Hi folks! My apology on the missing part of the men's single as the rally was forced to be taken down due to copyright issues. Here's some context of the rally: Based on my research, the longest men's single rally happened at the 2013 World Championship Quarterfinals between Vietnam's Nguyen Tien Minh and Denmark's Jan Ø. Jørgensen, at Game 3, 20v18, where the Vietnamese held two bronze medal points opportuniy. The Danish's resilience of not giving up and the Vietnamese's eagerness of winning the match marked a historical moment in badminton: a 108 shots rally in 1 minute and 54 seconds. The rally ended with Nguyen's smash outside the line. However, he managed to take down the match with 22-20, and became the first Vietnamese to ever win a medal in any discipline at the World Championship.
The MD match is so interesting, one of my favorite badminton match ever. If you watch the full match, we can see that both pairs not only play the same tactic but also can read opponent really well. Just like play againts mirror... That's why the score is so tight from the first minute. Gideon/Sukamuljo were unstopable in that era, and Kamura/Sonoda manage to hold them up. In 2nd game both pairs slow down the drift, looking for the gap, they ended up frustated and just throw the ball like their warming up. They were booed by the crowd, the refree even get down to the court and ask Indonesian coach why Gideon/Sukamuljo play like that. The frustation didn't end up quickly. Both pairs still slow down the game play, laugh, scream, all together. In the end Kamura/Sonoda manage to defeat no. 1 MD pairs.

The WD was by far the most insane, they were going for it all the time. After 100 the point should count 2, then after 150 it should be 3, etcetera. with little lights going on behind the court.
From what i observe, men's double is a battle of speed and women's double is a battle of stamina. You'll see a lot of quick shot in men's double, and you'll see a lot of long rally in women's double.
WS 2017 was something else.. they couldn't toss the shuttle around like in warm up unlike the doubles matches, the girls had to run the corners, Sindhu was twisting and bending using her height while Nozomi had to push through her legs (you can even hear her heavy breathing near the end). I had the full match recorded in HD and I regret losing it because it seems youtube only has the 720p nowadays after taking down the best uploads..
When my game had long rallies, I've had people accuse us of purposely hogging the court. We are only playing game. Then, they repeatedly ask us what the score is after every single point. As a consequence, we take our sweet time between serves. Some people are just so impatient. Then they go on to try to play the best of 3 games & get angry when other people tell them only 1 game is allowed.
@@meowiguess903 For me, what makes it worse is that it is people in the same weekly meetup group behaving this way. We go out for food after badminton & meetup for other activities. So we are not strangers. Also, we all pay equal share ($) to rent the court. Some even refuse to supply their share of shuttles or pay the feather shuttle fees. I am so much happier not having to organize & collect fees. Now I play with a different group.
All great rallies! But why did everyone suddenly forget about the 250+ shot WD rally from 2015's Denmark Open? It was between Fukuman/Yonao JPN and Tse/Poon HKG. Granted, the WD rally from this video is more exciting to watch.ruclips.net/video/1Vcbh0nnyY4/видео.html
Thanks for the correction. I was only aware of that after another fan commented about this. I was researching and most reports were claiming that the 211 shots rally was the longest one, but actually there's a shocking 256! 😱
After this longest rallies, Thinah Pearly next day fight another Japanese team, they lost that game due to exhaustion but that game also put a deepest impression to me, their determination and never give up spirit really amazing, there is a saying - there is a spirit call "Pearly Tan".
I like the comment at the beginning of the men's doubles rally. It explains why the conditions were there for a long rally. In fact, it doesn't make that much sense to speak of real records here, because if two opponents decide to not attack, they can stand there and push the shuttle over the net almost forever.
That is not the longest mens singles rally. Ville Lång played against Christian Lind Thomsen in 2009 Finnish international and there was a 3,5 minutes long rally😂
