His voice is in a league of its own. But, let’s all respect that Chris says he’s country, so he’s fkn country. And, he actually is. If you know anything about country music.
I’m a metal head from way back (think Sabbath in the 70’s) but I listen and appreciate all kinds of music. I’ve never heard anything like this man since the old blues singers. He is awesome!
Chris Stapleton is soooooooo amazing; he's got a unique voice; this song is edgy, bluesy, very soulful; he's an exceptional artist; he won't disappoint
The most epic performance of this song by Chris is his duet with Justin Timberlake at the 2015 CMA awards followed by Drink You Away. Watching a room full of musicians totally become fans at a concert is priceless. I also appreciate how Chris changed the tempo in his cover of this classic country song.
I was lucky enough to see him live and he’s amazing! He’s written some many hit songs but he never came out with his own albums do to stage fright. His wife who is onstage with him singing convinced him to show everyone his talent and he’s a super star 💫
I've seen the living legend twice and can't wait to do it again. Phenomenal show. He introduced his band while singing their details. He really could sing the phonebook
Chris was a songwriter and wrote hits for a variety of singers across multiple genres. He started with a bluegrass band The Steeldrivers, check out the song Blue side of the mountain.
I don't really listen to country music either but enjoyed the chill vibes of this song, think it's always cool to see people checking out something that's new to them and really enjoyed your reaction and hearing some of the other influences you heard in the song.
I took my girls for first time to see Chris Stapleton at RodeoHouston they were blown away by his performance. Chris has a lot of soul listen to the rest of his songs! He’s from Kentucky and his wife from Georgia they both have heart & soul his other songs sound country
I have heard what he sings is called Country Soul/blues. His wife sings with the band. They are very much in love. There are several kinds of Country music now including Country rock, ND Country pop music.
His guitar is lead, bass and rhythm, just like his voice; melodically in tune with ebbs and flows. Two tracks on a rollercoaster ride, the dirty drops are the best part.
Love seeing reactors discover the greatness of Country Music. It remains the most pure music in an electronic age. It is real life, family, faith, patriotic, and amazing stories!
The original recorded in 1981 by David Allen Coe is in a traditional 4/4 arrangement. Chris was inspired by I’d Rather Go Blind by blues legend Etta James for this arrangement. He’s a musical genius and straddles the country/blues line for sure. He’s got a couple great new songs out. One is called Cold, which is sort of contemporary blues. Here’s one called Arkansas, which is good old country rock ruclips.net/video/DRReg08kRrI/видео.html
He hits a lot of different genres in his music. Here are a few of his songs and the influences they respresent (to me.) I hope you try a few more. He's an amazing musician! "Arkansas" - southern rock, I hear Lynyrd Skynyrd in this. "I Was Wrong," live at Austin City Limits - a little more rock influence - shows off his vocal range and there's a great guitar solo at the end. "Nothing Else Matters," - just dropped his cover of this Metallica song for The Blacklist. Rock with his country influence. "It's A Man's World," - self explanatory. Lol. He was invited out of the audience to sing in the only performance I've seen online. Not even his band. Beastly vocals. "Death Row," - blues. Take your pick, he's got something for everyone!
As guitarist try (I was wrong) Austin city limits. The cover by the great James Brown. The asked Chris Stapleton up on stage from the audience. Watch the bands reaction. He also did a cover of Prince 🤴. To start. He has written no.1 hits for other artists. The woman on stage is his wife who got him to believe in himself as an artist. Chris Stapleton is generational.
I love Deep Purple too. I'm 65 so I've listened to them a long time. I love Ted the Mechanic! Heard about a year ago for the first time. I'm used Speed King & Strange Kind of Woman.
if you want flashy guitar playing get yourself over to his Austin City Limits performance of I Was Wrong, then check out his Cold, Starting Over, Death Row, What are You Listening To, and for a great hit of nostaligia see him perform Fool Me Again.
Be has a Blues feel and Southern Rock feel as well. Today's country is more like Southern Rock in the 70s. I loved Southern Rock then and I love Country now.
This was a very enjoyable reaction. Chris Stapleton is generally better live so pick his live performances over his studio versions whenever possible. The lady singing with him is his wife, Morgane. She frequently performs with him and is an amazing singer in her own right. He didn't actually start out as a singer but limited himself to songwriting. He has written and co-written over 170 songs, among them six number-one country songs, earning him nine ASCAP Country awards, including the Vanguard Award. His songs have been recorded by some of music's biggest stars, including Adele, Brad Paisley, and Dierks Bentley. He has co-written songs with Vince Gill, Peter Frampton, Sheryl Crow, and Ed Sheeran, to name a few. He also wrote some songs for feature films, which are included on their respective soundtracks. In 2007, Chris Stapleton started as the frontman for the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers, which is how I first learned of him. In 2010, he started a Southern Rock band called The Jompson Brothers. In 2013 he started his solo career after being signed by Mercury Nashville. He surprisingly did not become an overnight success. However, He eventually did become well-known and has been unstoppable ever since. He has received numerous awards and nominations. He is the recipient of five Grammys, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, ten Country Music Association Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, and others. I would recommend his live performances of “Sometimes I Cry” at the Binge Lounge, his Austin City Limits performance of “I Was Wrong,” which showcases an awesome guitar solo, his impromptu cover of James Brown's “It's A Man's World,” his tribute performances to Prince and Aretha Franklin, any other live performance, as well as his music video "Fire Away." Be forewarned; the last one is a tear-jerker, no matter how tough you are. I would also highly recommend his performance of "Cold" at the 2021 CMA Awards.
Well, now you have to react to at least 4-5 other songs - these are his absolute bests alongside tennesse whiskey: I was wrong - live Sometimes I cry - live Death Row Cold
I love music and friends and family always share and if are a REAL AMERICAN AS SMALL AS OUR USA MAY SEEM it still the Best Country to raised in....if you take HEART WITH RAISING YOUR FAMILY AND PUTTING THEM FIRST THAT IN OUR COUNTRY WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET HELP WITHOUT HARM.
He did an amazing cover of Whipping Post at a tribute to Greg Allman with Allman in attendance. Very impressive!! You can find it on RUclips. You’re welcome!!
I'm one of the very few who prefers the recorded version of this song. I like the smoothness of that version more than the roughness of the live version.
Usually, I make a snarky comment, then, like and subscribe. I will like and subscribe without the snarky comment. Seriously, it's Chis Stapleton live in Austin. It doesn't get any better than that.
You should also check out the Steeldrivers, whom feature Chris on a number of songs and a whole live performance series of those songs. They are all amazing and are straight up Bluegrass. Liked and subscribed.
Excellent reaction sir. Chris is great. U shocked me with the Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin comment though. Led Z was my favorite band growing up. Deep Purple wasnt too far behind. Saw both bands perform live in the 70s. Yep I'm ancient. Great times and great music. Will chk out more from u. Suggest Sometimes I Cry live from the Bing Lounge and also a early live performance Barely Alive as follow ups for Chris S...both vocals will amaze you. He wrote both songs as well.
You need to listen to the George Jones version from back in the î0s or 80s. It was written back even further like in the 60s I think. It was originally very country.
Something a little different from him. His cover of "It's a Man's World". The band invited him up out of the audience and the audience requested the song and he absolutely nailed it cold. He is the only person outside of James Brown to ever do it justice.
Don't ever pidgin whole a genre of music.. Always be open. I don't like hearing ppl Hate country music.. when they haven't even heard it... I'm open to everything still at 56 yrs old.. I grew up on my Hair Bands.. My pop-pop raised me on country... I taught myself 70's rock.. my father raised me on crooners, and mom tried to raise me on opera.. I danced to hip-hop all through the 90's... just be open and give all music a chance. If you don't love the Bee Gee's.. your tone deaf.. just give it all a chance.
So, the song is very bluesy and soulful. He uses alcohol as a metaphor. That is his wife singing with him - he has stage fright so she’s there to comfort him. They are both singers/songwriters.
Welcome To Chris Stapleton, the man,the myth, the humble simple country song singer who will blow your mind….
In my humble opinion, Chris Stapleton is in a genre of his own!
You are right
He is able to perfectly blend country rock and blues all into one bittersweet parcel.
His voice is in a league of its own. But, let’s all respect that Chris says he’s country, so he’s fkn country. And, he actually is. If you know anything about country music.
Have you heard Vince Gill? Wynona? Brooks and Dunn? Soul has been in country for decades, you just haven’t listened until today.
If I had a man like him looking at me and singing to me like that I would go insane , I swear !
This song makes all he ladies purrr.... if you don't feel warm and fuzzy listening to it then you're probably dead inside!!
County music is a mixture of Gospel, Jazz, blues bluegrass, and pop!❤❤
Grandgrandpa 71 here. Without Muddy Waters, no Rolling Stones. Keep on !!😀
I’m a metal head from way back (think Sabbath in the 70’s) but I listen and appreciate all kinds of music. I’ve never heard anything like this man since the old blues singers. He is awesome!
He is country-blues. The most amazing voice you will ever hear.
I love this song by Chris Stapleton Tennessee Whiskey sing that song Chris Stapleton
The incredible and unmistakable voice of Mr Chris Stapleton
Chris is considered Country but has a great bluesy tone to his voice. As an aside, he was Valedictorian of his school.
Chris Stapleton is soooooooo amazing; he's got a unique voice; this song is edgy, bluesy, very soulful; he's an exceptional artist; he won't disappoint

Great story 🙂
I was lucky to be in the audience for this exact performance.
@@robertstapleton4394 That’s awesome!
I've seen the living legend twice and can't wait to do it again. Phenomenal show. He introduced his band while singing their details. He really could sing the phonebook
So jealous!!! I miss concerts!! We don't get many country artists here in San Diego!!! I bet it was a concert to remember!!🎵🎼🎶💜💜
I appreciate that you didn’t keep stopping it every 5 seconds to comment
It's hard to accurately gauge the flow of the song when it's stopped a lot. Glad you like it!
I love the way he and his wife, Morgane, gaze lovingly at each other. This seems like straight up blues to me. 🌺✌️
A man in a league all his own! His wife Morgan’s is amazing as well. You need to listen to more, you will NOT be disappointed.
My favorite song of Chris Stapleton’s is called “Whiskey and You”. There’s a PBS Tiny Desk concert performance of it that’s really good.
Sounds like one to check out!
It is simply AMAZING. One of the best songs to come out in the last 20 years!
Him and Morgane are so so so wonderful
He’s my favorite artist across all genres.
Check out Chris's wife MorganE and Chris doing YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE, it's not what you might expect but will blow yer min. So So very good.
“I Was Wrong” at ACL…if you haven’t watched that one yet, you’re letting the best in life pass you by!
I'm loving your reactions and comments to Cris Stapleton' s ( Tennessee Whiskey) ❤🔥🔥🔥
You should react to Chris singing "I was wrong" live at Austin City. He kills it on vocals and guitar in it.
Chris was a songwriter and wrote hits for a variety of singers across multiple genres. He started with a bluegrass band The Steeldrivers, check out the song Blue side of the mountain.
I appreciate your reactions ❤
All his songs are great.
I don't really listen to country music either but enjoyed the chill vibes of this song, think it's always cool to see people checking out something that's new to them and really enjoyed your reaction and hearing some of the other influences you heard in the song.
Chris is timeless. Be like Chris. He is best heard live.
Cold by Chris Stapleton is a good one. Great reaction, thank you!
Enjoy the rabbit hole that is Chris !!!!! I enjoyed your reaction

You smiled the whole time.
Stapleton just take country song to next level
His guitar is lead, bass and rhythm, just like his voice; melodically in tune with ebbs and flows.
Two tracks on a rollercoaster ride, the dirty drops are the best part.
Picked a great version to watch -- Chris is always tighter when he sings with/to his wife!!!
Ah you just see that the two love each other, have found the right two, everything fits together ❤️❤️👌👌👌
Perhaps that is the message; country is a mix now and there are a lot of great artists to back that up😊
Nobody puts Chris Stapleton in a corner. He defies genres.
Such an awesome singer
Love seeing reactors discover the greatness of Country Music. It remains the most pure music in an electronic age.
It is real life, family, faith, patriotic, and amazing stories!
Always watch his live performances there the best

He has written so many hits songs for others. Look up his credits if you want to see how many and for who

Can you run when he was with the steeldrivers
Barely alive when he was with the jompson brothers
❤️
Literally one of those singers who can sing a phone book and take it to #1.
So smooth singing to his wife.
Raw talent right there. 😊
As guitarist try (I was wrong) Austin city limits. The cover by the great James Brown. The asked Chris Stapleton up on stage from the audience. Watch the bands reaction. The woman he is looking at and singing with is his wife Morgane! She's the one who convinced him to star singing on stage, hd was audience Shy.❤❤❤❤❤
Ken Burns has a great series called County. It is great but also utilitarian because the historical overview is amazing.
You gotta listen to the live, "I was wrong."
At Austin City Limits too
I love Deep Purple too. I'm 65 so I've listened to them a long time. I love Ted the Mechanic! Heard about a year ago for the first time. I'm used Speed King & Strange Kind of Woman.
Go down the rabbit hole! You won’t be disappointed!
Love me some Blues. This guy is awesome 💯
That's his wife Morgane singing with him!!🎵🎼🎶💜💜💜

Forgot to add his back up singer is his wife, Morgane, also a very talented songwriter and mother of his five kids

The original was David Allen Coe and was sang as a classic country tune and was later recorded by George Jones.
Well, now you have to react to at least 4-5 other songs - these are his absolute bests alongside tennesse whiskey:
I was wrong - live

Death Row
Cold
I sub to your channel because like other sights they interrupt the song to talk, great job.
Listen to Chris Stapleton singing (Cold)!! It's also 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
he was a jazz and country singer in the 30’s les paul trio then in the 40’s he played with big names
Etta James is where you'll find the answer to why it sounds so bluesy 🙂
COLD IS LIVE ON CMA awards live KILLED IT GOT AWARD FOR ALBUM OF THE YEAR
He did an amazing cover of Whipping Post at a tribute to Greg Allman with Allman in attendance. Very impressive!! You can find it on RUclips. You’re welcome!!
written by Dean Dillion in 1981. His wife is singing with him here.
This song was a hit for merle haggard. But her put the etta James I'll go blind melody. Turned it from a very county song. To a bless tune.
I'm one of the very few who prefers the recorded version of this song. I like the smoothness of that version more than the roughness of the live version.

🔥🔥You have heard it beforehand Ms Etta James (I rather be a blind girl) You know what time it is.🔥🔥
There are different styles of Country music now, blurs, blue grass, Cajun, pop country.
I’d love to see your reaction to the late, great John Entwistle (The Who) Atlanta 2000 solo. My good friend and an awesome solo.
Friend, a band that will blow your brain, is called Mortuary, especially the song "Abyss angel" are from Monterrey MEXICO
You have got to hear Chris do Nothing Else Matters off the Blacklist album now, I never was into him until I heard this.
Tempting! I am a big Metallica fan, so that might be a good one.
@@MattFarkas He does it justice IMHO. Different but very cool. Then Volbeat covers Don't Tread On Me that I had to listen to over and over and over.
blues and country are intertwined.
Pentatonix sound of silence and amazing grace
You should also check out the Steeldrivers, whom feature Chris on a number of songs and a whole live performance series of those songs. They are all amazing and are straight up Bluegrass.

Wow wow wo wow wow wow wow wow wow so good wow play it omy god wow
This is a good live performance and I do love this song, but his performance of Cold live at the CMA’s is far better imo and a must watch!
And he is singing with his wife.
Since you play guitar you must check out Stevie Ray Vaughan, Texas Flood Live at the El Mocambo. SRV is the goat of guitar.
Check out his live performance with Justin Timberlake at the CMA's 2015....and Chris's live performance of his song Cold at the CMA's 2021.
Cris has changed country music forsure. He's lead guitar and his wife sings background. Chris has a unique voice
Love like an addiction. That's his wife that sings with him
Listen to his song. COLD
you need to watch cold, from cma awards amazing performance,
Chris gets stage fright and she is his Wife and she is a good singer too.
Did you hear when BB king and Lucille entered the song ? That's one if his idols !!!

Have you seen the national anthem he does at the superbowl wow
I believe this song is the story of him & his wife.
So, the song is very bluesy and soulful. He uses alcohol as a metaphor. That is his wife singing with him - he has stage fright so she’s there to comfort him. They are both singers/songwriters.
