Chapter Timestamps: 0:00 to 1:34 Introduction 1:35 to 2:55 The declaration dilemma 2:56 to 4:24 Insights from John Wright 4:25 to 5:20 Aftershocks of the decision 5:21 to 6:20 Friendship beyond the boundary 6:21 to 7:00 Parting Thoughts
Tendulkar still holds grudge against Dravid. He mentioned that in his book and revealed the same in front of everyone during the unveiling (ceremony/interviews) of the his book. The declaration was done in right spirit upholding team first and above individual milestones. We all know Tendulkar cares so much for his personal records. We have often seen how players slow down in pursuit of personal milestones pushing team victory opportunities aside. It was very prevalent then. Unfortunately, we saw ll see thst to some extent (ODI CWC2023) In this particular test match, Tendulkar was stuck in 180-190s forever. The frustration in the dressing room was very palpable. I, as a cricket fan, was so frustrated by the slowness (by Tendulkar). We had to declare our innings and invite Pakistan to bat after tea, and give enough time to our bowlers to take their 20 wickets. Dravid’s decision was correct!!
Thank you for sharing your insights! Definitely the team’s interest was the priority, and Dravid's decision was made with that in mind. Regardless of the controversy, it’s important to note that the players have moved on, and ultimately, the decision led to a positive outcome for the team:)
Still remember how glued I was to the TV screen just to see my hero achieve that milestone and how excited I was just to see my team's score sheet reading both triple century and a double century in a same inning..... Thanks for this video, you've earned yourself a new subscription
