Brilliant! I love your suggestion of using an older phone (instead of the primary) to use for photos. Nice slim package. Thanks, sir!
Glad it was helpful Scott.
Nice video Alec, but when are we seeing some vintage scuba videos again, SeaHunter etc.
Hi Tom. If you watched my At The Ranch channel, after several years I finally cleaned out my garage of decades of vintage stuff. There is not much left of my vintage gear but when Kevin and I can get together again, will try to put out a few more vintage. Thanks for watching sir.
@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter No worries Sea Hunter 😋 I did find them to be very educational.. Looking forward to some potential new videos...
We finally get to see Kevin.lol
Good thing I used the wide angle lens!!
Such good timing I was just out looking for one of these yesterday and then today I find one I couldn't find the name of a company who makes them and just by happenstance once again you've answered my questions without me having to ask thanks so much Alec
Glad I could help!
Got here first I look forward to your videos
You win the first comment prize! Thanks for watching.
The SeaLife one is epic
They are and been around a long time.
Thanks, very useful, it's good to hear from you
Glad you liked it!
Are there any issues with pressure on the phone? Even my go pro housing gets squeezed at depth.
It's certified to 100' depth but unless your camera takes great pictures and has colour correction, less is better.
We haven't used any mobile cases yet underwater...and probably won't use them any time soon. Thanks for the informative video though. At least we know what brand/type to get if we do consider getting one hahaha
Cheers,
Daisy
Glad it was helpful!
I wonder if the phones are rated to be squeezed by 3 atmospheres pressure. Seems like some may get the glass broken, or something shorted out inside like the battery. The pouch maker may be able to guarantee the phone stays dry, but you may end up with a dry broken phone.
They are certified to 100' but less is better. Start shallow and see how it works first, right?
Hi Alec and Kevin! Love you guys and your videos. I learnt so much from your Tech Tips and really enjoy the Vintage Scuba and Sea Hunt videos too. I have a question though, what's the difference between a commercial diver and a saturation diver ? Or are they the same thing? Tried to find out but I'm still not sure. Many thanks and keep up the good work, it's fantastic 👌
Well Paul a commercial diver works for pay and saturation diving is one way of earning it. There are many kinds of commercial work like salvage and repair. Saturation divers spend it in high pressure environments moving between a surface support ship and deep work generally over 300' down to 1,200'.
Here is a good article from a saturation diver to explain what they do and the hazards. Thanks for watching.

My experince with those pockets are not great when taking photo UW
The touchscreen is useually in contact with the plastic, that is exposed by the pressur. That makes most smartphons go into locked screen or Black screen because of the proxi sensor
Not a perfect system because of the plastic vs optical glass but have you seem the majority of divers u/w pictures? They remind me of 35mm slides from family vacations back in the 1970's, bad, out of focus, blue, and boring, but they took it so good for them. Thanks for watching Martin.
@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter your Right 😁👌
I Would rather have a pocket like that than not have one 😁.. Droping a Phone from a boat must be pretty commen those days 😝 modern tecnology. That's why thay have to watch you Alec 🤣🙏👌❤️
Happy Canada day Alec
Have you read your mail about my question about glass tint or UV ?
Not read any emails for a few day, have my grand kids visiting for the first time in a year. Will get to them soon.
@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter take care and have good time,
I am not sure it would work down to 100 ft. I would need to see someone else take their new phone down to 100Ft, before I would pt mine in there. I use pouches like this one (look like the same design) around/in the pool, and they all fail eventually, but with no safety stop required to get it dry.
It is IPX8 certified but like anything in scuba, camera case, dive computer, etc, it can fail and is generally traced back to diver error. Remember to RTFM, Read The Fun Manual first.
Sir how can I refill oxygen to my mini smaco tank with Medical Oxygen Tank which is attached by Not Scuba Tank Valve
You must not put medical oxygen, anything above 40% O2, into any scuba tank unless it has been completely oxygen prepared by professionals. Nothing more on this subject as it's too dangerous to discuss.
Well, thank the stars. Finally, a product for all those people who sit at the light for 40 seconds after it turns green, while they thumb around on their phone, checking their Facebook and Instagram. Now, they can spend their entire bottom time mindlessly thumbing away on their phones underwater. Will wonders never cease?
Pretty sure that won't be a realistic issue. Not as many cell towers or wifi spots underwater as you might expect.
@@mattdecker7141 Between Musk and Bezos, that may be mere minutes away, polluting the seas with WIFI buoys thickly enough to walk to China on.......Stranger things have happened.
No one knows the future of diving but as someone who started with no BCD, no SPG, no safe second, an unbalanced reg or buddy, it has gotten a lot safer and more fun. I'm waiting for a HUD in the mask!
We found a pink iPhone 6 three days ago in a depth of 15 m. Must have fallen off a boat. It was in a case constructed for splash water only. Its completely destroyed.
Why can they never lose cash?
Hi Alec,
Has anyone from your dive store tested it underwater? Is it any good?
It worked in the store dive pool to 9'.
I am glad to be away from any phone when I am underwater📝
Some folks still take calls on the dive boat, no peace but underwater.
Not good. I put keys from car in simmilar. And for kayaking it's good. But not for divind. Keys was in salt water (not big problem because I grab without electronics inside)
Been on dives with others using this or similar, no problems even deep. Some love it other not so much. It is still an option before something more expensive.
A
this style of design is not new EWA marine took that approach to design and build flexible housings for cameras that was forty years ago.
If you go way, way back to the stone age, watch my Vintage Scuba S02E03 The Aqua Eye for a laugh.
Too flimsy, I wouldn't risk my expensive smartphone with it.
A few divers I know have a second smartphone (or older model), just for these cases. Lot cheaper that a full rig, less space and if your not picky, ok pictures too.
OK, so I saw the advertisement, where is the video?
Look closer its in the corner...
