MK once quoted Chet Atkins as saying about his guitar playing: "I don't know what he does but it works!". I think MK's accompanying riffs in this song are a perfect example of what Chet had in mind.
Mark Knopfler's bouncing guitar licks on this are incredible. What a unique rythem style he uses, playing the strings almost like piano keys. The off-beat timing, slightly ahead of the beat is odd but it works beautifully somehow. Gives it a forward momentum. He has erratic form - sometimes a bit uninspired, every performace being partly a new improvisation, but when he's dialled-in like this it's exceptional. His rythem playing alonside Clapton's soloing, and throughout, in this performance is beautiful.
I love elton video i watch this several times a day. Yes clapton is good but knopler rocks this performancewith elton and ray cooper . coope4 is a fantastic percussionust and elton virtually jumps off piano be bench❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤much love
I was 13 when this concert was released on The Disney Channel here in the States. I watched it every time it aired, and this song was always my favorite part of the show. Everyone pitched in and contributed, plus having two ax-men like Knopfler and Clapton in the mix made this epic!
Elton Jonh com os dois melhores guitarristas do mundo,Mark Knopfler eh brilhante fez desta musica a melhor versão ja vistan,um dos melhores solos do Eric

A good attempt from Elton to write his own lyrics (he has in fact written some lyrics as well, in the early days), but I would say he should stick to Bernie, and should have stuck to Bernie's original in this case. 😂

Knopflers guitar here takes this song to another level...
Fantastic group!!! No more words........

He should have recorded this song with Knopfler. Those licks are literally perfect for the song

Dream team band ! Collins on drums, John on Keys and Knopfler and Clapton going back and forth on guitars. Best version of this track anywhere.
Usted sabe de música 👍

What a solo from Eric Clapton.
With Eric Clapton and Phil Collins? My God, it was incredible! Lucky ones those Whois where there...
A guitarra é do Mark Knofler também.
Eric rescued the song with an unbelievable solo....elton all over the place with the lyrics!!!
These are the greats of music kids. Sorry you live in a different era
Pure gold. ✌️
Knofler's guitar is just another member of the band who sings in between of lyrics / chorus

Wjat a dynamic performance and ray is rocking it go man rntire performance exciting
Great stuff. All the big names and I think I spotted Alan Clark on keys from Dire Straits
I don't know how will all that talent the mythical muses refused to appear on stage
What???
Clapton y Mark Knofler
Great work by Elton, Eric, Phil & others
When Eric Clapton is on the guitar of another artist song, that becomes always better
That sound of Mark’s Pensa
Great smile
Ooooooohhh yyeaaah!!! "They said a (brand new custom Pensa Suhr) guitar is all, he can afford..." though yes Eric's solo is amazing.
Making its debut here too.
Ive been looking for this video for ever
when people were free

@@meltingsnowman266he wasn't trying to make up his own lyrics he couldn't remember them correctly, he was getting the verses confused
The best, the 2 girls dancing movements
I love the backing singers who are Katie Kissoon in the pink dress and Tessa Niles.
How the hell do you know that?
@@216trixie I found out from another friend. They can both sing as both have great history at singing with big stars.Katie can play the Tambourine.
What, Sugar Candy Kisses Katie Kissoon?
Fantastic Sir Elton John but fantastic big band!!!!!!
Such great style. He could/can get away with nearly anything. Jaunty hat. Great smile. This is breathtaking esp with earbuds.
Pena que não goste de mulheres!

Mark non te lo dimenticare! Fa sempre la differenza!
Gorgeous 😍❤️ love of my life
I think Elton was partying a little too hard before coming on stage...haha.
That's a big time solo
Elton looking so sexy while rocking this song❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
i bet my head that its phil collins in one of the 2 drums
Yes he is
Yup they showed him
Sadly, Phil is mixed out of this recording, as only Steve Ferrone’s drums can be heard. Regardless, both are masters of the kit.
There is a feather on his head 😅
Esto es increíble
If Elton knew the words to his own song it would have been really good
I hate lazy editing, focusing on Clapton's fingers when that's not tying in with what he's playing...!
con razon mi tio dice que escucho pura mierda esto es musica
