70 years of news: Eric Johnson reflects on the early days of KOMO TV

KOMO television went on the air for the first time on Dec. 10, 1953. Yes, it's true, we are quickly approaching our 70th anniversary.
For the rest of this year, we will be producing stories that take you back in time to revisit the people and events that have defined KOMO TV, and our entire region, through the way we have brought you the news on a daily basis.
In the beginning, before KOMO TV even existed, there was KOMO-KJR radio. It was the only broadcasting entity owned by Fishers Blend Station Incorporated.
The station was created largely to promote and advertise flour, but it became much more than that.
