    Bravo Tim! You’ve surpassed the awesome series of interviews from the last Dubai Watch Week, and I didn’t believe that was possible. Great panel, great questions and great job as host! Please put off law school for at least another decade 🙏👍⚡️

    "If you love watches, I don't think it's an issue." Favorite response of the interview. There are so many options outside of the hype watches!

    Great job Tim, excellent interview. These three gentlemen were sincere, transparent and did not deflect questions. That speaks a lot to the integrity of their brands and products. Omega’s CEO has a lot to learn from these guys.

    Congrats to Tim for getting these three independent CEO's together for a candid conversation. Enjoyed the insight on the watch industry and what they like/didn't like from each one. I was glad that the the CEO's recognized that their watches are going to mainly the high spenders, and not giving new customers a chance to buy their brands. Unfortunately, I did not hear a solution, but the first step is to recognize there is a problem.

    Hi Tim, thank you for asking the question about Brexit. As a UK watch enthusiast it is making things difficult. I actually received a new Moser yesterday, but what should have taken three months took eight months due to Customs. No fault of either Moser or the retailer. I hope that brands like Moser have the patience to carry on shipping stock in this direction.

    Tim and his question regarding dress watches- Unfortunately, I am going to take a shot at new media today, new media being the internet; So many inlfuencers have started this trend of getting a dress watch, wacking it on a casual strap and calling it an every day watch. This strategy of trying to make dress watches more casual to appeal to the younger market is a double edged sword because it is beginning to kill the dress watch genre and I do not think that it is as simple as Max has mentioned ''if you are a watch lover and collector, you will purchase a great product". If the dress watch genre is to stay alive which I sure hope it does because as a young watch collector at 40, I still love the romantic nature of owning a delicate Cartier, a delicate Patek Calatrava and so on. Therefore, retail partners need to educate, I hope to have the opportunity to educate because I do feel the need to have a beautiful dress watch that I could hand over to a loved one. It is up to partners like Tim to not just sell the experience but to understand the need for doing so, I feel a need to do so and as such, it will be much easier for me to sell the idea.

  • @Joe-xo3xy

    my advice to the independents; In order to be even more successful, please try to give us more transparency into your brands, there is a reason independents have a flock of new collectors regardless of the new flipping market and this is due to transparency and the ability to connect with a brand. I have criticized the main stream brands of sort of being virtual and faceless, there is no one we can connect with in terms of the main stream brands, no designers , no creators. Therefore, I think to boost your (independent brands) success levels, do not be afraid to open up your doors to clients as well as publicizing it on the internet! It is very well needed in the current virtual environment we face today, it helps give further tangibility to you brands;
    It is a strategy you guys won't regret. DO videos introducing intimate moments or members of the brands and even day visits for existing consumers as well as prospective clients

    It's rare to see the relentlessly positive Edouard Meylan throwing a bit of shade on a competitor (Bulgari), though no doubt an honest and heartfelt comment. I consider both the Streamliner and Octo as the newest sports-elegant icons and bought both, but I wear the Streamliner more often.

    That was a great interview. The last question was must watch RUclips. Many people will look at them and only see their present day success. But, the journey is much more interesting. The bottom line, never give up. I am glad they didn’t.

    I live in the UK and I bought my Moser streamliner direct from Moser online services, I paid them inclusive of VAT and they shipped me the watch direct from Switzerland. Dead simple!!
    @Ed Meylan if you follow the AP house route please don't be as pretentious as them. I've never felt so unwelcome as when I walked into the Madrid AP house

  • @user-fi5fr9us2t

    It's nice to see and listen to this conversation, but in essence the whole watch industry just follows the Rolex way! From sells channels, to " finding they're identity". Rolex is king for a reason! De Berthune needs to work on the ergonomics, Moser needs to add the minute markers on the dials, and MB&f, make the dome thinner. Nevertheless, good luck to all!

  • @miazoi7891

    It’s interesting because all three gentlemen dislike flippers yet Tim‘s business relies on flippers…. I guess free press is good press…

    • @jolness1
      @jolness1 2 года назад +2

      I mean maybe for Rolex but there is a difference between someone choosing to sell a watch after a few years (or longer) versus buying it just to sell it.
      I am too damn sentimental to sell my watches but even so, I wouldn't consider someone choosing to sell a watch after a flipper. Especially when they lose money, that's a bad business model lol.

    The hypocrisy is stunning. It seems watch brands object to "flippers" despite making their margins, because their own inability to meet market demand is driving prices up. On the other hand, when the same piece gets auctioned, they appear to relish the sky high prices being attained. Somewhere along the way, these brands appear to have forgotten that they sell a discretionary and unessential item. Nowadays, they insist on who can buy their product, when they can buy them, at what price they can buy them, and when it comes to resale, if the customer can sell the product, when, to whom and at what price. It's beyond ridiculous and demonstrates the sheer arrogance that's permeated the watch industry. It's plain disappointing to see such stalwarts of the industry participating in this folly. As a watch lover, the current climate has completely killed my passion for this hobby.
