He talked about something so fundamental about all of Mozart's works -- simplicity, and just play at the correct tempo and everything else will take care of itself.
Gu Binan it makes sense that he addressed it though because some players need to be reminded that this peice is simple and elegant there's no need to add notes or speed up the piece to make it challenging because that's not what they are looking for but nonetheless this concerto can be made so much more if you stick to the fundamentals
Thanks Stefan! Which brand, please? Such a beautiful tone and round soft sounds. 👌🎶🌟🙂 And good tips, quite subtle differences. 👍I also noticed you blow like a trumpetist, you don't do that typical mosquito mouth that so many teachers tell you to do. It looks so much easier and less effort, the way you blow into the horn. Am I correct? A question: for those allergic to lower type and mixed metals, might you know where one can purchase an affordable French horn nickel-free and chrome-free?! I mean, mostly inside, too. The tubes, and all. As one can put leather along the handle side, and get abs plastic, or silver palette keys, also a plastic, silver or golden mouthpiece. But we also inhale the humidity or air, at times, the metal from inside. And, that's not good at all. I only found Engelbert Schmid and I heard maybe Patterson. Both, only custom made. The latter brand, I'm not so fond of. It's becoming more and more common and problematic for those who suffer from metal allergies. So, it's important for the craftspeople to change their materials according to that. I hope you don't have that allergy! Take care.
I've never heard such a perfect and simple explanation of how to approach Mozart's work. Fantastic. No wonder he's in Berliner Philharmonic...and no wonder Berliner was the top choice (and is) for Deutche Grammaphon (my favorite recordings).
The last sen thtence: "...and enjoy the music" really sums it up for me. Stefan makes it all sound so simple and straightforward, and yes, so comprehensible. The way he expresses his thoughts first and then shows the 'right way' shows what a great teacher he is. Thank you so much for a great video!!
Nearly everyone has beautiful tone. What I like is that I can hear when he tongues. It may sound heavy in this intimate context, but when he's in the back of a concert hall, it is greatly appreciated!
Number one reason most folks don't play Mozart quite right-its simpler/much more straightforward than you think (musically), but you've got to be working on your scales AND lip trills (technically), with a metronome, and with consistent effort AND patience.
El sonido de la trompa,es muy especial, dulce sobre ser un instrumento de metal ,ay trompistas maravillosos ,me encanta escuchar la trompa es genial ,. Para mí es como el chelo instrumento de cuerda, fabuloso también. 🌹🌹
Well, I never cared much for Mozart, but you won me over with your singing tone and control of the fast notes, and even made them musical. Thank you very much. Oklahoma City.
I believe he uses an Alexander 103, as do his colleagues in the Berlin Phil horn section. He is the only one who uses the nickel 103, however, as far as I can tell. Others use yellow brass 103s.
Lips trills are good for whole tone trills, but it’s very important that the trill at the end of the exposition is a half step trill from E to F and not E to F sharp. In this case the valve trill is better!
Sorry, this dude might be one of the greatest horn players in the world with a very fancy name, and playing with one of the greatest orchestras in the world, but as a teacher and communicator, he will starve, too many dos and don't s. He cannot teach anyone anything, Sarah did it better. Same goes to composers, they are the worse teachers in the world, they cannot express an idea without drowning in a drop of water. I am speaking from personal experience, so do us and the world a favor, if you are not into pedagogy, please don't try to teach. If you're a composer, performer or conductor, but not a pedagogue, please don't try to teach, moreover, don't even attempt to write theory books. Again, I write these lines based on personal experience as a music student.

Silver French Horns are beautiful and the tone quality is always beautiful!
I'm a pianist and still really enjoyed this. He plays so well. What ease and tone he has. Thank you.
ok
He plays so beautifully!
Wonderful advice from a musician who is at the very top of his art!
That nickel plated 103 is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.
The best professional sound very very good
What a beautiful sound. I hope I play horn like this one day.
Thank you for clearing up the mystery of your horn model, Mr. Jezierski :-)
Parabéns Stefan

Is this same person I played Handel's Messiah with a couple years' ago? At the Bellevue Stake Center?
LeIndyVid Oh, most definitely. And yes, I'm trying to guess your name. Maybe this conversation should be moved to messaging. :)

Hi Stefan. You said doing this masterclass felt really uncomfortable... would never have guessed, it sounds so good.
Brooke
such a beautiful tone.. wow :) Great advice thank you!
Dear Greg! I am using a Brass hand hammered 103 built in 2009, silver plated, and a standard Schilke #29 mouthpiece! SJ
Well, I never cared much for Mozart, but you won me over with your singing tone and control of the fast notes, and even made them musical. Thank you very much. Oklahoma City.
4:34 power stance
Yo😂😂
I would sell my body for that french horn, but nobody wants it :( That horn is beautiful!
I wish there was a flute master class it would be really helpful for flutists who enjoy these types of videos
haha i like this guy's teaching-style. also, i want his horn.
best damn horn i've ever heard
Verry good
Hah, watching this video and remembering all the things i did right and wrong with this one. Beautifully presented.
Thanks!
Too bad I didn't have this master class back in the days when I was learning to play the horn - 1951....
Me trae gratos recuerdos de cuando interpretaba tan bello instrumento con ese sonido excepcional.
Thank you very much! wonderfull!
@shib340 ...and wrog is splendid too, every note is beautiful, simply, Maestro is not able to play other than beutiful, it is just not possible!!!
awesome.
Esse cara tem um som perfeito na trompa parabens
@Trompete666 es ist ein Alexander 103 HG Messing versilbert gebaut in 2009 (Alex 103 with a hand -hammered bell, silver plated built 2009.)

wow amazing everything!!!
so useful!!! :) thnx for the info :)
great
@MD051 Die Kollegen vom LSO wollen noch etwas von dieser Seite beisteuern.
Interesting that he emphasizes playing it straight. If you heard it in performance you would admire the interpretation.
It is a brass 103 silver plated!
he may not be the best teacher but my god can he play the french horn
I think it is F horn throughout accept for high "g" and for which he might use thumb T1, we newer know.
Hello 👋
My question is when can I use the T key when I play a partition?
Thank you.
So many things NOT to do! It's impossible to do nothing (unless you're in congress). I wish he gave more positive direction.
Lol
The adult Adam Sackler.
can someone please tell me what horn he's playing on? It looks exactly like an alex103 but I don't see the gebr. alex emblem on the throat.
Sorry for the late reply! It is a silver plated yellow brass Alexander 103😁
Why are there subtitles in English for a presentation that is in English?
shiny frensh horn is shiny...
what horn brand it is?
It's a double horn ?
THE ANGRY SNOWFLAKE yes
何語かわからんけどすごい!!
можно перевод плиз
is that a b flat horn or is it an f horn
Sarah Elizabeth double f horn
Can this piece still be performed with "lip trills?"
+Teresa Lazzaro I don't think this trills is best. We still need to use lip... Of course, this is my own opinion...
On a period instrument, you'd have no choice! Kids these days and their valves and their pogo sticks....
Lips trills are good for whole tone trills, but it’s very important that the trill at the end of the exposition is a half step trill from E to F and not E to F sharp. In this case the valve trill is better!
재미있는데좀길다 ㅎㅎ
it would be more convincing if you show what's written on the score and than you play it like that
Was ist das für ein Horn weis das wer ???
double horn, the F horn is on top and below that is the Bb horn.
教え方もうまい
Definitely NOT Sarah Willis. Stick with playing the horn!!!
So stale and boring, Mozart would be horrified.
