Thus, this is my attempted explanation as to why godwyn looks like a snakey fish thing.
I dont know if lore stops this theory or not, but i believe Godwyn was the next in line to become ethier elden lord or replace his mother as keeper of the elden ring. He was the literal golden child of the family, he was the first born, a great leader and even better warrior. He would have continued the golden order for another age under the two fingers guidance. Ranni didnt want this cause she wanted to bring the age of stars and remove all outer gods influance on the world, so she had to remove Godwyn somehow. This ritual using the rune of death was probably the only way to really kill him since he was probably one of the strongest demi gods to live
I don't think the Elden Ring is inherited through bloodlines in the way you are thinking. Any of the Emperayons were technically candidates to become gods and Marika didn't care which of her children did what so long as they made something of themselves. Godwyn was great for sure but that didn't make him any more qualified than Miquella or Malenia. The issue is that the Golden Order was never perfect and no one understood it as a whole completely not even Marika. While what Ranni did was cruel, i believe she was the only child of Radagon(was is still Marika) who thought to do something for herself instead of following some path set before her. Rykard was corrupted, Radahn followed the Golden Order, Miquella was trying to cure Malenia and couldn't with thr Golden Order, Malenia only wanted to protect Miquella, none of the omen cursed kids could even walk the surface and all were either fighting for their parents attention or subject to the will of outer gods. Personally I think she was the only one who cared to let the world exist on its own
Poor guy had everything you could ask for and that was enough, then the Doll decides to have him killed… I didn’t have a real reason to hate Ranni up until this point either, so now I’m conflicted.
The Lands Between was already a messed up place, especially the Golden Order. They literally have a concentration camp underneath their capital city for the undesirables, and they established themselves through the near genocide of the Fire Giants.
I like to see him as a sort of Balder Figure in the whole Marika bloodline. Micky might fit the personality far better, but in impact and actions Balder was the, so to speak, holly branch to break the camels back which led to the shattering.
I like Godwyn, for him befriending Fortissax after their battle. While many things in the Lands Between were solved with war and conflict, he solved one with kindness instead of violence.

I need to see an actual family/relationship tree for everyone
Personally I think she was the only one who cared to let the world exist on its own
and Fia tried to ressurect him... D had other plans though
Godwyn doesn't lose
😂
I can’t join any other covenant than the frenzy flame because that family is fck up
Embrace lord Goldmask ideology, outer gods fk off, fingers fk off, only equal and peaceful empire of a dude who just fixed family issue
And if it weren’t for the death of Godwyn, the shattering would never have happened. That’s how I remember it going down.
I thought it was the other way, ranni's body died to kill godwyn's soul
Poor guy had everything you could ask for and that was enough, then the Doll decides to have him killed…
I didn’t have a real reason to hate Ranni up until this point either, so now I’m conflicted.
wonder if there'll be an expansion about godwyn or the shattering
What a legendary story
brotha give us long form content you got a chill voice
Ranni was basically the cause of the hole shit-show in the lands between
And that is why in my second playthrough I decidet not to become her servant and follow her questline
@@Joha733her quest is a big part of the game for the first time but now i dont really like ranni
The foundations of the Golden Order were messed up too according to the DLC. Every new age has to have some f'ed up stuff happen.
The Lands Between was already a messed up place, especially the Golden Order. They literally have a concentration camp underneath their capital city for the undesirables, and they established themselves through the near genocide of the Fire Giants.

Its kinda cool that tiche got the finishing blow
Would have loved to see Godwyn in shadow of the erdtree. I was really expecting more of him
I like to see him as a sort of Balder Figure in the whole Marika bloodline. Micky might fit the personality far better, but in impact and actions Balder was the, so to speak, holly branch to break the camels back which led to the shattering.
I feel like if they do another DLC they’ll definitely touch on Godwyn on this one
There wont be another one sadly
Vyke s goals are beyond our underständig bro s gona breed dragon warrior
