I'm curious about why there is no pre-amp in this setup. All other people who I've seen sending a saxophone through pedals use a pre-amp between the mic and pedals. Is the 2i2 negating the need for that? Would you be able to use the setup in this video live/with a whole band? I'm trying to get into the saxophone pedal thing, and if i don't need a pre-amp that'd be awesome
So, I'm not using a preamp on this one because the SM57 does not require phantom power. For a while I did have a preamp when I was using a condenser microphone, but I got tired of having to bring so much gear everywhere. You can absolutely use this live with a band!
This is super cool! Confused a bit about the stereo field -- at first glance it appears you have a mono output from your board, but are you splitting the signal on the output with a Y cable or something?
Nice video! Could you share what this hi-lo impedance adapter is? I cannot find it on Thomann unfortunately. You mention the stereo field a lot of times, but the whole signal chain is mono... Am I missing something?
Yes, you are correct, everything on the board is mono. My intention was to describe the perceived sonic space the effects have when they get into a live or recorded mix. There is probably a more clear/correct way to discuss this, so thanks for bringing this up as it will help future videos.
Well... I also have an Ipad and a Focusrite interface. I simply downloaded the Eventide FX bundle, Audiobus and then you essentially have the same FX with better tracking and less noise and less stuff to carry arround ;-)
I really like the MXR Reverb Pedal. I don't have one on this board because I don't like to use it live very often, most of the time the mixing engineer will add it on their end.
Great video! I have been trying to figure out how to connect my pedals into my interface and through logic pro...do you know what the signal flow would be? Or using an ipad? I have an ipad as well. Which software are you using?

Hai GetASax, thanks for you nice posts. I've tried to use a Boss pedal while playing saxophone.. Ik used a SD clip-on dynamic mic, connected this with the pedal and the pedal I connected with my Zoom H5 recorder. But unfortunately no effects.. Without the pedal the sound of the mic is good.. It seems the pedal doesn't have enough power.. the red lamp is not blinking. I've tried the pedal with just a 9V battery and I've tried the pedal connected to a powerblock. I don't understand.. do you have any advise?
I had a preamp for a while, but it's really only necessary if your microphone requires phantom power, that's at least why I was using it. There could be an argument that a preamp will create a better signal for the pedals, or more to experiment with, but for me I didn't find it worth having another piece of gear around.

Cool stuff. Well described. But your background track during narration is too loud and distracting to what you are saying and soon drives away my will to live ;-) Really nice effects combinations....now I have more toys to buy.
never use distortion onn sax it sucks.Hear that breath distorted ...Y a that sucks.Don't believe me try when your playing with a small or large group it sucks .
I'm a guitar player and loved this pedalboard 👏👏👏 nice tones

uh i'm sorry but you keep talking about "the stereo field" while playing in mono?
This is so cool! I am a bassist but its awesome to see a pedalboard for sax.
exactly the video I needed, thanks man!
also, i think the PS6 sounds better after distortion, it tracks overdrive really really well but overdriving the harmonies muddies things up

(nevermind, saw your comment below. still, sick tones you've got!)
Love the combo #4

You're not missing anything. It's just nonsense
@@adamnesbitt11 especially because the boss pedal has an always-on buffer that keeps a constant impedance
@@ryvers I mean the stereo field nonsense. He's running a mono signal chain.
Here is the adapter I use. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/LittleIMP--whirlwind-little-imp-lo-z-xlr-to-hi-z-1-4-inch-inline-impedance-matcher

Great video!, what do you think about the Zoom A1X Four?
Nice video. I'm a little surprised you don't have reverb pedal in there. If you do have a reverb pedal, which one do you use?

Any problems live with feedback ? How do u mic your sound live on stage?

What Boss pedal are you using?
Hello, thanks for the video!! Please advise the best pedal for reverberation of the tenor saxophone from the xmr series🙏
MXR M300
#5 awesome as well 👌
what are your thoughts on pre-amps?

this is so dope
excelent !!!
I think your pedal order is logical, but I don't see how they would affect the stereo field. It looks like you're using all your pedals in mono
I was looking at the same thing :D

how can you talk about "stereo field" if your pedalboard is mono? 😲

I'll make sure to keep that in mind! Listening back it is a bit too loud, thanks for the feedback!
