Wishing all of my subscribers a really good new year all the best . The fossil hunting film I made here is West of Lyme Regis at low tide . What a wet Christmas Day that turned out to be !
The video shows how variable the weather can be at this time of year, what a difference a day makes. Great idea to show typical fossil finds towards the end of the video.
Thanks 🙏 very much Mike, I just ended up using all my coats in the recent weather. I thought the showing off of the typical fossil finds might get it into people’s minds as to what to look for . As you know the best tools are your eyes .
Thanks very much for that, all the best to you for the holidays and happy new year . Thanks for the encouragement, more fossil videos will be made in the new year .
Thanks very much for watching. The best tools are your eyes on the beach looking for the fossils. The sea will have washed out some material this week it’s certainly rough enough currently. All the best to you for 2022, and hope you get some restful holiday days
I never knew you could actually find fossil sea urchins and other Cretaceous materials in the Lyme Bay area... I knew the rocks there do expose Albian sediments, but never realised that people actually found fossils from these layers. Where abouts did you find your urchin? Would that be towards Golden Cap, or just east of Black Ven even?
You can find chert fossil sea urchins and flint ones along the Jurassic Coast. East of Lyme Regis you can spot them in the chert material on the beach at low tide
Thanks 🙏 very much for the encouragement, sometimes when I start to lack energy I try and picture what I might find next . This is so as to give me energy to keep collecting in different places as I proceed along the coast at low tide
You hit the nail on the head there those waterproofs are a deceased pair of water proofs 🤣! The whole coat system I had on was just shear weight - I know how Mary Anning felt now 😁💦💦💦
@@LymeRegisFossils made of stronger stuff than me 😜 I bottled out going yesterday and today because of the rain at low tide 😬 Fingers crossed tomo isn’t too bad 🤞 I have a monster waiting for me if the sea hasn’t taken it back 🤞😅🤣
Thanks for the tip off as I will probably go again out fossil collecting at low tide when the next bright spell appears. I am Seriously lacking waterproof gear now as yesterday was wet too for us collecting with some showers. Today I am hiding away in the shop two days in the rain 🌧 and one to dry out 😁- I think 🤔 that’s how you do it
@@LymeRegisFossils it’s the rain on my glasses and I can’t see is, that bothers me the more that getting wet 😬 I usually tell myself you gotta be in it to win it 💪😜 But this ammo is about 50-60kg and the cliff I have to climb back up with it has had a couple of big falls so I don’t fancy it in the rain 😬 Iv got enough 😜
That’s the trouble you need to go out on the beach at low tide and survive for long enough to make a few fossil finds. If you don’t then your not in it too win it 🌊🌀. But my father a geologist used to have problems with his glasses in extremely wet weather which can really be miserable in this case
We look for fossils along the world famous Heritage Coast - named the Jurassic Coast. The fossils here from the soft marine sediments have been discovered many times before and there are many names for all of them . Everyone is looking at low tide for a different fossil find, even a new species of ammonite .
The Jurassic Coast, U.k . It’s the area of beach at low tide , West of Lyme Regis . The English Channel coast has some good fossil finds in this area . Beware of the dangerous cliffs they are liable to fall suddenly and without warning ⚠️. That’s why we look to go out at low tide
Thanks I have different videos of some of the different areas you can visit on RUclips. That is good fun to try looking on new stretches of beach at low tide
Thank you for inviting us along!
Our pleasure! Thanks 🙏 for watching and the comments

Hello brother, really great video
Thanks 🙏 very much, a really wet day that was at low tide - along the Jurassic Coast!
Have you done a video about which type of rocks to tap open
I have a playlist, one of them has “ rock sitting videos .” I will do a complete one at some point of what to look for .
Love the video Brandon, if only I’d got your stamina I’d have been out on Christmas Day too. X

Wow that was very quick . I was very wet on Christmas Day filming that fossil hunting video at Lyme Regis
