Went to Janai coffe last year, and it was wonderful! They're drinks were such an experience and so good. The staff there were so wonderful as well! I loved the name of the place too, so funny! Literally "Not Coffee", but posed as a coffee shop :) P.S. - They do serve coffee too and it was great to be able to get one to go at the end of the night!
very cool! love the secret bars in tokyo but i do prefer the ones i used to go to in sancha - most are ¥1000 for the first drink and ¥700 for all drinks after that. great music and interesting/lively crowd too!
All the bars look really cool, especially the Bin bar. But as a lowly English teacher with three kids in Hokkaido, 6000 yen for three drinks is really steep. I'd hope the cocktails are absolutely amazing!

I remember when I was in Tokyo they had a coffee bar and the girls dressed up like school girls...and they pretended you were bad so they had to discipline you and they would get a ruler out and spank you. That by far beats any starbucks.
Love your format but please set your cameras to sync at 50Hz when shooting in eastern Japan. The flicker rate of the lighting picked up by the camera from the 100V, 50Hz grid power in the Kanto area will give a lot of people a headache or make them dizzy. Not something you want to feel when watching something about food or drink. Thanks!😊
Thanks for the advice! We started shooting our more recent videos in 24p with 1/50, which should solve issue. Did you notice the same in the more recent videos?
Hi, Such a great inspiring video. Living in US for more than 2 decades (although I'm Japanese but have very limited knowledge of bars in Japan), I want to try visiting these bar this month. By the way, is it really easy to walk-in to these bars? I mean, do they accept first-time customers? Just curious. Anyway, thanks for lovely info!
Thanks for the lovely comment! Some of the bars might require a reservation - Jianai coffee for instance needs reservations online. As for other bars, first timer is totally fine! They are welcoming!
5000 yen for allegedly the best cocktails in town (3x) is a complete steal, especially smack in the middle of Tokyo! Is it _that_ cheap to drink in Japan?
This is actually considered expensive in Tokyo! Normal drinks are cheaper but I would not consider those “real” cocktails - it’s usually not very strong
Wife and I are coming to Tokyo next month and would like to visit Janai Coffee, but I know how mobile phones are going to have issues there, will the staff at Janai help with entry if was have problems connecting to get the code from the website?
Mmm have you tried Monjayaki? Its a specialty of Tsukishima and very much a Tokyo thing! As for must do, Tokyo tower has a fantastic night view! Also try looking for food in the alleyways of Harajuku is not a bad idea too!
Be mindful of the rules of the bar, spoken and unspoken. Especially if you're a tourist. This is ok but I recommend to be able to speak some Japanese. Many of these bars don't have anyone speaking English. Ebisu and Shinjuku are typical foreigner hangouts. There are many other areas to try so explore a bit more 😉
Those masks in the open remind me why Japan is so nice and dreadful at the same time, dont you worry you can have it all , we wont come bringing deadly germs lol and i promise i am sorting my trash with love sensei!
@@Nihonhack The issue is owners of two clubs I frequent in Tokyo and you covered here aren't happy with sudden over-exposure. They were keen for them to be made known but now after you posted your video they're inundate with not just Jazz fans, but an occasional visitors too, which they don't really appreciate.
I guess they aren't 'top-secret' bars any longer eh? If this brings a ton of tourists - it will also bring the undying enmity of the locals. But hey. clicks.
Nah, prices may be all right for Tokyo, but my common sense tells me they are way to steep. I go to a bar to get intoxicated not to admire the surroundings as a I would normally do in a museum. I'll skip your suggestions. Thanks but no thanks.

Hi thanks for the video, I’m heading to Tokyo within a few days so this is rly helpful 😊 um if I may, could u recommend a lounge or bar where a lot of expats hang? Preferably somewhere nice and no budget limits! Besides the local bars and small dinings, I’d also like to experience and mingle with people who live there. Again, thanks for the video!🤍
Instant sub for the coolness of the vid.
Thank you!

You are welcome!
A10 has me, i will visit it when i have my 2 years in japan

Definitely much more affordable! I will try to do a series on that too!

It is steep i admit even for tokyo dwellers. I am making part 2 of this video, and was more shocked by some of the prices.
ill be there next week and will def check it out .....thanks so much this is lovely!!
Hope you have checked out some of these places! Enjoy japan!

One of the best things about Japan, is it so safe. Unlike New York or other places in Europe or America.
Fun concept! Perhaps part two with less American (speakeasy) influence? 💋ty
Thanks for the feedback! Will keep this in mind!
Thank you,so cool going tin april doing research
Hope you will enjoy your trip!
nice!

All of them very interesting. The last one would be no 1 for me, with the fruitie coctails. I would like to see organic great resturants.. :D
Thanks! Will keep this idea in mind!

With a price like that they should really be hiding 😂

Life has hidden turns😂🐫
Indeed :)
Very interesting! I wonder how do people find these places 🧐
Some of them i found on the internet and others only by friends bringing me there haha
even if you don't speak japanese it alright right?
Yes i think some places can manage speaking in English! Prepare to use google translate :)
@@Nihonhack well thank god for google translate 😆😆
really cool! i just wish these places werent so expensive :']
Yeah they are quite pricy >
I prefer Izakayas over dance clubs.
Yes, easier to meet people.
Do you give tours??
Sorry i do not. Thanks for asking though
What is the song used in the intro?
Covert Affair by Kevin McLeod

Secrete? NO!!! Secret!
Oops! Thanks for catching! Just corrected the typo

Good point haha i am planning part 2 of secret bar series, stay tuned!
Now not so secret anymore.
Really need to spend a minute or 2 showing & describing the bars, not just the place to find them .
Will keep this in mind for the next video!

Lots of girly bars that are hidden also
