@@rlhicks1 Can you give me one verse from the Bible that dead is being connected or described as being separated from God, or is that just an assumption? I don't read in Genesis after the fall that they're being separated from God, but they needed to go out of the Garden of Eden. And it was clear what the consequence of sin was: dead, not some spiritual dead. The verse you are quoting from Ef. 2:1 can also be red as 'dead to your trespasses and sins'. But apart from that, it doesn't suggest that it's a spiritual dead in stead of literal dead. it can easily be explained as meaning that as long as you are under the power of sin and trespasses, you're under the power of the dead, meaning there is no resurrection to (eternal) life to you, but rather condemnation. A verse as this one is too easily used as an argument to fit a certain theology.
Paul is teaching Timothy, as an overseer, is to have hope in God for the salvation of all people. Paul is not saying that non-believers will be saved as well because that would be contradicting, he is just saying that God is known to be a savior of all people and you should put hope on that knowledge about him. That's why we are encouraged to reach the unbelievers as well hoping that they will be saved.
@ That’s your wishful notion that Jesus isn’t really the Saviour of all men, especially those that believe - meaning he will also ultimately save those who refuse to believe while in this life. He’s teaching Timothy a lot more in 1 Timothy 4:10 than to hope for the salvation of all people, he’s teaching him that will actually be the end reality. Unbelievers will ultimately be saved but with a lesser glory than believers; 1 Corinthians 15:40-42. This is the will of God; 1 Timothy 2:3-4. It is patently clear that Jesus is the saviour of ALL men; 1 Timothy 4:10.
@@Originaldoctrine Your argument contradicts the Gospel. What's the purpose of believing then if unbelievers will be saved as well? Paul even said in Romans 8:9, those who do not have the Spirit of Christ do not belong to Christ. This just means others do not have Christ. Even Jesus said according to John 10:25-29, that only those who have followed him will have eternal life and these are the ones that the Father has given to him. The scriptures in John 6:44 , Romans 8:28-40 and , Ephesians 1:4-5 tells us that all that are saved are already chosen long before the world was founded. Paul is just saying to Timothy to HOPE to the savior of all men - God but it doesn't mean God will save all of them. Paul is just encouraging Timothy for hope because we don't know who are chosen.
@ 1 Timothy 4:10 is also the Gospel. I’m sorry that you can’t reconcile it with what else you’ve been led to understand about the Gospel. But it can be reconciled with other scripture if you continue to read, absorb and understand them better. Not all who receive salvation receive eternal life. Eternal life is to share the same existence and glory that the Father and the Son have which is the glory of the Sun. Other people gain immortality and salvation from hell but obtain a lesser glory of the moon or the stars, but not that of the Sun (eternal life); 1 Corinthians 15:40-42. Ephesians 1 tells us that those who inherit eternal life do so according to the good pleasure of God’s will. 1 Timothy 2:4 tells us that it’s also God’s will that all men be saved. Paul is doing so much more than encouraging Timothy or to have hope. He is teaching him a deeper understanding of God’s plan of salvation for all his children. Those who keep God’s commandments are his chosen. Matthew 19:17.
@@Originaldoctrine You might want to need to put up your reference for that "not all who receive salvation receive eternal life". Jesus already said what is God's will, (John 6:40) those who believe in Jesus will have eternal life - this is God's will. If you read (2 Timothy 2:25-26), Paul is hoping that God may grant the opponents repentance and knowledge of truth which leads back to (1 Timothy 2:4) that Paul is encouraging Timothy to have hope. Paul is implying that God may or may not grant other people the repentance they need for salvation. In other words, salvation is not for all but for only those that God has chosen which Jesus said in (John 6:44) “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day" so it is the Father that chose who are to be saved through Jesus.
Why do so many Christian preachers tell unbelievers that all they must do to escape from condemnation is to believe what they don't believe? How can an unbeliever make himself believe?

Daniel 7
10 A river of fire was flowing And coming out from before Him;
Thousands upon thousands were serving Him, And myriads upon myriads were standing before Him;
The court [i]convened, And the books were opened 11 Then I kept looking because of the sound of the boastful words which the horn was speaking; I kept looking until the beast was killed, and its body was destroyed and given to the burning fire.
- Dead.
Revelation 20
11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them; and they were judged, each one of them according to their deeds. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
- Dead.
People are already dead when they are thrown into Gehenna. Therefore destroy the body doesn’t mean kill the body since it is already dead. If destroy doesn’t mean kill the body then it doesn’t mean kill the soul.
