This works great! Thank you!! I made my levels 3 high so enderman could spawn too. All mobs are spawning and dropping items, including spiders, enderman, witches... I built mine in the ocean. I used 2 stacks plus 4 of the scaffolding instead of ladders/blocks. I didn't use carpet, and I put buttons on the roof with torches only on the outside blocks 3 apart. I also converted the slabs on the landing to whole blocks (just add another slab) so mobs cant see you, and I left only the front of killzone open, where chest is. (Mobs will move forward) Enclose it to make a room for yourself, 2 high around you or enderman may come in. In my room, I added a grindstone and 3 double chests because you get a ton of loot. Play on hard and get a ton of gold armor and sometimes diamond. I also use a few windows so I can see outside. Have fun playing everyone!
@AutodidactEngineer Not always, especially during the day. I have 4 stacks of enderpearls so far. I tried to make sure they have nowhere to teleport to also.
Great farm! one problem though. while testing it out a creeper saw me and exploded so definitely make the drop more narrow so the mobs won't see you and explode
@@alqce9958 you can use dirt, but from what I hear, it doesn't work as well, and if creeper explodes, it can be bad because dirt isn't as strong as cobblestone. And I think some mobs won't spawn on wood. Just a guess, so I could be wrong
if you are afraid of being blown up by a creeper, I have a great solution for this first, make tiny 1x1 block towers in the corners using blocks and slabs so that mobs can't see you. leave the bottom slab at the end so that no one can spawn there. expand your platform if necessary then place the chests around, just like your double chest is. you need to place chests in 10 places. (slabs don't work, I tried it on 1.20.1 and the experience spheres remained on the trapdoors instead of coming to me. due to the fact that the chest is smaller than slabs, we get closer to the farm and can pick up experience, but not so close that we blew up by creeper) never crouch. if a creeper spots you upon landing, it will explode immediately, it happened with me

Pretty good xp farm but there's a few problems with it, some mobs stay on platforms where you placed carpets and won't jump down because nothing is pushing them and 3x3 tunnel is not good because if you get too close, creepers can blow up
@@CyanicBirbjust tried this as I'm having problems with Skeletons being able to shoot through the gap and also triggering creepers, it just made it worse they managed to blow through my deepslate walls instead of just breaking the hoppers
Haven't commented for a WHILE, but I absolutely love how short and to the point your videos are, I always try to look for your videos when trying to build a farm and have been for years atp
On a server, how far away must it be from other players to actually let the mobs spawn? As soon as no one is nearby the farm goes crazy but if a second person is around in the city down below the whole farm stops
how is that possible every player has their own mob cap around them, the mob caps only merge together when someone is in 128 blocks block sphere. I think you should stay about 150 blocks away or check if the server use 1 mob cap only
Few problems I’ve noticed with this build. 1: Spiders do spawn, the carpets do nothing. I don’t see the issue though, just feels like a waste of materials. 2: On the bottom, it’s a 3x3, so the mobs can see you! A big no-no with mob farms. 3: The slabs on the bottom make it very difficult and dangerous to try to use this farm. I recommend using solid blocks and not using slabs as the bottom of the killing tube.
Lmao I had the same problem but I was somehow short like 8 to finish the 2nd lay. It took to long to get them trap doors So I only did 2 layer and it works pretty good
here, (if this is even helpful so late) this is the specific amount of blocks needed for 1 layer 164 (2 stack + 36) blocks, 72 (1 stack + 8) trapdoors, 9 carpets
PSA: I recommend everyone make the hole the mobs drop down 2x3 instead of 3x3, and put the chest on either side instead of in front. if it's 3x3 creepers can see you if they're far back enough and blow up all your hoppers. also, make sure to replace the slabs at the bottom next to the hoppers with stairs, to stop you from getting too close (getting too close will also let creepers see you). i would also recommend filling in the corners and all other sides that aren't the front as well. if you set it up this way, there is no spot that creepers can see you and blow up, and mobs still spawn at the same rate 👍
I liked how you made your song sound like its underwater when you went into the water! And awesome farm! i am gonna use it in my survival world with my lil bro.
Looking at the comments I was scared how the farm will turn out but it actually worked very well! For people that is afraid of the creeper problem, my solution is place another block next to the y 195 block and a bed on top.if angled specifically you can hit the mobs while they don’t see you, also use crouching if you scared of height xd🎉🎉🎉 Edit: I’m on console and used cobble and deepslate
Nice one. Worked pretty well although I might need more levels for more drops. Nice and easy design. Opted to destroy the pillar as with elytra is easy to reach it.
you can use fireworks if you didn't know, when gliding, right click with a firework and it will boost you in the direction your cursor is in@Desperate540
also to prevent creeper explosions i highly suggest to build another layer of trapdoors and you can still kill the monsters in the xp farm and when it is safe and all creepers are killed you can open the trapdoor and collect the XP hope this helped if you're having troubles with the creepers!
My mob farm is extremely slow. I changed some of my lunar settings and it sped it up but I am still having problems. I checked for lighting issues and still couldn’t find any flaws in my build or lighting. It’s also all at y 195 and it’s in a wide lake but my spawns are not coming in fast enough.
hey so i just tried this on my ps5 and you’re the closest comment to this date to say you did it successfully. i did it over a river near me and my friends base but it doesn’t seem to produce very many mobs. any ideas on what could possibly be the problem?
@@SantiagoMaza-Urick i'm not sure because you are playing on ps5 which is bedrock edition while this video is made on java edition. when you say river did you built on land or on the river? because it would not work if it's on the river. i guess the best way to know is just build it on creative and see if it's work
If I'm not mistaken, and I could be wrong, (idk, because I have a different mob spawn setup and it works, just not as good as it was shown in the video tutorial) I think you have to have it away from a village, a certain amount of blocks. I think it was fifty. Again not 100% to how accurate it is because mine works just not as well as the tutorial I watched. Not this video.
Thank you for the guide! I built 33 floors XD until the max height. If my calculations are correct it ineeded: 8094 building blocks, 2476 trapdoors, 297 carpets... Spawn rate is epic! Do not know if the whole building is in use though when being over 100 blocks high spawn floor-wise.
@@mr.penguin3009 at first it was rather moderat but still pretty fast on easy difficulty, but with turning difficulty up to hard the spawn rate increased a bit more. Apparently more mobs will spawn during the day, so make sure to afk that farm only during the day. The reason being is that at night those monsters also spawn in other areas of the world so the spawn rate is reduced for your farm.
@@Navii-05that's why you build it over the ocean instead of on land. The bed is not a requirement at all but sleeping through the night during construction is helpful and you can easily seal the killing platform to keep phantoms out and afk 24\7

Great tutorial, here's some other helpful advice (this is based on Java, I don't play the other variants): Always back up your world prior to taking a high-risk (trekking across the nether, exploring a fortress, building an high-rise farm) To begin, save and exit your world: 1) Open up your file explorer 2) Follow this path: C:\Users\{your windows login name}\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves 3) Right-click on your world name, select Send to->Compressed folder 4) It will create a sequential folder name based on your world name. That's it, you now have a saved world. Any changes you make past this point won't be saved unless you do this again. So if you accomplish your task, exit out, rinse & repeat. This also works if you want to play on different PC's. You could save that game zip file to your cloud/or USB drive and place it in the same directory. Extract it and now that world will show up in your play list. Just remember to zip it again after you finish and place it back in the cloud and/or USB drive to have the most up-to-date version of your world. When you unzip, always delete the active world first. You want all the files to match, so don't just overwrite the active directory. There are several sites that give you pretty cool world Seeds, but guess what, the world you're on also has it's own seed. A quick way to find your way around: When you click on your world, you have additional options, one of which is to clone it. Only this time, clone it as a Creative world, I use a -c to the world name i.e. new world (active) -> new world-c (clone/creative) Open up the -c world, you can now use locate, teleport, and other commands to locate villages, mines, shipwrecks, biomes and a lot of other things. If you get a message none found, teleport on your x & y may 500 squares at first, then locate again. You might try to locate a biome first, teleport there, then do a locate. Keep a spreadsheet, I have a location column, then 3x columns of x,y,z for Over, Nether, and the End. In the Nether column, I set the x & y to be 8x the x & y of the Over. This gives me a good guess of where my Portals will come out. So if I locate a Stronghold a couple thousand squares away in Over, I can get the Nether location and walk there for a quick transport to the End. Keep in mind you'll be taking a high-risk traveling across the Nether, so see above on how to save your world for recovery. Next, use the peaceful setting when first starting out. Use the creative world to find a village and get the coordinates, exit out and go into your active world and make a dash to it. Get it working by adding some beds, feeding the villagers with some bread to increase your population. Fence off the village and fix anything that will kill your villagers. Then start working on your farms and get operational, then go Easy/Normal/Hard. With any farm you can add a lethal option, so falls kill instead of just damaging. You won't gain xp for the most part, but you can gain supplies when you're afk. So Hardcore isn't so Hardcore either. If you create the save, you can always go back in time to not make the same mistake again. If you die, just delete the live world (in which you're dead), unzip your saved world, and try, try, again.
Netherrack works fine any solid block does. A few things to check. Did you build over land or the ocean? If the former make sure you completely spawn proof every chunk surrounding your grinder. Try lowering your render distance to 2 while your at it so there are much fewer blocks mobs can spawn from. Are you playing on hard difficulty? Are you in multiplayer? Multiplayer servers means fewer mobs since mobs spawn around everyone else taking away from the mob cap.
In case this helps anyone, when I make mine in a world (because I use this a lot, super thankful for it lol), I extend the standing platform out a lot, to make a trash can (for useless stuff like skeleton bows, etc) and I make the front wall of the drop down glass, just to make it fun seeing all the mobs drop down

Endermen will teleport away
@AutodidactEngineer Not always, especially during the day. I have 4 stacks of enderpearls so far. I tried to make sure they have nowhere to teleport to also.
cheers for all the tips, will converting the slabs to full blokes fully remove the risk of a creeper blowing up?
@joshua-7638 Yes, it did for me. The mobs cant see me even when I crouch.
Do spiders not get stuck on top of the roof?
Thank you so much for this video. The mob farm works great!
Great farm! one problem though. while testing it out a creeper saw me and exploded so definitely make the drop more narrow so the mobs won't see you and explode

Does dirt work for this build instead of stone?
@@alqce9958You can use any full block you want in place of the stone used in the video 😁👍 it says in text at the beginning 👌
@@alqce9958 you can use dirt, but from what I hear, it doesn't work as well, and if creeper explodes, it can be bad because dirt isn't as strong as cobblestone. And I think some mobs won't spawn on wood. Just a guess, so I could be wrong
if you are afraid of being blown up by a creeper, I have a great solution for this
first, make tiny 1x1 block towers in the corners using blocks and slabs so that mobs can't see you. leave the bottom slab at the end so that no one can spawn there. expand your platform if necessary
then place the chests around, just like your double chest is. you need to place chests in 10 places. (slabs don't work, I tried it on 1.20.1 and the experience spheres remained on the trapdoors instead of coming to me. due to the fact that the chest is smaller than slabs, we get closer to the farm and can pick up experience, but not so close that we blew up by creeper)
never crouch. if a creeper spots you upon landing, it will explode immediately, it happened with me

I think you should stay about 150 blocks away or check if the server use 1 mob cap only
Still works extremely well on bedrock, thanks so much (I made 10 layers)
Think this update ruined it bc this one doesn’t work
Few problems I’ve noticed with this build.
I recommend using solid blocks and not using slabs as the bottom of the killing tube.
let's say, are you on bedrock?

@@DUMS_person I already built one up to build height, but I still appreciate you taking the time out of your day to help a stranger.
PSA: I recommend everyone make the hole the mobs drop down 2x3 instead of 3x3, and put the chest on either side instead of in front. if it's 3x3 creepers can see you if they're far back enough and blow up all your hoppers. also, make sure to replace the slabs at the bottom next to the hoppers with stairs, to stop you from getting too close (getting too close will also let creepers see you). i would also recommend filling in the corners and all other sides that aren't the front as well. if you set it up this way, there is no spot that creepers can see you and blow up, and mobs still spawn at the same rate 👍
if you replace the slabs at the bottom with stairs, there won't be a gap anymore to hit through, no ?

Doesn’t work for me. I’ve gone over it 3 times but did it exactly the way you did yet no mobs are spawning. Idk what to do tbh
If I'm not mistaken, and I could be wrong, (idk, because I have a different mob spawn setup and it works, just not as good as it was shown in the video tutorial) I think you have to have it away from a village, a certain amount of blocks.

Great tutorial, here's some other helpful advice (this is based on Java, I don't play the other variants):
Always back up your world prior to taking a high-risk (trekking across the nether, exploring a fortress, building an high-rise farm)
To begin, save and exit your world:
1) Open up your file explorer
2) Follow this path: C:\Users\{your windows login name}\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves
3) Right-click on your world name, select Send to->Compressed folder
4) It will create a sequential folder name based on your world name.
A quick way to find your way around:
When you click on your world, you have additional options, one of which is to clone it.
Only this time, clone it as a Creative world, I use a -c to the world name i.e. new world (active) -> new world-c (clone/creative)
Open up the -c world, you can now use locate, teleport, and other commands to locate villages, mines, shipwrecks, biomes and a lot of other things.
Very few mobs come down even after 10 minutes of waiting. I know the build isn’t wrong I’ve checked it, could it be because I used nether rack?
same here
Netherrack works fine any solid block does.
In case this helps anyone, when I make mine in a world (because I use this a lot, super thankful for it lol), I extend the standing platform out a lot, to make a trash can (for useless stuff like skeleton bows, etc) and I make the front wall of the drop down glass, just to make it fun seeing all the mobs drop down
I built this on the play station and it doesn't work at all, there's no light and I followed all the dimensions perfectly, does anyone know what might be wrong thanks?
