Gamesir didn't apply any of their design knowledge when creating this controller because it was actually designed by Turtle Beach.
Why did they release this with no option for iOS? Its literally the PERFECT TIME TO DO THAT
Tries to emulate the Turtle beach atom controller style&feel with a few extra features added.
