Ok and so how does this affect Privacy Shield? Are we being redundant here? If I understand this correctly this is for companies that interact with potential customers to collect and market to. Like cell phone companies, insurance companies, financial companies.
War Ninja Yep Privacy shield will be redundant. There is more to this than just the marketing elemant. All PII of EU citizens will have to managed in a certain way. Regardless of whether your company accepted a resume or whether you hold their bank account details etc. Many companies will leverage this regualtion for overall better data privacy and cleanliness
How would this apply to an organization that is HITRUST CSF certifed but does not contain data of non-U.S. citizens? In other words. The member data processed by our organization is U.S. citizens only. Please advise. Thank you.

So we delete someones data & they are forgotten. Fine. Then we find the person again & have forgotten they have been forgotten. How do we deal with this?
Great question Frank! - I think that is why it is important to have a system in place for Consent Management - That way, you can always cross-check any data against it. Hope this helps?
Sadly, more of an advert for services - though the initial 3 minutes were helpful on GDPR.
