Nice cover! A suggestion I made is that instead of using the unrecognizable Knuckles, you could’ve used Soul Knuckles/Knuckles.EXE (The one from Triple Trouble) but other than that, good work!
To me I can imagine that Sonic is having a hallucination and, he can't snap out of it
In the og mod he is really fighting tails to stop the madness he's casuing to sonic and his friends and he's willing to do anything to stop it

Imagine it this way. Tails is crazy and is killing all of Sonic’s friends. All of this is slowly sending Sonic through all these hallucinations and he is losing himself mentally. That could represent Sonic.EXE and dead Knuckles battling. He is having hallucinations of Knuckles when we was alive and the Sonic.EXE vs dead Knuckles is showing his hallucinations getting distorted and his own descent into madness

the Lore: Sonic being very sad since Knuckle's death And Tails been crazy, but one day Sonic found Knuckles alive and Sonic is confused , Sonic think that was a faker and Sonic Said "that's impossible i kill you when i was in exe version" and then Sonic and (the fake) Knuckles start to rap battle and in the song you can see sonic's memories (like in 1:30 - 2:08 and 2:09 - 2:24)
