!! Please read this comment before commenting about whether or not this is actually Taylor singing !! I originally found a clip of this song ( ruclips.net/video/iS2K835Wt-w/видео.html ) back on May 8th, 2020, when searching about “The Pretty Reckless EP”. The clip was called “Paper” (but the songs actual title is “Paper Planes”) and it said that it was by “The Pretty Reckless”. The description said it was from “The Pretty Reckless” back in 2007, a comment corrected them and said it was more likely to be Taylor alone and from 2008. Because the other unreleased and demo songs are from 2009 I’ve always said this song is from somewhere between 2007 and 2009. The actual date of it is unknown. The full song has apparently been circling around for at least 5 years, most likely more. The original clip was posted in 2011 so it’s from before that. Taylor wrote “Make Me Wanna Die” when she was 15 years old, “Light Me Up” took 2 years to make, and Taylor has said that she’s been writing her whole life, so it being from around 2007 to 2009 isn’t crazy. I personally had never heard of this song before May 8th, 2020, and I tried Googling it and the lyrics and absolutely nothing came up. I couldn’t find any other song with these lyrics (I’m the one who added this song to Genius.com). If you can find something then let me know, but I couldn’t, so I’m believing the original clip I found. I feel like some people are going to compare Taylor’s voice from “Death By Rock And Roll” to this song, and you can’t really do that. Taylor was 13 to 16 years old here, and “DXRNR” was released in 2021 (and was recorded the years prior) when she was 24 to 27 years old. You can’t compare a child’s voice to an adults, that’s not fair. She also smokes, and has since around 2008, so smoking would also affect her voice. Something else to keep in mind is that this is a pop song, from when she was being pushed in a more pop direction (and it has most likely been edited), so it would sound really different from her other rock/alternate stuff. If you compare her voice (speaking and singing voice) from around 2007 to 2009 then I personally think it sounds kind of similar. This song is from around the time that the band had different members, John Secolo, Matt Chiarelli, and Nick Carbone (instead of Ben Phillips, Mark Damon, and Jamie Perkins). Something else, I don’t know if this song is actually by “The Pretty Reckless” (as in the full band and original members), or if it’s just a random song by Taylor on her own, like a solo thing before forming the band. I can’t find this song listed anywhere, so I don’t know who else it could possibly be by. If you can find something then let me know. Until it’s proved that this isn’t Taylor singing, I’m going to keep feeling like it is her. If it’s not her then I’ll apologise and correct the title, but I really can’t find anything else about it. Let me know your thoughts on this.
You know what I really think is Taylor... Probably one of the first songs she recorded in a studio, trying to see which direction she could take making music... The music really goes with her aesthetic when she was 14, a little alternative girl pushed to compete with the rest (Miley, Demi, Selena...) thank god she found the way down below! 💀
This has do be Taylor, she does a thing with her voice that I absolutely love and she’s doing it here. The song writing is her style. Regardless if it’s her or not this song is good
Well, first time when I tried to hear what was she singing it was definitely "where" Lolol! But on the second time I heard "why" for sure, so I think that's the right one:) And u actually did a ton of work, great video, the montage is very well made
